Understandable…most not even be a “good” restaurant…
That was a joke, you chaps have no sense of humour and seem to want to paint me as something I am not.
You can’t be bottling this up, Drav. Get it out! People have emotions!
It’s ok to be you.
An observation on EVE forum behavior:
People who assume a poster is misrepresenting something when Lex parsimoniae suggests otherwise are very likely to be in denial or lying.
Here, rather than deliberate mendacity, it’s usually people lost in the fog of delusion and denial that characterizes so many experienced players. But there’s also an exceptionally high proportion of people who probably can’t distinguish between truth and untruth in anything they say/write.
Trying the typical attack the person approach. I am perfectly happy being me and with Eve, I am subbing two accounts and while I have taken breaks I have not biomassed or even thought about doing so. And I could operate in the previous system of war decs, I can operate in the current and I have no issues in terms of operating in the new system.
I find meaningful content that at least makes me log in and do stuff as Eve is long term. Over to you who seems to have more issues with the game then I do.
I applaud your you-ness. Go Dravclad!!! Good job!!
Because you have never made any mistakes? Because the mistakes you did make were not meaningful? Because your characters and the actions you take in game, the objects you have in game, and your “playstyle” are not meaningful? Because you cannot change the game nor yourself? Or because you accept the flawed nature of your character and the game?
Maybe to you the game is perfect just the way it is. What is your secret?
I don’t know why you would suggest that I have not made any mistakes or not made any meaningful mistakes.
I take the word meaningful in terms of this game to be something that is worth doing and has value and is therefore worth the effort. What I do is little objectives that are difficult and I try to work out a way to do it, my moving 3.5m m3 out of Faspera after asset safetying it was satisfying and fun.
My current objective which I am building up to literally in terms of the assets and the characters is to move stuff out of deep NPC nullsec using carriers without any blue status to the sov holding alliances I will be passing through.
The secret is simply to test yourself, try to do the difficult, but not the impossible. That is it.
To many people get stuck in a rut and don’t develop their own content, more fool them.
You’ve never consider re-roling. Re-roling is one of the typical recourses in MMOs when a major mistake is made. Even in EVE. This is why I think you’ve never made a mistake. You are perfectly happy with the game and perfectly happy with your character in it. This is . . . abnormal.
Clearly some of us are ‘abnormal’. I’ve made mistakes in game, a few rather silly ones, but see it as part of character development.
Can’t re-roll in RL, why do it in game?
You can, but it requires you to abandon certain things, even more so than in a game. Afterall, any change could be seen as a “re-role”. If I go blonde, that is changing my character. If I grow my fingernails long and paint them, that will cause people to look at me differently than they do now. And, isn’t that ultimately what re-roling is about, changing how we interact with the world and/or how it interacts with us?
Making minute changes to how we interact or are interacted with is easy and does not require a complete rebuild of our identity. But since it is so easy to do in an MMORPG, the threshold of what is meaningful enough to induce us to completely change characters is smaller, lower, easier. In EVE, it might be so easy that some of us do it all the time, even as a form of gameplay in and of itself. However, on the other hand, it might be that because it is so easy to change characters in EVE or because EVE is somehow restrictive of what we can be, we must completely change games in order to “re-role” effectively. I suspect that is what actually drive most people away from the game after they have tried it.
Already done that, was 2004 to 2007 as another character which I gave to a friend, came back in 2009 as Dracvlad. So done and dusted and no that was not a mistake.
