Bring back the MARAUDERs 100% plates bonuses! FUN or DUST!

It’s not implied, that’s you assuming and twisting things out of context..

From now on any of your replies directed towards me that are not on thread topic will be reported…

So you aren’t saying that the reason for a pvp free zone is because ganking of newbros is a common issue?

Which is it?

You’re not wrong.

0.0 = no security, right?

So my question is, why do they bother calling >.5 “high security”?

Because it’s higher than all the rest of the security bands.

Because “sucks-to-be-you-sec” was too long.

Because you have a magic CONCORD shield in 0.5 and above, which makes sure that you only need to take care to survive for ~25 seconds and then an unbeatable police force appears that makes short work of any attackers. And that is not very complex when following some very simple rules that anyone can learn within a few days.

Which means the area as safer than any other area (Low, Null, Pochven, Wormholes), thus it is at a “high” security level. Not “complete security”.

Except with the 30+ multi-boxing fleets, CONCORD just doesn’t matter in most high-sec systems.

People keep on about these 30+ multi-boxing fleets but I never see them

I see 10, I see 8.

I think the 30+ ones must be made of straw.

Do an advanced search on zkillboard for high-sec and high-sec ganks. Look at some of the parties involved… Most are 8+. I found more than a few over 30+ though.

you keep ignoring the important part:

Being ganked is almost always the end result of a chain of mistakes. It is not an inevitable fate.

Starting with undocking…

More undocking without scouting in someway, via Uedama scout, alt, friend, personally with a shuttle etc.

I’ve searched zkill, and I’ve not found evidence of these 30+ gank fleets you keep on about.

Like I say they seem to be made of straw.

You’re doing something wrong then. Gankers will tend to bring the minimum ships for the job. However…

None of those show a 30+ multiboxer.

There’s 31 Crayon’s on one page, but two of those are Top Damage and Final Blow, so that’s a 29 multiboxer and Moonpire would seem to have 25 boxen.

Admittedly that’s more boxen than I’ve seen before, but 2 players with 25+ boxen is hardly a plague which is breaking the game.

That’s just speculation, or perhaps an attempt to manipulate the discussion using vague concepts. It’s generally not a good idea to compare and analyse apples and oranges unless you’re trying to be a “spin doctor”.

There’s no point in directly comparing high-sec to null-sec, PvE explorers to alliances at war, ganking to fleet battles, or mission runners to major null-sec coalitions. Those activities operate under completely different conditions and incentives. Most high-sec gank losses involve expensive ships being used in activities that are largely unrelated to PvP. Their closest null-sec equivalents aren’t fleet combat ships either, but rather high-value PvE and industrial assets such as Rorquals, Dreadnoughts, Carriers, Supercarriers, and Titans engaged in non-combat activities.

We also have to consider the scale of the entities involved. That’s exactly why concepts such as percentages, indexes, and per-capita metrics exist. Raw numbers alone rarely tell the whole story.

Per capita is a statistical term used to calculate the average of a specific metric—such as income, resource consumption, or disease rates—across an entire population by dividing the total amount by the number of individuals.

  • Economic Metrics: You cannot accurately compare the economies of two countries by looking at their total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) alone. A highly populated country like China might have a higher total GDP than a smaller country like Switzerland, but Switzerland’s GDP per capita will be much higher, providing a more accurate reflection of individual prosperity.
  • Social Statistics: It is widely used to measure things like crime rates, vehicle accidents, or energy consumption so that you can fairly compare a small town to a major metropolitan area.

And that’s not true.

Ganking isn’t a major problem for me personally, but it is a problem for players who follow certain gameplay styles. High-sec ganking by groups like Safety or Novus Ordo is no different in principle from the drops and ganks carried out by groups such as Bombers Bar, LowSechnaya Sholupen, or Snuffed Out against null-sec entities. Just as high-sec players have CONCORD as a response mechanism, null-sec players have their own defensive infrastructure: intel networks, cyno jammers, bubbled gates, standing fleets, capital umbrellas, and so on. If these threats weren’t real, people wouldn’t invest so much effort into maintaining all of that tedious infrastructure.

A more respectful and accurate response would be: “Ganking isn’t a problem for me” rather than claiming that ganking isn’t a problem at all. Whether it is a problem largely depends on the type of gameplay you’re engaged in.

Just think of them as a corporation of multiboxers. :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s a lot of words, but no actual facts or numbers.

You say @Syzygium 's numbers don’t tell the whole story but provide us with none of your own as a counter. It’s all well and good saying that per-capita might be a better method of counting but if you don’t give us any numbers we can’t see what the per-capita statics are saying.

Furthermore given the population of highsec being higher than that of low or null, or at least I think it is, and nullbears being at least as juicy targets as carebears, I’d say the ISK lost/capita to surprise PvP is likely lowest in highsec.

Give us some numbers, and then we’ll most likely see these numbers support the position that highsec ganking is pretty much a non-issue.

and why would I do that? there’s multiboxers in my corp, that doesn’t mean the whole corp is 1 person.

Put three corporate multiboxers, who could just be friends playing together, in the same fleet, and you’ll suddenly have 40+ ships performing synchronized operations.
