An interesting idea of ending Minmatar-Amarr conflict

Just because you choose not to aggressively prosecute every possible heathen for the enslaveable offense of not being Amarr doesn’t mean it’s not an offense.

Probably because you realize it’d be utterly daft. Doesn’t change what your scriptures say in very clear language. Of course, only using scripture very selectively is the hallmark of a theocracy. Ignore the inconvenient bits and pretend it’s not there. Until it’s useful again.

There aren’t any of these (well not outside the clubs in Dodixie anyway).

I mean, sure, it’s an offense. It’s an offense in the same way as if we had made the best curry in all of existence, and those we offered it to politely turned us down. Sure, it’s a little offending, but we can survive.

The curry will always be here for you to try. It’s just that sometimes we get impatient. Because it’s the best curry. And we made it. Just for you. You ungrateful bastards. Eat your ■■■■■■■ curry.

No, but really, how many times do I have to tell you? Our days of conquest and enslaving entire civilizations are over for the foreseeable future. We accept that the curry is not for everyone right now. That’s fine. In the past, when we owned the house and could boss everyone around, we could force you to eat the curry until you learned to like it, but not anymore. Thankfully, the recipe for the curry can be changed, and while there are a lot of curry lovers out there who like it the way it is, the Curry God will be adding and subtracting a few spices to make it palatable for most of everyone.

Because, in the end, isn’t that the purpose of a good curry? To bring everyone around the table and share a meal in brotherhood and harmony? Yes, that is what it’s for. Once the recipe is right, we can all forgive one another for any potential curry-related crimes of the past, and pass out the naan and lassi and have a good time together as we were always meant to be.

Except those nanite and blood curry-lovers, they can ■■■■ right off.

So…I’m still allowed to admire your hair?

Yeah, I’m afraid there are other ingredients in that curry besides nanites and blood that are going to be an issue. Besides, don’t you find it a tad hypocritical that scripture apparently needs to be modified on the fly to fit whatever the situation demands? Or at least, its interpretation.

The thing is, your days of “conquest and enslaving entire civilizations” aren’t really quite over, are they? You are still holding a very significant amount of our people, and there are debts in play here that aren’t going to just go away just because they’re inconvenient now that you no longer have the power to just steamroll them. If the days of enslavement and conquest are over… maybe it’s time to actually stop and not just speak the hollow words?

No, because the Imperial Rite itself admits it is imperfect and must be built through the flawed language and actions of man, despite it being divinely inspired. The Scriptures are living documents, and as new saints and prophets are revealed, so is the truth. The very symbol of the Imperial Seal reflects that imperfection. We strive towards it, but clearly have not reached it yet.

It’s not our fault your Republic made peace before they could get to them. We are done with taking new slaves, but not done teaching the old ones. As difficult and ugly a business slavery often is, my lady and I have no ability to change how it is done beyond the borders of Para’nashu. Which is still far more power than you possess in this matter. Slavery can and will change from within, and your own impatience will not affect that process, except by making matters worse for those still in bondage.

Now, I know that no matter how many times I explain this to you, you will not accept it, and that’s fine. You are half way across the cluster and cannot affect this in any way. It’s just that you whining about the curry when you don’t even have to smell it gets a little old.

Oh sweet thing. If we’ll abandon the curry metaphor for a bit, I was born and raised in the Empire. Steeped in your faith and your world. It cost a quite literal arm to endure it, and an equally literal leg to escape it. You are also well aware, or should be, of the liberation, treatment and transport of again quite literal millions of my people from the clutches of the Empire. Over a million of these very publicly documented at that.

You may not be watching too closely, but halfway across the cluster? It’s spitting distance at best, for capsuleers. The JFs, DSTs and BRs don’t operate under my name either.

I know you don’t like to accept such things, but progress is in fact made and the cause is worth dealing with the ridiculous CONCORD mandated smuggling laws making it a massive pain in the arse to get significant volumes to Pator.

The simple fact is, you can’t hold our people hostage. If you will not release them, then they are already lost and whether efforts to liberate them succeed or fail, there is no downside. Every liberation is a victory, every failure is simply continuation of the current situation, followed by more operations with the same two possible outcomes.

All that is also said without even mentioning your hypocrisy in claiming “we are done taking new slaves” when your Navies and territories are full of slaver raids and breeding facilities.

I don’t know if this is what you’re saying but this is what I hear, “Your objecting to the prolonged enslavement of Minmatar within Amarr is enabling continued enslavement of those Minmatar.” What are you actually saying in your original statement? Please clarify so I don’t misrepresent you.

Look Mizzy, I didn’t ask for this situation. Neither of us can change it except in small ways, and I’d rather like to make sure my contribution is a positive one, not a shot in the dark made in blind rage at a wound of a past that should be healed and not opened further.

I want peace between the Empire and Republic. I want all slaves freed, not just the Minmatar ones. And I also want the Empire to remain intact, its faith made more perfect, and its citizens prosper.

