T2 Bowhead jf argument has already been brought up and stated, yes. I just think the idea must be kept alive. lol. Moreover, to be fair, I am not sure the debate was ever properly rebutted.
Some of the arguments against the idea included; “the Bowhead is mainly used in High Sec and that’s its primary use-case”, “Already exists: it’s called a carrier.”, or “Bowhead is mainly used in High Sec and that’s its primary use-case, where a Jump Drive is about as useful as wings on a whale.”
If the ‘hehe’ “Longbow” were to ever come to fruition, it would quite possibly change vast amounts of nullsec battle outcomes. Solving logistics to jump into systems and stock up on reships ahead of a major offensive, Or to allow a fleet of capsuleers to get together for an Op and pod into a system where their fleet of ships are already waiting for them. Allow alliances to jump straight form a major HS market hub as we already do with other jf’s loaded with completely fit ships etc…
The possibilities and scenarios seem endless. That and its time again for some new ships to be dropped in game for us to skill onto.
I will tag @Mike_Azariah since afik he put lot of work into making bowhead possible as CSM member. And with that knowledge, probably best person to explain why above idea won’t be fulfilled by CCP.
We don’t need to make EVE even smaller. JF already where mistake that severely damaged EVE.
Jumping is only allowed in low and null sec, where you have capital ships with large (or in the case of supercaps: huge) ship maintenance bays to carry fit ships around.
As capital ships with their SMB are not allowed in high sec, the Bowhead replaces the role of SMB ship in high sec.
I don’t really see the point in a ‘bowhead jump freighter’ as the bowhead is only needed in areas where jumping isn’t allowed, which contradicts the ‘jump’ part.
Every capital ship can already fill the role of ‘bowhead jump freighter’ outside high sec.
To say that “We don’t need to make EVE even smaller. JF already where mistake that severely damaged EVE.” is pretty one-sided. Have you lived in any nullsec systems before? Nullsec is just as important as highsec when it comes to ore etc, and even more critical when it comes keeping a strong offense/defense stance not to mention its logistics/general production. Jumpfreighters are very important to some of us.
Also, “I don’t really see the point in a ‘bowhead jump freighter’ as the bowhead is only needed in areas where jumping isn’t allowed, which contradicts the ‘jump’ part.” Jump freighters are able to jump ‘from’ highsec to low or null security systems but not up (same goes for the Blops battleships). This is what keeps space-truckers isk flowing & adds to the value of such a boat.
Also Bowhead can fit 1.6mil m3 in the ship maintenance bay which makes it niche in ship shipping role. Again, nullsec … ever tried to logistically keep a 400++ man fleet fully fit with ships & reships? lulz
Is it? You only saying that JF are important for null because you guys are lazy. Did you even played before them? I remember being part of defense fleet of daily trade convoy gating from trade hub all the way to our home. What took bunch of friends and few hours of effort now takes one man, bunch of alts and few mouse clicks.
