CCP Service and Support

I find it amusing that players don’t think a company can be taken to task for failing to provide a service that the customer pays for.

Of course they can, especially when that company knows that a certain part of the code doesn’t work but they leave it in to the detriment of every customer that comes across it.

Just because it happens to be a game developer it doesn’t abstain them from any blame.

If a legal letter ended up on their desk you can bet that someone would be sorting it out that same day because they do have a responsibility to their customers who they charge to use their corrupted product.

Hey guess what

You have no interest in the value of your time spent playing the Game, for example, by the building up of the experience level of your character and the items your character accumulates during your time playing the Game. Your Account, and all attributes of your Account, including all corporations, actions, groups, titles and characters, and all objects, currency and items acquired, developed or delivered by or to characters as a result of play through your Accounts, are the sole and exclusive property of CCP, including any and all copyrights and intellectual property rights in or to any and all of the same, all of which are hereby expressly reserved.

What actually will happen is that the customer gets compensated to settle the legal processes…likely a refund of some kind. After that happened, the account for said customer will most likely be closed and deleted and the customer will be withheld from ever again enter into a contract situation with the company again.

So i would fully think this through if i wanted to play the game in the future with my existing accounts or at all…no one is forced to take money from you and sell you something. They don’t even need a reason for this. Also nothing on the servers belongs to you as you have agreed to by the terms and conditions.

This. It’s probably cheaper to just pay you off with a pittance and/or just ban your ass for “no reason given” than it is to fix COSMOS missions anyway.

Are they really hurting that bad? I am guessing finding people that speak the language is severely limiting for hiring people but is no one left over there that has the skill/knowledge/training to maintain the game?

I agree.

However, when a company sells it’s goods in another country it’s that country’s laws it has to abide by, not their own.

Customer’s Country’s Laws

  • Consumer Protection: Customers have rights under their own country’s consumer protection laws, which often override what is in your terms and conditions.”

It’s all on google, if you ask the correct question.

If I developed something digital here in the UK and sold it in Brazil, I’d have to make sure I followed Brazilian consumer laws, not the UK’s.

What is not on google is practical knowledge of the settlements and what will happen after. I replied that to you above already and you might have missed it. In short: what kind of compensation helps you if after you received it, your accounts are closed forever? No one is going to fix code for you. It is just a dream. You will be compensated and blocked from access. This is how it works.
Be careful to exercise your dream also with Microsoft and/or Google where your access actually is no game you want to play.

by extended time you mean until the heat death of the universe ?

If I ever get to the point where I don’t care what CCP thinks or what they might do it doesn’t matter.

They still have a duty under many countries consumer acts no matter what.

They have been challenged in the past over a ban.