I have a lot of things that I must reconcile in my efforts to improve the Empire and cluster at large. I’m sorry you are not intelligent enough to see the best paths forward, but that’s probably why you are a bitter capsuleer fuming at the ass-end of New Eden while I am a lord near the heart of the Empire who can actually have an impact if that opportunity is managed well. You trying to convince me, or anyone else loyal to the Empire for that matter, to betray the tenants of the Imperial Rite and Empress is the exact opposite of helpful. By all means, call out the flaws of slavery and the faith all you like, but do not be surprised when a hand in friendship becomes a finger in insult when you advocate apostasy and violence as a solution.

Your emotions have made you a poor problem-solver. I am sorry your Holder failed so terribly with you, but I cannot change what has happened, only try to prevent it from happening to others. I want what is best for you, and every Minmatar in the cluster, even the ones outside of the Empire, but it is difficult to justify peace and mercy to them when you are actively trying to do us harm.

There are only three solutions to the problems you see: you destroy us, we destroy you, or we act with patience and humanity to see this through in peace. I’ve made my choice, you have made yours, and we will be eternally opposed until one of our visions win out. I am going to make sure it’s mine, and not yours.

You may not have asked for the situation, but you are perpetuating it by surrendering to the darkness of your Empire. You are perpetuating it by preaching what you know are blatant lies about slave raiding being just some criminals, instead of condoned and perpetuated by your own officials. By publicly pretending there is no cause for war, when you know all too well what a heinous crime it is to keep even one slave against their will.

I am not trying to convince you, Aldieboo. You have taken your stand and you will fight for it. All I am doing is making sure you know as well as you should, just how little your mask hides what lies underneath. How your words remain hollow, as actions fail to follow.

Do you think peace wouldn’t be desired by all? That it is unique to you? No, Lord Consort Aldrith Shutaq, we all desire it. We just aren’t willing to pay for it with the suffering and blood you demand from those still held in chains. Oh, of course you’re the nice slaver. Just “doing what you can in the system you’re in”, except you know all too well that is not how it works in your nation, or any based on slavery.

You would offer a hand in friendship, covered in the blood of my kin, the other wrapped around a chain, then wonder why it is refused?

Sometimes, I am indeed sorry for you. I imagine what you could have been, had you been able to be honest with both New Eden and yourself rather than playing pretend for your nation. Of course you can’t do what needs to be done. It’d be a very real betrayal of both who you are and what you love, yet that does not take away the responsibility you carry for the perpetuation of the crimes that placed you there to begin with. Between a rock and a hard place, Aldrith Shutaq will never be able to be both the good man he wishes to be and a loyal Imperial. Thrice damned, whatever path he chooses.

… I wonder if he knows what he looks like from without?

Except for the whole ‘the Emperor/Empress is the infallible mouthpiece of God’, right? I mean, if you accept that, then how does Scripture become imperfect? But if Scripture is imperfect, by extension the Throne and the Theology Council (who determine what is and isn’t Scripture) must be imperfect, and fallible. And at that point… Well, at that point, you’re left with a bunch of fallible human beings who just happen to have consistently focused, laser-like, on one point throughout millennia: ‘We get to tell you what to do’. Because that, too, could be wrong. If they’re not infallible, then nothing in the Scriptures can be taken as guaranteed to be true, because someone later could decide ‘this was one of the wrong bits’.

Which results in a system enacted by one group of humans, expressly and demonstrably for the purpose of benefiting those same humans. It’s a system of brutal violence, torture, cultural and physical rape, abuse, and degradation that inflicts itself not just on those you consider transgressors, but upon their children, until such time as the beneficiaries magnanimously make the arbitrary decision that ‘ok, this person has been made sufficiently like me that I can stop paying his upkeep’—a decision that most will never reach, even if their only crime was being born to generations of enslaved victims.

Tell me how propagating that behavior is anything less than visiting on others the abuse and mistreatment your bloodline suffered. Tell me how doing all that in the name of ‘oops, we might really have been wrong the whole time’ Tell me how my kinsmen being tortured for your benefit over something you have to guess at is more justifiable than me dropping your children into a pit of starving slaver hounds and saying ‘I’m sure Napkins’ Red God will watch over them’.

Ohhhh, no. Sorry. You don’t get that dodge here. Remember: the children get punished for their parents’ and grandparents’ sins. That’s why they get born into slavery. So all of Amarr will bear the cost for every one of their sins, ever—to demand less of you would be to make hypocrites of you, and we wouldn’t want that, now would we?

Where it persists, for 15,000 people, while you free 50 as some sort of empty and meaningless gesture—by Mitara’s own words, no less—toward the new Empress. You want anyone to take you seriously about wanting to “make sure my contribution is a positive one”?

Free them. Free them all. Anything else marks you as full of crap.

Nah, make me.

Why do I get the feeling that if i was to point my guns away from you and your own, leave the militia and simply focus on anti-piracy activities I would still be shot on sight? Mind you as a Matari who I would think is considered atleast slightly approachable with out the trademark resorting to a verbal Matari call to arms to undermine your thoughts blindly

About the response I expected.

No, really, I don’t even get to make that decision.

You do, however, get to try to talk Mitara into it. If you really feel that way about slavery, that shouldn’t be that much to ask.

Unless, as I suspect, the suffering and needless oppression of 15,000 people is worth less to you than your own inconvenience.

Actually, slavery is fine if it’s done right. Not the best, but acceptable. I feel that we do it pretty well.

Again, about the response I expected.
