There is no concept of “save” in EVE Online as it is a single “server”. Everything you do is saved immediately.

Can you explain more on what is lost?

no i must logout to save. i should not need to do that. but i got to or i loss everything. im playing this on Yellowbox. if i took my account to windows, would it save then?

Eve doesn’t have a concept of “save”. The universe you are playing in is persistent - it continues to exist and run even when you log off.
It’s how “the real world” works then the nearest analogy to “logging off” in is "going to sleep. If you go home (hotel / space station) and log off then in the morning you walk up and you’ve not lost anything - you are the same you from when you went to sleep. Same logging off and on. Similarly, go to sleep parked in a car in s rough bit of time then you may find someone has attacked you in the night.

I am assuming that each time you start the launcher you are actually logging in with an existing character/account you’ve created rather than creating a new one each time.

I can’t really believe you are asking this question if you’ve played Eve…

There’s probably a translation issue. What is a “Yellowbox”?

No matter what computer you use to log in, as long as you log into the Eve Online account associated with the billjenovamiller character you’re fine.

they fixed it for me. i can save now. thank you!

The Edge of tomorrow (“Live - Die - Repeat”, Tom Cruise) is a blockbuster about autosave. Those were the days…

I assume OP always had to change the settings in the launcher. These can be saved indeed.

That’s adorable.

Imagine if miners could just quick save before a gank. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Of course it would make no difference when it comes to afk miners.

They did… what?

I am right there with you on that same page. Got to love how cryptic this is with “Yellowbox” and it won’t auto save. Makes me wonder, if there is a shadow realm at work here. I did a Google search for yellow box game and all I found was a stacking puzzle game. I would love to hear the deeper explanation to this issue and the solution. Who is “they”?? I am afraid the thread will remain a mystery to us all.

The term yellowbox in EVE describes when someone or something (NPCs, players, whatever) target locks you but not yet shoot you, hence yellow brackets next to their ship icon or yellowbox.

First thing came to mind is OP wants to safe log but the logoff timer prevents this. However a yellowbox does not prevent safe logging, only a redbox (when offensive modules are actually activated against your ship).

Thus this doesn’t really add up. Unless OP confused yellowbox with redbox but dunno. It was also capitalized so that also seems odd but maybe as a specific term OP thought it is better to capitalize the word. Dunno. No conclusive detail to back it up just a faint stretch of guesswork.

Either way I am curious about the actual explanation as well but have the feeling we may never learn the details.

no it wasnt, it really sucked. i would not have wished that on the devil or evil people. I am happy the admins or whoever fixed it for me. it might be because i play in yellowbox and its always glitching almost every game like team deck did back in the old days…
I would not wish what i was going through on nobody…
I uninstalled and reinstalled 15 times before the game worked in the first place.

I am so fricken glad you returned. I have a lot of questions.

Are you using a cloud gaming service? Like GeForce Now but called Yellowbox instead?
Maybe you are on a console and not a PC? Recently Steam has the “Steam Deck” and they allow you to play a lot of games on the hand held system.

I am sure we are all happy you got this game working on whatever it is you are using. Even if it is a potato with a Mesa Abyss AI chip running it.

Yellowbox Dell Computers, I am on a Inspiron with Windows 7.
GeForce? YES. I use GeForce now. I installed the game 15 times before it worked.
I switched to GeForce a few days ago and was still having the same problem. I was told by a miner in deep space that he had the same problem and that loging in and out will force the game to save. I was telling myself “Bull crap, that would not work,” but it did work.

My computer is from 2009 and I am just happy to play this game!!

Now I understand. I am operating my desktop HP 6200 Pro from 2012. I use Linux OS Xubuntu with Wine 8.0.1 allowing me to play directly on my PC without a cloud service. I recommend setting your system up with a dual boot OS. Linux Mint is a bit more Windows user friendly. Most Linux OS will have a lot of support from the community and there are tons of tutorials on YouTube.

Otherwise whatever works, you can have fun playing this and other games is great. :+1:

Besides all the issues you have with your PC or Handheld device. Your PC should still be able to run the game ok-ish on low graphics (it may not look pretty, fps > looks) even if yours is 15 years old. Have you completed the tutorial and each of the 5 Career agents that the tutorial sends you to?

EVE is a niche (one of it’s kind) game with a steep learning curve, there are few games if any that can compare to it, so you should pay very close attention to what the game teaches you in the tutorial and career agents. You have the benefit to actually have a tutorial that teaches you the very basics of navigating in space in EVE. Back when I started playing in '09 there were no such thing as a tutorial, if you can image how that would have been for you.

Even decade old EVE players are still learning new thing to this day, myself included, because EVE is an ever evolving universe.

Not sure if you understood how the whole Skills and Skill Training works from the tutorial and/or career agents. To put it in words or concepts that you may be more familiar with: Skills and Skill Training function similarly to how Experience Points (XP) work in most other MMOs, WoW and Final Fantasy alike, in those you accumulate XP over time by killing monster, completing quests and running dungeons. In EVE Skill Points (SP) accumulate in real time, whether or not you’re actively playing, and when you have accumulated enough SP then you will gain a level (up to 5) in a skill which you have put in your Skill Training queue. Just like when you get enough XP to ‘Level Up’ you gain more power from your Abilities/Spells rank up or gain new ones. In EVE you gain power by training levels in skills affecting how your chosen ship performs, be it Damage Output/Projection, Maneuverability, Defense or Disruption of the enemy ship.

Above all else Knowledge of the game mechanics can tip the scale with or against you in a fight (NPC or Player).

Learning and understanding the game’s mechanics are such a key part to be successful in EVE so you should take your time to understand them. You cannot jump in and draw on your experience from other MMOs due to the facts mentioned in my 2nd paragraph above.

If you’re having trouble understanding some of the game mechanics you can always ask your questions in the ‘Rookie Help’ channel in-game.

“Slow and steady wins the game”

In spirit of the tutorial: “Death is only the beginning”

Sorry to hear that, not every game suits all people. Open world PvP can get tiresome at times and I have to take a break for real world activities or just to relax. At present, I have time on my hands and this game reminds me a lot of a retro EA game I played back in the early 90’s. No one can tell you what will suit you in gaming, but best wishes with your search to find those games.

Until then fly safe. o7

This couldn’t possibly be a troll post.
