Are you referring to that rise in players at the end of 2016 / beginning of 2017 ? There were alpha clone changes so people could log in to get on their alpha characters. And then there was more apha changes at the end of 2017 so people could get into battleships and get more skills.
You are right I forgot about that, I made alpha toons too.
And my friend too. so yes, many people doubled their player count.
That indeed were no new players. I stand corrected
There are always some people willing to try new game for free. I dont think you both made those numbers making alpha alts. It shows concurrent number of players. Alphas could not be run together with omegas or alphas with alphas (as alts, on the same computer). Of course legally.
I don’t know, could be
But yes, the steep line going down explains 20k players tried EVE Online and a few months later 19k of them gave up. As many are alts I wonder how many really remained.
I love this post hoc ergo propter hoc style of reasoning.
The game has changed. Goons are doing well, therefore the changes were done at the behest of Goons.
Minerals and moon goo do not result in ISK printing. Minerals and moon goo are what are known as “real goods”.
What specifically has changed to help Goons rat? War decs? Hardly. Changes to wrecks? No. Got anything else?
Have you normalized to regional populations? Virtually the entirety of Goons live in Delve. That is alot of accounts/players. This is one of the first things that should be done with aggregate statistics.
A country with say $10 trillion in GDP call this country A, and a country with $5 trillion in GDP call it country B. Which country is “richer”? You might be tempted to say A. But what if the population is 10x that of B? Now on a per capita basis B is quite a bit “richer”.
I know you’ll just brush this aside…which will high light your intellectual dishonesty.
And are you telling us game mechanics are different in Delve than in the rest of NS? That part, “…but they are far far away from insane wealth you get there; all of that, i repeat, facilitated by sole game mechanics.” Sure sounds like you are saying mechanics are different in Delve and in the favor of Goons.
Here is the problem. If Goons are making so much ISK because of better organization and logistics then if you nerf ratting income the relative disparity you note will still exist.
If indeed, I dont know if CCP should thank you (for player count) or ban you (for running all those alphas simultanously).
If I made 10k accounst and my friend too, they should ban both of us. Unless we bought 1 ticket to EVE Vegase and redeemed on all 10k accounts, that would have been hilarious. Then obviously resold the ticked at the same price to get our money back as most did.
Not wanting to derail the treath (my fault, not Nana’s) I think Goons adapted the best to changing situations (and loss of territory). Thanks to awesome leadership. And last be not least, the entire goonswarm line members who fight every day for perfection and victory!
Good post. For 100+ last posts of this thread i have tried to find what exactly is “broken” in Delve and what do these people propose but haven’t found anything material. Let’s hope now we will get an answer.
I think there are at least two possible explanations here:
Hypothesis 1. Goons have gotten some sort of edge via CCP.
Hypothesis 2. Goons have adapted to changes and losing their space extremely well and implemented policies to help build up the coalition.
There could be others.
I have read the last 50 or so posts and have yet to see something that would support 1 in regards to Delve and the success of Goons have had in that region. I do know Goons have been strongly urging members to rat, mine, and generally amass wealth so as to fund super caps and caps. Their use of ratting carriers, super caps, and having faxes sitting on keepstars ready to jump in if someone gets into trouble has undoubtedly made ratting easier.
So hypothesis 2 looks more reasonable. But please, put forward other arguments for 1…and simply posting a graph from the MER is not very persuasive as it fits both hypotheses and thus carries pretty much zero weight in terms of evidence for either hypothesis.
Yes goons tried and try to keep themselves safe through teamwork on a grand scale why punish teamwork?
And like I said before they are compacted into 1 region other groups have their ratting and mining spread over many regions such as the dronelands areas under BOT sov that span quite a few regions but help NCDOT for example aswel as some areas up north suporting same alliance
Can the OP name 3 cartels?
Phew. Actually it were the Portoguese as the first Europeans who came into contact with Congo, while Belgium was a piece of land owned by whoever came to take it. The original Congo originally had trade agreements with Portugal, but when the former denied any further exports of slaves, the Portuguese waged war on the country and introduced puppet regimes. Through the extensive export of slaves Congo lost huge parts of its population. The formerly great developed country collapsed.
