Bring back the MARAUDERs 100% plates bonuses! FUN or DUST!

Seems like a valid tactic.

I don’t really care either way. I don’t care. I’m just going to provide a simple example.

Let’s imagine, hypothetically, that we have 1,000 high-sec mission runners, industrialists, and T6 Abyss runners in total pilots who collectively lose 10 ships to ganks in a single day. At the same time, all null-sec alliances with 30,000+ active players/accounts loses 99 ships to ganks or drops today.

High-sec:

PChi = 10 / 1,000 × 100% = 1.0%

Null-sec:

PCnull = 99 / 30,000 × 100% = 0.33%

In absolute numbers, null-sec lost far more ships (99 vs. 10). However, relative to the size of the population involved, the impact on the high-sec group was roughly three times greater.

That’s why raw loss numbers alone don’t tell the whole story. You also need to consider the size of the population being affected.

Yeah but those hypothetical numbers are all wrong. So you’re wasting all our time.

And this is the reason why somebody is speculating on this topic. Because it’s hard and tedious to compute, there’s no good data to sort all those values apart between all scenarios and ship types etc. Therefore, most zkillboard raw numbers also are wrong to make such comparisons or claims as I mentioned in that post.

Do you think he knows that the population of HighSec is actually larger than the population of Nullsec?

I assume that is common knowledge, but there’s nowt as ignorant as folk.

Do a search in zkillboard and pull the #'s yourself. I just picked 3 random kills - but there were a lot more.

Even if there is only a 1% chance of getting ganked its still too high. Its the feeling of not being able to play in peace that is the problem. You can keep arguing that ganking only happens to a minority of people and that you are totally able to avoid it. But thats not the point personally. But the point is ganking makes playing the game IN HIGH SEC feel unsafe. And who wants to play a game like that? Most people wont.

And just to be clear its only high sec we are talking about. The reward dont have to be exceptional. But it shouldnt feel unsafe to play there.

That’s not how debate works.

You have an unsubstantiated claim that EvE is full of gangs of 30+ multiboxers who are ruining it. We will see this for the straw man argument it is unless you can provide evidence to the contrary.

It doesent matter if there 30 gangs tag teaming or 1 gang camping 24/7

I thought you were ignoring me.

Apparantly you cannot ignore people on this forum

I never said they were ruining it - just that they were prevalent. I don’t really have the inclination to go back further than 90 days and do a comprehensive search on zkillboard (and it’s not the easiest on mobile).

Its been that way since launch. Its supposed to be that way…period.

I, and the majority of the people that are here do. The people that dont didnt do their due research as usual, skipped the tutorials, and thought they were in NMS.

Its just humorous to me that this thread has transcended into another ganking thread.

The 1% isn’t a probability (chance); it’s a per-capita metric. In other words, it represents the proportion of players engaged in a specific activity, flying specific ships, who lost a ship or capsule to ganking on that particular day.

It’s important to understand

Most likely, that 1% wouldn’t include the majority of alpha clones, FW players passing through high-sec trade hubs, station traders, low-level mission runners, most high-sec explorers, and many other groups. A large portion of the player base has little to no chance of being ganked in expensive or very expensive ships simply because they don’t engage in the activities that typically attract gankers.

That’s why looking only at total loss numbers can be misleading. The relevant question is not how many ships were lost overall, but what proportion of the players participating in a particular activity were affected.

Again, there’s no magic solution. You simply have to manage the risk one way or another.

Move your operations to quieter regions and use jump clones. Learn the game mechanics well enough to understand your vulnerabilities. Switch ships when appropriate. Speedrun missions when possible. Set up insta-dock and insta-undock bookmarks. Use intel and pay attention to D-Scan. Even then, you can still lose a ship if you get distracted in real life and stop paying attention to Local or D-Scan.

I once lost a Gila to a very simple gank because I got stuck and bumped into some scenery junk while trying to warp out. Just one second earlier, I had spotted five Catalysts on D-Scan at around 5 AU. That was not my mistake but RNG. On the other hand, D-Scan has saved me hundreds of times in low-sec, null-sec, and wormhole space.

If you’re dealing with connection lag, internet issues, health conditions or any other circumstances that make it difficult to react consistently, choose some “slower or tanky” paths and don’t fly something you can’t control properly or can’t afford to lose.

So what, your chances to running into one of these and them actually targeting you is pretty much zero if you stick to a handful of simple rules that everyone can learn in a few days.

They just farm the lazy and the dumb.

And this feeling of “being unsafe” is adressed with Exordium. Have fun, go into there and feel safe all day long. Problem solved. CCP/FC is doing a great job.

This is pure gold.

It’s completely and inevitably boring. It’s almost impossible to discuss anything on this forum without a ganking debate popping up, which slowly and deliberately descends into tomfoolery. Most of the time, you don’t even know whether you’re responding to a genuinely interested player or someone’s alt.

Is that supposed to be a joke?

Did read all of the limitations applied to Exordium?
