Python hull alone goes for about 1.5T so definitely not the biggest ever.
All in a single stack. 
Why does that matter? What advantage does splitting the stack give to the hauler? Players don’t plan on getting ganked and even then I would object that splitting the loot into more heaps makes it far more likely that the ganker gets 50% instead of nothing.

Seriously, people that are too dumb and or careless to use a scout and/or instadock spot when turning in such high amounts of tokens deserve nothing better.
To the hauler – only the advantage that if you’re gonna give people free paydays then at least you’re not giving them the ridiculous 1.6t payday should you be dumb or drunk enough to haul that value around in a single go.
I don’t know what the story is behind that loss. Random Crane killed in a rando system like that smells of foreknowledge of what was being hauled anyway. Some RMTs are handled like that, but I’m not making assumptions.
No. It makes it just as likely that you’re giving 50% instead of 100%. Might as well go with the 50% from the get go.
But again that would mean that you plan to get ganked. 
And single stacks is always worse for the ganker because more often than not they get nothing. If the loot is spread in multiple items (and not wrapped in box) then you almost always get 50% of the loot. Not sure if this is scripted or just unlucky but most of the single item loots from my targets didn’t drop, There was a time when 11 targets in row didn’t drop anything. But whatever, the more players you recommend to split the items the better.
If that would be the case then it doesn’t matter if you split or not at all…
EDIT: Okay some math for you. If he wouldn’t split, that was 50% chance the ganker gets 1.6T or nothing. If he would split into 2 even stacks that is 50% chance on each stack which is equal to 75% chance the ganker gets 800b or 50% chance he gets 1.6T. The more stacks you split into the higher chance for ganker to get more loot.

You’re terrible at math. Ganker has a 25% chance to get 0, 50% chance to get 800b, 25% chance to get 1.6t. Ultimately it works out to an expected value of 800b dropped.
Nothing I wrote is incorrect. I only didn’t include the chance to get fulll loot if splitted. Yes that would be 25%.
But getting 50% is what we want. For us, if you split the loot we are most likely to get at least something.
Look at it the opposite way.
If you don’t split the loot, the ganker has 50% chance of getting nothing out of it.
If you split into 2 heaps, the ganker has 25% chance of getting nothing out of it.
The more heaps you split into the lesser chance that ganker comes empty handed.