Then came the British, but they weren’t really interested in taking Congo. Getting what other, more powerful nations, didn’t want, Leopold “took” Congo by paying an Englishman to buy off land from the locals. That guy, made them build streets. As in: they build the streets under the supervision of an Englishman. Also, not Belgium owned Congo, but Leopold privately. It’s hard to say if it was typical delusion of grandeur which led him to pay huge amounts to colonize the entire country. At first it didn’t look bad, but when he basically expropriated everyone, making it illegal for the people to farm or hunt, lots of people died of hunger. Smart guy, this Leopold - lol. And yes, Leopold “build” (well actually he used local forced labor) traintracks and such. For what? Exactly, to get value out of the country, towards the coast and on ships towards Europe to make money out of it. Joseph Conrad wrote Heart of Darkness about how the traintracks were build, if you care to read from someone who was there.
Next, Leopold formed a warlord-army and forced to local population to harvest rubber in extreme amounts, while forbidding them to follow their subsistence farming. He made a great amount of money, while the countries population died. Under his bloody rulership, the Congo lost half its population. Other European countries forced him to stop that, because it was considered over the top cruel. Belgium continued to brutally exploit Congo until 1960, when Lumumba became president. The entirety of Congoloseans held full hate for the Belgian monsters who invaded and exploited their country for so long. The very moment Belgium didn’t suppress free elections anymore, Lumumba was elected and immediately declared independence.
This ended when Belgian minister decided to order the excecution of Kongos president, his body was butchered into pieces and dissolved in acid. (read Ludo de Witte) That was 1961. Civil war followed and after that Belgian puppet Mobutu aka the cleptocrate with the wierd hats ruled the country and entirely sold it out. Not anymore to Belgium though. Belgium was in the last days only the useful idiot for the US. Fast foward, of course this cleptocracy broke down after 20ish years or so and now the country was fooked.
You saying that “you” brought anything to Congo. The truth is that Belgium and Leopold took from the country 1000 times more than they gave back. They took their life, they took their natural ressources. Those 3,4 lousy train tracks as compensation? Lol.
But you know what? It wasn’t really “Belgium”, just the king and the rich. Back in the day, normal people where against the slave trade and all of that horsecrap. The next thing that will happen now, is that will read this and feel offended how I dare talk the truth about your country. Well, it gets even better. The future holds no place for your line of thinking. Out of pure economic necessity Africa will become what Asia used to be - for the world market. This will make countries there more independent and we’ll see how far our European countries will make it with their shitty attitude towards the continent. China is smart, they’re not the ones who mass murdered people over there. They build up business relations everywhere they can and they will succeed. The continuous shitty attitude towards Africa will cost Europe dearly, not so far in the future.

Thank you, about bloody time someone pointed that out.
EU as an org makes huge donations/aid to nations in Africa, as well as further donations/aid by EU member states individually. This is especially true when considering GNI/GDP of these donors.
These are not mutually exclusive.
Imo, both are true.
Dont make distinction between Delve and the rest.
There are several issues that were not predicted by CCP and are not only aplicable to Delve. Delve and goons are just “litmus paper” for null.
NEAR2, bots, anomalies ratting, Rorquals mining, capitals proliferation, risk/reward mechanism lacking appropriate autobalancing. People just dont work when it comes to autobalancing, there is a need for underlying game machanism changes to anomalies spawning and ore belts spawning. It should be all tied to amount of stuff destroyed in Null.
At least as ratting is concerned, at the last fanfest they at least said they know its broken and has been for a long while. I don’t understand why they don’t do something about it though, at the very minimum they could just tweak some numbers, that doesn’t involve any re-development or anything like that, its quick stuff.
Great…so now you have set up a situation that cannot be refuted…which is totally useless.
Risk/reward is entirely up to the players. The idea that risk is something CCP determines is incorrect. Risk is determined by the players and the choices they make.
Its my opinion.
What you do with it is up to you.
You havent dis/proven either of your hypothesis.
I simply observed they arent mutually exclusive, which they arent.

Risk/reward is entirely up to the players.
Wrong. Game is developed by devs. Its up to CCP to make rewards and give incentives for fight.
If you leave players with stuff without any changes and adaptations to their gameplay, cows are running the farm.
