Are Gas Harvesters affected by Mining Command Bursts?

My question basically?

Not sure. Now I’m curious!

I’m going to say no they are not, based on the description for the command bursts, from pyfa:

Mining equipment preservation charge: increase the lifespan of their advanced mining crystals.

Mining laser field enhancement charge: improve the range of their mining laser, ice harvester and survey scanner modules.

Mining laser optimization charge: greatly enhance the speed of their mining modules, allowing increased yield over time. This effect also reduces the capacitor requirements of the mining laser to compensate for the faster cycle times.

So they all appear to only apply to mining lasers, the one exception being for ‘mining laser field enhancement’ which also applies to ice harvester & survey scanner modules.

Pyfa… totally forgot to check in that.

Okay, so after creating a gas huffer fit and applying an Orca booster to it, I can confirm that… YES! According to Pyfa, Mining command bursts do apply to gas huffers.

They’ve always reduced cycle time, but last I checked they don’t increase yield. Granted, it’s been awhile since I huffed gas with boosts.

Reduced cycle time increases yield. 1/2 cycle time -> 2x yield, 1/3 cycle time -> 3x yield, etc.

What I meant is, the boosts will decrease your cycle time, but you don’t get the boosts such as apply to mining crystals. I’m honestly not sure about the increase to targeting range, I don’t think I ever tested it with gas harvesters.

Only the cycle time charges have an effect on gas miners, yes. But that is only about 5 seconds.

Oh, so you can’t get a range boost to gas harvesters? Drat.

Range boost does work. He was just saying that the boost applying to crystal integrity doesn’t apply since gas harvesters don’t use crystals. So only two of the three boosts are applicable.

Oh that’s nice. I don’t suppose you know the damage radius of a nullsec gas cloud by any chance?

My apologies, but I do not.

50km. Just fit to tank the damage. There is no way to avoid it. If you’re harvesting clouds that have double blasts consider staggering your gas harvesters to allow your repper time to catch any damage applied by the first cycle triggering.
