CCP Games has just announced that Hilmar, the boss, aka the man who has successfully managed to con/vince people into giving him money over 23 years by jumping on whatever the latest tech trend was (mostly after it was almost over), has just announced that CCP Games is now Fenris Productions . Enquiring minds would like to know if Google is as gullible as Pearl Abyss was, since apparently Google AI Deepmind is a minority owner? Also what happens to all the devs’ CCP nicknames?

It seems so. I guess CCP found some funding. But there could be positives too, some games already use AI to identify bots and similar.
And I’m not sure if CCP itself is changing the name to Fenris Creations.

Rebranding CCP Games to Fenris Productions has the benefit that it no longer shares initials with the CCP.

It’s just a research partnership. I don’t mind my posts being read by AI, the logical conclusion will be I’m one of the few sane people around. What are they going to research? I don’t know, very intriguing…

I mean, based on my previous post. If AI flies in fleets of 3-5 cruisers killing bots and providing content, I’m not gonna complain much.
As soon as they are not impossible to fight like Trigs, it may be cool.

Ok, now I read the entire article and understood what is what, let me say Fenris did a good deal right there.
EVE is very AI friendly and I always believed in game models, I myself tried two, one using CoC and other my own rule engine. Ofc I’m just a single person, they are not even close to EVE, but the idea is good. I always believed that this kind of simulations could be used in closed deterministic models to reach new conclusions and test ideas.
If you guys take the time to read, you’ll see Deepmind is going to run an offline server to test their stuff. We kinda jumped the gun too soon.

So this AI crap is why EVE is getting worse and worse, both from a feature pov and a performance pov. Good to know.
Good to know that my behavior will now directly contribute to pollute, subvert, spoil, ruin and damage Google’s AI research. That’s something I will be very proud of.

It’s Fenris Creations. Hilmar signed the news announcement FC Hellmar instead of CCP Hellmar, so I presume all other CCP handles will be rebranding to FC as well.
As for what the future holds, I don’t think we’ll have a good idea for at least 6-8 months. I’m sure we’ll hear a lot of stuff at Fanfest, but we hear a lot of stuff at Fanfest every year. Not all (or much) of it comes to fruition.
At this point, it’s far too early to be freaking out. Best to just wait and see.

LOL, i hear there are many football clubs working for eve online. Sorry i cant get over this for a while, whenever ive heard of a FC Anything in the past it has always been just that. I guess its been the same thing with “CCP” at its time as it also points to a certain “communist party”.
I had a feeling that was bound to be the case. Way too many people I know thought CCP Games was a Chinese-owned company.
My impression about the partnership is maybe in the future we will see something new from Project Discovery. I mean, citizen science a form of data collection by nature and we have benefited from it as both players and helping real-world researchers do their work. I could be wrong but I look forward to seeing how this goes. I wish FC the best.
