Better immersion to fully respect the size and the details of ships

Playing EVE for more than 2 years now and I can never truly understand the way ships are presented on screen. They seem tiny and small, whatever the ship is, wherever it was, docked or flying. They look like toys honestly, and not multiple kilometer long behemots. I suggest implementing a ‘dynamic camera’ option in game with better close-ups on ships themselves.

(I already made a post long time ago about this Game immersion - better perspective on the size of the ship)

The camera would not only orbit the ship but have it get closer as it reaches its broad side, or when docked, we could get a lower side view so it can tower over the viewer.

This Covetor looks like a toy, doesn’t it? Nobody would’ve guessed it was 376 meters in length.

Whereas this Charon for example has some size to it when warping and when docked, but yet again, the camera is like 3 kilometers away from the ship itself in the station. I like how different stations give diferent looks on ships, but man, it could be so much better!

I quite liked the old walking in stations feature because it gave some sense of scale for the ships.

While I agree station walking was a neat and refreshing idea, it kind of spent a lot of resources to develop/implement/keep, and I personally wouldn’t mind if it didn’t exist in the first place. That’s why I’m suggesting simply different camera angles for players to ‘experience’ the scope of eve universe that won’t drain resources or be a ‘useless game mechanic’.
Imagine if every time you docked you are shown your ship in a differet state and environment. For example, closeups, down to the earth view, maybe even some minor animations like maintenance, loading of cargo for haulers and freighters, maybe even other ships being shown nearby as they dock/leave? There are tons of possibilities, and we are simply stuck with 360 spherical zoom camera that doesn’t even zoom all the way to the surface of big ships.

the cameras are drones, and the drones are your “eyes” in space. they are used in a defensive way so you as a capsuleer can see everything around you, considering you are locked in a tiny egg shaped pod full of goo.
