While I really like these posts, I never played SL and I enjoy learning, I really think complex solutions are a trap.
The solution is always a series of simpler actions in a chain. Meaning the AVATAR jump was too much to be done without previous steps and experience, the implementation was ■■■■.
Talking about EVE, it is just breaking the predictability of ship fits and behavior, nothing to fancy, just adding more flexibility would do. That would have opened other doors to less complains and changing orders.
EVE is about enforcing your will on others. Never forget that, that’s why some people are happy and others are sad bitter. Ships are just the way you do it. You can do it with money, time, cleverness, manipulation, you name it.
Second Live seems to be about having your vision and desires, with money.
EVE is kinda a step forward, because having it your way means violence (ingame) is allowed. You can’t (or shouldn’t) be allowed to have a local space to do it in peace. That’s a problem to be solved by FC.
I guess that sums up most of the threads complaining about something, some people understand EVE others do not. FC does not interfere, they just grab the money.
I could have used another example like WoW, everybody can raid Naxxaramas, there’s no fight for control, only a pseudo fight to see who’s best (first).
While EVE is not the first with that model, it seems to be the one that prevailed.
