If the recent, and really good ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ documentary exposed anything about Eve, it is the idea of deeply thought out and planned design. I am pretty sure Hilmar would even concede a staggering amount of what is there has developed with time organically, with best effort to be hands off as much as possible. That is miles away from it being all ‘designed that way’ and more so ‘this is the best we have, which works for now.’

i won’t dispute that.
however I will point out that the idea of being able to engage anyone in any space at any time has been a core design philosophy from the very beginning.

afaik: you could hisec suicide gank in the beta and it’s been part of EVE since day one.

The lowsec “pirates” are just miners and missioners who use this income to pay for their lowsec adventures. Making then effectively people who has to PVE to pay for their PVP.

Outside of certain pipes - like Rancer. Because I can vouch that piracy there pays quite well.

Mining and missioning is also repetitive and boring to make you sleepy, which also allows EVEs emergent gameplay.

Especially hisec mining. Not to mention it doesn’t even pay. Mining in jspace or LS… you have to keep watching or you will lose your fleet.

What is the purpose of CONCORD?

They teach lessons. They give away free licenses to kill, that you can use or sell for profit. They provide LP.

But you know all this. Get to the juice, you already tried to beef up the thread by changing its title from “Are you in favor of more ganking” to using fashionable, firebrand words like non-consensual… Would you like hisec to be completely safe ? Another anti-ganking thread ?

Since you ask i think high sec being completely safe (from ganking) is preferable to the current situation. The gankers can learn and adapt

Well, given that there is no such thing in EvE as non-consensual PvP when undocked, this thread takes an unexpected twist: should EvE players be able to gank each other in the alleged safety of a station/structure ? Open the mystery door from the Captain’s Quarters ? We’ve been dreaming about it ever since Incarna. I would be in favor, yes, haha, oh yesssss. But I’m certain that ccp would make that type of blood shedding also auto-consensual
The marriage of EvE Online with Deus Ex or an FPS. Oh boy, send in the hit team and the ninjas. Alas, it’s a dream.

Not really, there is too many people for too little loot. Just check Ahbazon. Sure some times a hauler autopilots its way with 5b in cargo, but ends getting dunked by 30 pilots + loot drop… try to plex your toons with that after splitting the cargo between the campers…

Fair enough. It wasn’t a problem in Rancer back when I lived there as a) PLEXing was about 1.6B at the time, b) we had no more than 10 people camping so loot splitting resulted in a decent income.

I also didn’t really care about loot as my main income is trade and industry (which are mostly afk activities - you do your part and then you are free to do whatever you want). Not to mention lazy PI - extraction into P1 in lowsec that paid for subscription with minimal sp, isk and time investments (other than the setup, that one always takes time). Essentially I was shooting people because I wanted to shoot. Good ol’ times. Maybe I should get back to it…
