An open letter to Kril Efrit

I understand how easy it is to attack outsiders. Especially considering the past. Prejudices and racism are alive and well in all cultures.

What do I know of the Matari Culture? I know I’ve spilled more blood and lost more clones in the name of Matari freedom than most of you striplings that fly the flag of your people today will ever do.

I also know that I served with proud, measured warriors and not reactionary children who speak more than act. They showed respect and, in turn, received the same respect and much more.

I’m also sure that archaeologists would disagree that your previous culture is lost. I know the Republic has a better public school system than that. How did you all pass the exams to become capsuleers?

You do know that we aren’t immortal, right? We can, and do, die frequently. And our ability to come back from it is as easy to prevent as CONCORD pushing a button.

Really? Do you have those reports handy, or are you just doing what people all over Galnet do, and making crap up to support your position?

I wasn’t talking about you. I was talking about the current atmosphere in Republic, where yes, social conservatives have been running an ur-Reactionary push toward ‘traditionalism’ for a decade, despite our traditions being more or less invented out of fragmented half-remembered rumor within the lifetime of some Amarr.

The last ten years of Republic society has been a massive push for ‘traditional’ everything. If it’s not ‘traditional’ it’s bad.

Because utterly rejecting the Gallente style of government, that was Gallente values encroaching on our society, right?

The Minmatar are governed by a Tribal Council, with each Tribe governing itself. Your dichotomy’s a false one. The idea of a national sense of unity is an extremely Gallente one. We are seven Tribes, and the Tribes together are the Minmatar. But first, we are our Tribes.

I make more money out here than I could there. So my Clan makes more money with me out here, sending it more than 3/4 of my income, than they would if I was in the Republic. That means my Clan can do more, provide better for its members, promote the interests of the Tribe more, than it could if I were in the Republic.

Capsuleers aren’t even 1/1000th of a percent of the population. We’re not indicative of any societal trends.

Binky, the Minmatar government did much, much worse than that. A big chunk of the current Minmatar government engaged in a targeted, vicious, and bloody coup d’etat in order to become the current Minmatar government. They’ve continued to engage in a systemic effort to diminish one of the Seven, and are even now engaging in threats and attempts to intimidate a sovereign Tribe in what looks like an attempt to hide their own culpability in the mass murder of Sebiestor in Sundsele.

And you want to come in here and lecture us about what they’ve done? Boy, get a clue. Selling out ‘traditional Minmatar values’ is about the one thing they can’t be credibly accused of.

I don’t know many planetary farmers that can clone into a new body the moment they die. True, we are not literally immortal. We are functionally immortal. I don’t need a lesson in everyday cloning procedures.

I don’t know who you think you are, but I’m under no obligation to provide you proof of anything. Look it up yourself.

Ahh, I can see where you’re coming from now. No, I don’t support traditionalism ahead of progress. I’m saying, based on my information and study, that the traditional Matari culture is losing out to other cultures, not to it’s own Matari culture. I absolutely believe that a culture must progress or die.

Yet the Minmatar people continue to leave in droves for Gallente space.

I’m well aware of how the Republic works and functions. Even on the tribal level, every empire outside of Minmatar can see that there isn’t unity even on the most basic of levels.

I make more money out here than I could there. So my Clan makes more money with me out here, sending it more than 3/4 of my income, than they would if I was in the Republic. That means my Clan can do more, provide better for its members, promote the interests of the Tribe more, than it could if I were in the Republic.

Angus_Thermopollye:

So, you don’t see enriching the economy of a foreign empire as opposed to the one of your own native people to be a detriment to your society? Perhaps that’s why the Minmatar ended up in chains.

You really underestimate our impact into the governance of the empires, I believe. Yes, our percentage is statistically low but we literally have the capability to take the power away from the empires if we so choose.

You look at me as an enemy, an interloper. You can’t even see someone that is firmly on your side. Oh, well. Let me know how that works out for you all.

Oh for all good gods and spirits, if we could have one thread about Republic affairs without a condescending foreigner trying to teach us our own ways.

You are quite correct and I apologize @Elsebeth_Rhiannon .

This topic would have been better spoken of over the course of dinner and conversation with friends.

To which I am inviting you all, by the way. Please, come have dinner at the Trinity Station Complex in the Cat system with my crew and me. We’d love to treat you to a night of relaxation and good company as a firm apology.

Eh it’s ok. I apologize for my frustration, too. These have been very trying times.

I imagine so. It’s the universe we live in, though.

I dragged myself through the entire wailing wreck of this thread and I still have no idea who the ■■■■ you are.

Um, same? That’s not a very good insult, y’know?

Differences:

  1. I’m new. I don’t expect anyone to know who I am.
  2. I’m not barging into threads that have nothing to do with me in order to share my irrelevant opinions on how other people should conduct their business.

Just so this is not buried in the other big news of laterly: Sebiestor Tribal Marshals Confirm Bodies Found in Remote Tundra of Mikramurka Region; Locals Claim “Six Corpses Found with Datapads”.

In the light of other recent events, I think it is best if I calm down before I say anything else.
