Question for veterans on asset management. I’ve got eight or nine years worth of stuff strewn across eight or nine regions and no wherewithal to fetch it all myself. I’d prefer to liquidate but a lot of the volumes in these stations do not meet the minimum criteria for buyback programs. I do not have access to any logistics outside of public contracts. I’m not opposed to them but I would like to minimize cost if I can.
So when you’ve moved on from one part of the game to another, do you rely on local contracts and hope someone picks up on your firesale? I assume you’d use a market alt if that is the case.
Any advice or guides welcome. The sooner I can get this sorted, consolidated or otherwise, the better.
Assuming the goods are all in NPC stations, you have effectively two options, pay someone to haul it to a hub, or sell it in bulk. Hauling it is only going to be cost-effective for larger volumes of stuff, but you’ll be able to sell the items themselves for what they’re worth, whereas in a hangar cleaner sell contract you will have to offer a decent discount (because the buyer will have to haul it to a hub themselves).
If it’s really a firesale, it’ll get picked up fast. If you’re just selling at 80-90% Jita, don’t expect a quick liquidation. Traders will want to pick it up, but we want to turn profits on it, so you gotta make it worthwhile.
Haul yourself, which will take time; have it hauled by haulers (join Haulers Channel or use something like Red Frog), which will cost you a lot; or use Highsec Buyback Holding to sell off your junk at a discounted rate after you consolidated the stuff somewhat in one station; or just trash most of it if it’s worthless, nigh worthless items like Trit or T1 modules.
My personal choice: Leave it where it is. Maybe, some day, I feel like I want to do some hauling. Then I might haul it. Or not. I have stuff all over Eve. I don’t care much.
It always drives me nuts to have items spread all over the place. I like to have everything near me if all possible. I have a charon that doesnt get used very often so if you need items picked up and moved, i could possibly help you if you chose that option. I really dont care about isk but im sure a deal could be worked out.
Please no low or null sec routes. Im skeered.
( Not for myself, i just hate losing other peoples stuff )
No….I actively haul the stuff myself, and take it all to one station, sometimes Jita. I then have a huge reserve of spare parts…billions worth. A stack may have 56 T2 inertial stabilisers in it, for example. All handy stuff for fitting new ships.
The trick is that I don’t do this in hauler. I use a well armed Praxis or some other such ship with not too bad cargo hold. And along my route I can then hunt for suspects. So I am suspect hunting and hauling at the same time….which avoids the boredom of ‘just’ hauling. So if you see me in my Praxis, I’ve probably got some cargo I’m moving about.
I never leave stuff behind when I move from one location to another. Thats why I have only stuff where I need it for a certain purpose, everything else is liquidated aka transported to a trade hub (not nessessarily Jita) and sold. Or trashed if it isn’t worth hauling it.
Take stuff you need, leave the rest. A lot of people will eventually move all over the game and there’s little point in packing up and moving everything with you each time. Personally I just started stocking stuff in a few dozen systems around.
I have been in this for 3 to 4 years now, but I have stuff all across the universe. You can pay someone like me to haul your junk in a contract. Just make sure you make reasonable sized groups or it won’t fit in a hauler. You need to set your contract hauling fees at 10% or higher than collateral value for me to even consider hauling it. If you have fitted ships with rigs, you need to get someone with a bowhead to moved those.
I have an alt in my corp I toss them junk stuff, I get on as my main, and I don’t see the junk. It is still there, if I need or want it, but I don’t need to wade through garbage to find what matters.
I almost never move my items. I have a few headquarters in the game, spread out into different regions, and I keep them all stocked of essentials. I also went and counted how many stations there are I’m keeping my assets in and the count is 164.
Copy that, sounds like a hybrid approach might do the trick.
Extracted from Solitude on my own, only slightly puckered. Firesale contracts sound like the way to go for the stuff in NPC null, and opening some courier contracts to move the lowsec stuff to the nearest hub. Then I can worry about hangar cleanout services.
Appreciate you all sharing your wisdom. Take care.
I would spend about two hours stargate travelling all around trying to group together low volume items that are causing me grief when trying to scroll down the personal assets list.
I use the assets list as markers for places to go to. If I want to go to Amarr I don’t search Amarr in search…I just open assets list and there I can ‘set destination’. You only need a corvette in some station in a system for this to work. Thus when moving about EVE I regularly move everything but leave a corvette or a shuttle behind.
