Burst Jammer replacement

well with the recent Burst Jammer Nerf,

what would you fit instead into a smaller ship … like an Astero for WH surveys

the burst jammer did safe the ship almost evey time it got jumped on, (never lost one actually)
but i’m a but clueless what other countermessures i could use now.

since Drones are pretty much useless, and ny other modules requires a target lock.
cheers

Can you link your fantasy Astero with ECM? Is it like that Astero with warp core stabilizers? The reason you got TARGET is because you’re doing it wrong. Maybe it’s a bad fit, maybe it’s poor execution, maybe it’s just bad mechanics.

It’s like those miners calling for Concord on grid with a corvette; what you have to do is dont AFK and keep an eye on your accounts, the same goes for the Astero.

whats “fantasy” about putting a burst jammer in the mids of an astero?

link the fit.

There is nothing magical using a ECM burst.
also i’m pretty sure i specifically wrote that OTHER modules require target lock.

and was asking for a recommendation to replace the functionality.

here you go

[Astero, ...]
Burst Jammer I

This one’s probably the most representative of Burst Jammer’s fits :poop:

About the astero that fits a burst jammer module, it cannot be linked because such a fit does not exist.

yes, which is the whole point of the topic…
as the fit does not work anymore since 29 hours or so

Hmmm is that meant to be serious?
T1 mod on a 100m isk hull? Cap battery? Armor repair without DC, membranes or coatings despite a low slot being empty and fitting not used up? No tackle on a combat explorer? No analyzer, either?

It’s not hard to design a meme scorpion that has more scan strength then that astero and has a tackle nevertheless and an analyzer and a burst jammer and enough smartbombs to blow up whatever a t1 burst jammer could get rid of. Oh, the scorpion’s still allowed to have burst jammers, in fact it is even bonused for it.

thank you, your fantasy fit its amazing. The bad news: CCP doesn’t balance modules for Jam with an Astero when a Catalyst wants to kill your mining ship.

Used to run this with a Burst Jammer II in the empty high slot, using a Scan Acquisition Array now after the nerf.

Comments about the Astero aside, it’s still is a bad nerf.

Having a burst jam saved my butt in a WH many times.
Guess not any more.

There are some ways of defense:

  1. Local Chat / Dscan
  2. Warp Core Stab = casual solo pirate warping in with a T1 cruiser
  3. Burst Jammer = close range
  4. ECM Drones = single enemy, fails mostly

The Burst Jammer has saved my mining barges a couple of times allready. Without having this defense I am forced to play it more safe and basically rely more on local to just warp off if somebody enters.

Without it, I don’t really wanna mine in lowsec anymore, because it’s the only way to properly defend against cloaky hunters.

Warp Core Stab + ECM burst, had defenses for long point and scram on your ships.
Now there is no way to get away from a Loki decloaking right next to you.
All lowsec miners I knew had an ECM Burst Jammer fitted. Especially people that mine with multiple barges.

what did that poor Astero do to you that you should treat her so bad?
it’s a wonderful hull. fit it properly, have some situational awareness and she’ll do right by you.

mine too, i really have no clue what the trolls are about .. it worked flawlesly.

I support it, the CCP simply removed the chance mechanic without providing anything in return. It became no longer interesting to play…
