In the Exordium Dev Blog, CCP mentions that a “starter zone” has been an idea floating around for years.
I’ll be the first to admit: I wasn’t the only person in New Eden to ever think of a starter space. But as an independent candidate for CSM 20 (Teddy Shi / Gameable17), I believe I had the most similar thoughts to what CCP actually built in reality.
Six months ago, I was here on Reddit defending this exact vision against the “instanced gameplay is bad” crowd. Looking at the Dev Blog today, it’s like reading the technical manual for the ideas I put forward.
The Comparison:
The Vision: I called for an “instance made up for new players… free from interaction with scammers and thieves.”
The Reality: CCP built Exordium with a 1.0 Security Tier that systemically disables PvP.
The Economic Safeguard: I explicitly suggested that “anything they make or collect in that instance they can’t take with them… so it doesn’t pollute the economy.”
The Reality: CCP implemented “Tier 0” resources and curated loot tables to solve that exact market-pollution problem.
The Goal: I argued that the “fear of loss” was the #1 barrier to retention.
The Reality: CCP’s entire “Safe Space to Learn” philosophy is built on removing that “cloud of anxiety.”
I ran for CSM because I wanted to see the game’s backbone—industry and the new player experience—strengthened. While I didn’t win the seat, seeing this vision become a core part of EVE’s future is a massive win for everyone who wants a healthier, more populated New Eden.
I’m glad CCP is moving in this direction. Now, as we head toward the Summer expansion, I’ll be watching to ensure the execution matches the vision—specifically how they handle progression and the Manifest hub logistics.
If you want a candidate who is already thinking six months ahead of the dev cycle, I hope to earn your vote next time around.

Have you in fact looked at the attributes of the -0 grade ore?
The market-pollution problem is in no way solved. The -0 grade ores are just half as bad as standard ores and of course they do refine to the same base minerals where no difference exists anymore to the rest of the universe.
So tritanium and pyerite mined in total safety will compete with the minerals of the total market, devaluating them.
That’s a fair technical critique. If the ‘Tier 0’ minerals are allowed to flow freely into the main market without a bottleneck, you’re right—it risks devaluing the effort of miners in the rest of the universe.
However, the ‘Blueprint’ isn’t just about the ore name; it’s about the containment. I’ll be looking to see if CCP implemented ‘Export Taxes’ or ‘Volume Caps’ on the gates leaving Exordium. If they haven’t, then that’s exactly the kind of ‘Logistical Oversight’ I’d be pushing to fix on the CSM.
The goal is a ‘Safe Space to Learn,’ not a ‘Safe Space to Crash the Market.’ I’m glad you’re looking at the attributes—that’s the kind of depth we need to ensure this expansion actually works. o7
Man, I do nothing and the satisfaction comes for free.
Reddit, CSM and Exordium, all red flags in one post.
Thanks for making it public this forums are useless, and Reddit is the place CCP devs listen to their null sec pals. Not that I did not know, but it may bring some sanity to this place, people still post like madman thinking CCP will listen to them.
While I had nothing against you, if something is there to be done, somebody gonna do it. I don’t think your idea will bring the expected result.
For starters, Mr. CSM, being ganked in EVE is about frustration, not chance, the frustration comes from the incapacity to fight back.
Had you proposed a newbie zone where they can PvP themselves fairly, it would you made a great favor to EVE.
I don’t hold any grudge against you, the CSM or NSers, CCP created the CSM it’s their own fault for listening to null secs and destroying the game, people are in their own right to only suggest what affects them directly.
I’m very glad this is public, it will age brilliantly. I’m always happy my PvE is garbage because all my ships needs to be tuned for NS doctrines, and now this… Brilliant future ahead.
I have always argued that the existence of any ‘no PVP’ areas in EVE would be a disaster. It’s a complete change to the ’ you are not safe anywhere ’ culture that has defined EVE for over 20 years. I don’t relish being a prophet.
