Build new star gates around Niarja

Since I commanded the defense, I will tell you exactly where your CSM was. Mike Azariah was in my fleet, alongside 130+ other people, trying to save that system. He took a break from giving away free ships to newbros in order to get into a Scimitar to heal people whilst they tried to save the system.

Where were you?

Because as far as I am concerned, I can understand that you’d want to refrain from going into the system once it went First Liminality, but if you were not in that system and trying to save it when it was still in the Stellar Reconnaissance phase, you have absolutely no right to complain about the outcome, or throw shade at the CSM who was fighting to stop it for hours on end.

That is the core difference between the blackout in null and the fall of Niarja. The blackout in Null was just a thing CCP did, which negatively impacted the playability of the game there. The fall of Niarja happened because the people who had a vested interest in saving the system refused to stand up and fight for it. It is because a large portion of the highsec population refuses to acknowledge the simple truth that naked force has resolved more conflicts throughout human history than any other factor. The first phase did not even require you to PVP.

I’d completely understand if you had IRL stuff that conflicted with the timing of the fight though. IRL comes first. But if that is not the case, then I say that if a week-old newbro can get into a 12-16 million ISK cruiser to grind boring PVE for hours to push a bar in your favour, so can you.

I was working mandatory overtime in a real life Public Service. Since this GOD DAMN pandemic and RIOTS in the USA I have logged some serious MANDATORY overtime. I was finally able to take a week off and log in after 9 days of being unable too! However Your FINE point is sound. I just cannot understand why CCP insists on bringing Null Security stuff to HIGH SECURITY SPACE! With honor and respect! Mike Azariah was more then happy to get involve in a good fight! Again with honor and respect. Mike is no dummy. I am sure every pilot he gave a ship too will remember him next election. ( Still awful great of him to do that! ) PVP is a good aspect of this game. My omegas occasionally go mix up and when I lose ( 95%) of the time I am ok and have a good time. But lets imagine an bizarre alternate reality! The Miner Gods backed by Concord seized NULL SPACE blocking Jump Freighters forcing PVP players to mine ORE as homage so they can get back to PVPing! I promiss you would see pandemonium!

This whole “WHUR CSM???” idiocy is not something that really deserved a serious response.

The OP’s initial invocation of the CSM is, itself… basically insane. It is not the CSM’s job to make sure he’s never personally inconvenienced by a gameplay change.

Should not the CSM be fighting for the smaller players in High Security Space? Again Goonswarm is incredibly smart. They did not show to sack Nijara without a reason. Maybe it was for pure glory but I suspect it was other reasons. Oh did I mention CSM players are all Null Security giants. Again I have no need or issues with the CSM. I treat them like another customer in a Restaurant that is CCP’s EVE ONLINE. If CCP is ok with letting one group of customers run their Restaurant. Who the hell am I to tell CCP anything. I will sit back and see what happens. I suspect some cancellations are coming CCP’s way.

They sacked Niarja because their enemies said it was important to them. There’s not much other reason.

No, they’re not. @Mike_Azariah certainly isn’t and neither was @Steve_Ronuken when he was a member of it.

In that case I can’t fault you. The situation in the USA looks pretty drastic from across the pond. Thank you for helping out with that. Bob knows they need it.

Neither do I, but when you consider how this content has been driving people to play for 48h straight just to push a bar, I don’t think much thought was given to the effects of the content or the toll it would take on the players participating in it.

I’m a Lowsec FW player myself but even if that was gone, no force on earth or heaven would be able to get me into a mining ship. That said I do consider it somewhat unfair because the highsec population does not have the organization and knowledge to fight back by a long mile.

There was that idea of player made stargates years ago.

Also if this upsets you, you should have joined EDENCOM.

Can I have your stuff?

No? No. Not in the wholly self-absorbed sense that you seem to think they should be, anyway.

Well said Sir. You have brought fine points to make me ponder my decision. Maybe month to month.

You do realize that most mining is done in Null-Sec, right?

It’s not a HS island… yet. Well, not most of it. 3 systems in the Bleak Lands behind Raravoss are a new island, little things here and there are springing up like that. But the bulk of Amarr HS is still mainland.

The only way it becomes an island is if Ohide or another system on the narrow back path from Amarr to Rens is trig nullec’d. Until then, the direct Amarr/Jita path is just turned into the Amarr-Rens-Hek-Jita path (I don’t list Dodi because you don’t have to go through Dodi, but you have to go near it… 2j to 4j away from it, depending on exact path, IIRC… you actually don’t have to go through Rens either, but you must be at least 1j from it on the HS path. Hek is the only one you have to hit on the back path).

Some of us already used that path for moving expensive things, like incursion battleships. Ah, the good ol’ days.

I’m way out of the loop. Are incursions still a thing?

Sure, but because CCP lowered the spawn rate in HS from 3 at once down to 1 at once when the Trig Invasions began, there’s a lot less fields to farm now. And there’s 1-2 days of downtime between each focus/constellation.

My group and several others = pretty much dead for 6+ months, and while I know people who are still doing it… they’re few and far between.

Like riding a bicycle though, if enough people are around during your TZ, easy enough to get back at it. If you still have your ships/fits, ofc. Niarja/Kaap being down, though… man. I already only liked to move to Amarrian focii… this seals the deal.

Sad to hear your group has drifted apart.

I’ve never tried incursions. This might be a loaded question but what’s a good entry level ship to bring

Many of us tried living in a WH for 20 straight months, and while in there, the incursioning in HS was mostly on pause anyway. So many peops lost interest, found other new “main games” or… just got way too busy with IRL. It happens.

Well, I started with a Mega/Navy Mega, but it doesn’t take long to afford a Vindicator or Nightmare these days compared to 5-10 years ago.

Lots of out of date info in the bottom link, including my on-pause/defunct group (USTZ, 2nd from the bottom). I mostly did VGs from 2015 to 2019, the 2nd of 4 levels of sites (shorter sites, 4, 5 minutes and done… lots more warping between sites). But most players who do incursions are doing HQs, the top level (slower site, less warps per hour, more DPS taken and given, but a bit higher payouts over time).

Sadly, few groups like assault sites, the 3rd of 4, but IMO some of the most fun.

From what I heard bubbles don’t work so it’s not really 0.0. More like low-sec. meh.

Have you read a MER since… well, as long as I can remember?

Null is way down to 11 trillion in June. Empire is at 13. Nullbears can mine. June null numbers are seriously down after moon mining changes, possibly as much as 50% but I honestly can’t be asked to type any more numbers right now.

Bottom line: high sec has no monopoly on mining. Hell, it’s arguably safer to mine in null. And lots of people do it.
