I hope you see we agree on this part. You seem to think that PVP is the only risk, but also that if a resource can be mined with no or little risk then the economy will break. But thats fear mongering
PvP is the ONLY risk, unless you’re an idiot and mine in the middle of a Sansha Incursion or right next to a Blood Raider FOB. In which case you deserve to lose your entire fleet…
Holy crap, I step away for 15 minutes…
Thats because thats how the game is currently designed
And how it has worked for the past 22 years. This isn’t a “current” design. EVE has been like this since day one…

But as you are part of AO, any attack on your structure would be an attack on AO…and you already know the size of fleets AO can muster. Plus you would probably not get attacked by Wrecking Machine for the same reason.
Let’s just go back to the days of being able to war dec anyone and everyone for any or no reason at all, whether they owned structures or not. You’d really see the salt flow then…
Yeah, now. But not everyone is and anyone who loses their whole fleet just to defend an Athanor will learn not to do that again.
I wonder how many people recognize the bad state the game is in and just spends their time and money on something else
But that is precisely why, as you’ve probably noticed, AO is a collection of not just the major AO corps but a host of smaller corps. No doubt some autonomy is lost in the process of having a powerful alliance to defend one’s corp…but that’s precisely how EVE works. Indeed, even in RL it is how NATO works. Liechtenstein would not last 5 minutes in a war…you can drive through it in less time than that. But it has powerful allies.
Those people won’t be missed. EVE is a niche game. Always has been, always will be…
EVE is sociopathic capitalism…in space. Apparently, there are only roughly 30k+ of us left with that mindset…
Yeah, 50k is still niche. WoW had literally millions of players, as have other online games.
If CCP believed it was a niche game they would not have made it to begin with, its something they started thinking recently, possibly to avoid blaming themselves for the lack of growth and player interest
EVE is the longest-running space MMO ever, and is, I believe, the 3rd longest running MMO in gaming history. I’d call that successful…
What is the word for that, thinking you’re successful but you are not which leads to your demise
A popular EVE Twitch streamer will have a few hundred people watching their stream compared to other MMOs with upwards of ten thousand watching.
So yeah. EVE is a niche game.
Mr Epeen
Its a bad game
