Are you experiencing drop outs?

It’s every 5 minutes there is a drop out.

Nope. Game is stable. Has been for months. Can’t remember the last time regular DCs occurred for me. Before summer 2025 some time.

Check for storms between you and London. Likely a node on the route is having power issues from a storm.

Use a VPN.

Thanks all.

Yes…. Add another hop over an already unstable network. That would help :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Only the launcher is cutting out on me. It has nothing to do with connection, just bad code. Ever since they upgraded for winter, I click on the Windows icon on my taskbar and it displays the logo in the basket on the right. It then stops loading or crashes without error report.

It takes me 2 or 3 attempts before the menu pops open with my characters. I am not filing a bug report, I am certain they are burning in Hell with the failed developers of Christmas past. I am thinking that the CCP development team works something like this;

In fact, a decent VPN increases the stability of your connection, and is likely to improve your connection to EvE Online. A decent VPN will reduce, not increase, the number of hops. I suggest you look into it!

To be fair, there are times where this can greatly improve connectivity, because of the way network providers have different peering agreements with other companies it is actually possible to end up with a lower number of hops between you and the destination, it can also help deal with any grossly mis configured routing tables that decide to send you to a neighbouring country instead of directly to where it should go

Using a good VPN is equivalent to paying extra so that you can drive in the express commuter lane. It’s more expensive internet, but its faster.

They must have advanced a lot in the last couple years. Last I tried one it slowed everything down to a crawl.

It depends on the VPN - I have good results with:

In support tickets, CCP has confirmed that a VPN is likely to improve latency, resulting in fewer disconnections.

Yes, and it’s being done by opening a support ticket, because CCP has been peering with multiple Tier 1 providers since 2011.: Introducing steps to improve network performance of EVE: THE FCP | EVE Online

Edit: Ok, in some situations, where your ISP does not have proper configuration, a good VPN could reduce the number of hops, but:

  • most VPN services are data gathering security nightmare
  • many are just pure fraud
  • many are not configured correctly
  • the real solution if you are having route issues is to contact CCP support so that they can utilize their routing tools to try to fix the problem. That’s the most effective way.
