Man, you have not single kill in Lowsec (which is the main issue here), you have a single solo kill at all (accidentally the Ceptor didn’t warp off in time and got eaten by drones) and on your average killmail are 40 (FOURTY) dudes. Which means your contribution to each of those kills was literally zero and your smallscale experience (which is the issue with BlackOps) is also zero.
Arguing with you about PvP mechanics is a pure waste of time. You know nothing of value related to this topic. Do everyone a favor and just reflect how little you know about what is talked about here, Mr. Dunning-Kruger.
Except those few wolves use CONCORD to protect themselves. You can’t pre-emptively defend yourself because, by their very nature, they will be using disposable glass cannon ships, and being the aggressor would simply have CONCORD kill you for them anyway.
Outlaw status is supposed to allow you to defend yourself against people who repeatedly break Empire law, but CCP folded like a paper tiger when gankers cried and bitched about being stuck with outlaw status. So CCP added clone tags as a “get out of jail for some pocket change” mechanic. Which defeats the whole point of the system in the first place. Now there’s zero long term penalty for gankers in Empire space doing as they please.
You mean other than all the people sitting on High-Low sec connection gates? Like say, Ahbazon?
As for high sec suicide ganking specifically, that would be the fact that it’s heavily biased towards people who multibox. You don’t need it, but having six suicide bombers, and a loot scooper of your own to clean up with afterwards, does make it a lot easier compared to someone with just their one account, and whatever friends they have on at the time that aren’t busy doing other things.
Ganking, by it’s very definition, is using massed numbers to suddenly force a heavily one sided advantage. The equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel. If that’s your drug of choice? Then have at it.
What is ganking?
I suppose I am uniquely qualified to answer this question.
I am Aiko, Danuja of Danera, the galaxy’s most prolific, experienced, and successful ganker. There are currently twelve people in EvE Online, who are roleplaying as some version of me… So let me introduce the real me, since some are confused. I was once just a new capsuleer in Conoban, but I enlisted in the Crusade on CODE. Day, and that’s where the Guiding Hand found me. I was raised in Isanamo, by the VCBees and the AGBees and the K names. When I went on pilgrimate to Holy Halaima, 315 addressed me directly, “Aiko Danuja keep up the good work.” On another occasion, 420 sent me a hundred billion isk and 300 Solana. I think 400 still supports me, even after what I did. 001 is now my best friend across nine Discord servers. Over the years, they all taught me the zen of ganking, and I have endured endless lectures on the philosophy of the New Order and the history of the Greater Groon. Once upon a time, these angels descended upon the Hulks with fury, and then they said it was my turn. They gave me the keys to Hulkageddon. They put the crown of Highsec upon my head. As a lawful paladin, I have accepted their wisdom, and it guides me.
Ganking is the art of precisely applying minimal DPS in order to kill a target, with your destruction guaranteed automatically within a few seconds. It is the opposite of blobbing, which employs maximal DPS. Unlike filthy blobbers, who stare at a gate, I employ applied astrometrics in order to hunt down and destroy the very alts of those who orbit the gate. Frequently, I arrest a hapless PAPI exhumer, grinding desperately to replace his carrier. FRT bots are everywhere!
Ganking is done exclusively in Highsec, which ensures a significant handicap, as ganking vessels will be destroyed. Concordokken occurs even when the opponent is completely AFK and can’t fire a shot! Of course, in reality, targets are not AFK. I have to be fast in order to catch some of these bad boys, and you can learn a lot from my hit single: Better Dock Up Quick! Not only can targets return fire, but they are frequently supported by an entire combat fleet, which is itself reinforced by the invincible NPC armada.
Carebears have cloaky Lokis and blingy Nestors, but they don’t actually need any of that. I operate with killrights and negative security standings, allowing even newbros to catch me. I am routinely hunted by interceptors, ambushed by Tengus, and haunted by Blackbirds. I am never cloaked like the cowards do. I am constantly in motion, evading threats while maneuvering toward an unknown target. Ultimately, I must successfully accomplish my strike against the odds, and within the confines of economics. Like all things in EvE, ganking appears far more challenging once you consider the math.
After dealing with all that, one must follow the Four Noble Truths. A true ganker must not become a troglodyte permabanned racist, or support those who are. I know from experience how difficult it can be for a ganker to avoid becoming a sad bitter gankbear. Many go bankrupt, or weep in despair, gnashing their teeth as they curse my name. Fortunately, through the application of best Safety. practices, my friends and allies know how to farm sustainably, ethically, and with both class and style. Those other guys might be griefing, but we are winning hearts and minds! Now that’s what I call elite PvP.
You misunderstand. I haven’t talked about defending myself beyond“shoot/flee” and for me it would be more like “flee”.
I, too, can be using Disposable Glass Cheap Ships. I mean two can play that game.
That’s fine by me, it’s not like I want to fight people with a sure advantage. I’m already not interested in fighting in video games in general.
It will just have to be cheap ships and sh- cargo.
Easy loss easy replacement.
Which may be why you aren’t aware of the blops groups near where you fight.
As you are a wormholer I expect you have the advantage of being able to pop up anywhere in space for a fight. But a disadvantage of that mobility is that you won’t know the ins and outs of the area you fight in, like the staging system of the local blops group.
For those of us who do have a home in k-space we tend to know who else is living or deployed nearby.
I like the idea of a spool up timer. Fifteen seconds until you are able to jump to a cyno, and fifteen seconds after the jump until you are able to lock a target.
There are two additional ideas I could see working well with this.
The first is a jump jammer. This would be a deployable structure that interferes with jump drives, making it impossible to lock onto a cyno. As a result, hotdroppers would be forced to leave the system via stargates.
The second is the inability to cloak while a capsuleer log off timer is active.
You just explained why smallscale roaming and spontaneous engagemends are largely dead. Especially as entry level pvp for newbros and casuals.
You as a nulseccer are so used to a game of alts, eyes, tools, intels, a ‘close to 100% surveillance’ and lts of backup escalation options (aka The Blob) that you can’t even imagine how badly EVE needs to get rid of all that.
The game was 10x more enjoyable when players could just group up and fight. Without the possibility of some large local landlords curbstomp teleporter fleet just instanly appearing on scene throug a magic portal.
