Marauders were nerfed for a good reason. Undoing all those nerfs and giving them 2 more guns for no reason is going to turn the game into Marauders Online. Seriously, anyone suggesting giving marauders +2 hardpoints and not reducing their damage bonuses is either crazy or stupid. They already get a 100% bonus to damage so that 4 hardpoints looks more like 8, and you think they need 50% more?
I sacrificed tank for dps when flying around in polarised marauders to run missions, the loss of resists felt reasonable for the 4-5k dps I got in a battleship.
They’re not buffer tanks, they’re active tanks so running polarised was actually not that bad. They don’t need buffer tank, just grow a pair and fit hard over on active.
2 launchers, you’re proposing a battleship can field approx 6-7k dps? You know that right?
I respectfully disagree about the hit points. All battleships (including Marauders) should have these.
The idea wasn’t to give them an extreme amount of DPS - just a way to counter small ships and drones (with an adjustment to power grid to prevent abuse like mounting a pair of cruise or torpedo launchers).
Marauders are an extremely powerful battleship. Built around being a high damage but committed platform.
It does this by utilizing the most powerful active tank available to a sub cap. Their only real vulnerability is their capacitor and difficulty swatting small ships especially at range. Something that became ignorable when utilizing a buffer tank especially on one’s like the golem who was able to utilize the incredible resists to create a monstrously powerful passive tank.
If you want them to get the same hit point bonus from buffer mods you’re going to need to gut their resists.
Ccp rolled out a buff to battleships in general this buff wound up being too powerful with how it synergized with the existing stats of a marauder. So it was rolled back.
Then you want to go further and try to make them more effective against small ships?
Don’t go into a system with gankers, that’s what paying attention to your surroundings entails…I say this as a person who regularly missions in high sec and never been ganked.
We’re not talking about Uedama… Gankers can show up in any system. It’s the buffer and not reps that determines your survival. It’s great that you haven’t been ganked; others have not been as fortunate.
Again, pay attention to surroundings. I never once mentioned Uedama. People lose ships because they don’t pay attention or get suspect baited. We should not be encouraging that behavior.
