Buff Defenders in Wardecs

I think the defender should be able to prolong the war, even after their structure is destroyed. This would force Absolute Flag to choose more carefully when declaring war, as defenders can band together and fight back. The current format rewards blobbing and leads to stale content, as wars end before the defender can organize.

In a real war, you can’t just declare victory and be done - if the defender wants to fight, you are stuck in the war you started. Just look at the current war between the US and Iran. Under EvE’s wardec rules, the US might just claim victory. In reality, the defender has a vote, and can continue fighting long after the winner feels they ‘won’.

How long could they prolong it? Until the aggressor’s HQ is destroyed?

Sounds good to me.

I would prefer to do something with those who are using separate organizations to hold their structures…

Unless you remove ACLs from structures and make them corp/alliance members only (a la the coming ansiblex change), I don’t see how you can prevent the creation of holding corps.

They should just bring back the ability to wardec people regardless of whether they have a structure. If there were too many wardecs previously, then they can increase the wardec cost, or exempt smaller corporations while letting large alliances be wardec eligible - problem solved.

I think <5 or <10 member corporations should be exempt. Maybe even if they have a structure.

Ya, I’m fine with whatever - but these large alliances should not be exempt.

I don’t even think my alliance should be exempt.

Exempt due to lack of structures?

There is a much easier solution:

Once you have declared an offensive war, you are freely wardeccable by everyone. All wars end once your last structure is destroyed. So, wage war on your own risk, you might not like the backlash.

Especially if you like the “old system”, now you can make it true for your group: just declare a war! Congratulations, your groups is now wardeccable by everyone.

Corps over 1k players should be wardecable regardless whether they have a structure or not. These are not “social groups of friends” anymore, they are racketeering schemes.

Even that seems a bit high. I’d say more than 100 members for a corp. Maybe 1000 for an alliance. But yeah, there should definitely be some point where you’re too big not to be war eligible.

Sounds good to me.

Maybe you can be given a free structure, an astrohaus in a random highsec system, when you reach 101 members.

I agree, good idea!

Let defenders continue fighting if they want.

On topic of war dec improvements:

I’ve always though being war-immune should come with a bigger cost, so there’s more of an incentive to be war eligible.

A new additional NPC tax stacked on top of the usual corp tax for war-immune corps allows players to choose between risk and reward.

To choose between tax-immune and war-immune.

Even better is that such a tax means players have to put in actual effort to make their corp an improvement over NPC corps, so newbies are more likely to get a better place to land in, instead of ‘random tax haven corp Nr 3626521 with two AFK players and their alts’, or worse, feel encouraged to make their own solo war-immune tax-immune corp and miss the multiplayer content and a lot of the help this game has to offer.

It always bugged me that making a war mutual doesn’t just work this way and the attacker can go, “Oops, nvm,” and dip.

The problem is that it’s not very cost-effective to try and maintain a structure in high-sec to be war eligible.

My suggestion therefore is that you don’t need a structure to be war-eligible.

Choosing to get rid of the NPC tax also should make you war-eligible.

Yes, that’s a good point. War immune corporations should have a base tax rate comparable to the NPC corps. If you want 0% tax, you should be war eligible.
