CCP to Pearl Abyss to Fenris

Hello Fenris, (Cool name by the way)

Been a player since around 2010. This has been the best MMO I’ve ever played through the years with CCP. When Pearl Abyss obtained Eve Online, that is when I started noticing massive changes for the worse. In my humble opinion, Pearl Abyss changed the game so much that my friends and I, since 2010, began to fall off the wagon and stop playing. It was very disappointing.

That being said, I hope you, Fenris, are up to the challenge of fixing Pearl Abyss’ mistakes, and bring me and all my friends back into Eve. From my understanding, Fenris = former CCP. Meaning the old gang is back! HAHA! If I’m wrong about that I apologize. I just want the game to feel more like the Eve of old, and not the slop Pearl Abyss turned it into.

If I had to choose one thing that has destroyed Eve the most, it would be the purchase and sale of skill points. There are many others but this one is bad. We used to declare war on people and do our homework for a week on their corporation. Just to see how long someone has played could let you know what ships they probably fly well, and about how they would fit them. This doesn’t include a spy placed in the corp. Now, we have no idea of who anyone is and what they fly or anything about them. It was a mechanic that, if you did the work, made Eve great. And yes, I know it makes some money for the company, but it deteriorates the game.

I do have many more complaints about the current Eve, but I feel you may understand my point by now.

Again, I hope yall can get me and my friends to come back for good, and God speed on that. Also, thank you to any former CCP members that currently work for Fenris. This game back in the day was the best, and the friends I made are still my friends. They even came to my wedding from all across the country (USA). So thank you for that too.

Thank you for reading my rant,

RangerJoe KilJoe

Nice post. I hope your friends return as well. I just got back a few months ago now I think. Guess what? I have to say for the first time since 2017, I like the direction of the game and have hopes for FCcp as well. Im confident they care about the quality of the game.

My #1 Issue + ALL friends who quit. = War HQs and building reqs for highsec. (null owns them all  )

LSI is still a major factor in many issues that still currently plague the game like cancer. I think the only real way for it to be fixed is a very very slow walking back of all the fake accounts IF we can grow the actual population. We cant just shrink it, ya know. People are heavily invested also. Good news is I think FC does care about the negative effects.

Oh btw… :100: Vote for Mike. :rose:

The leadership that was CCP is still here, and maybe since they were in PA some players became devs, but nothing really changed except getting out from under PA

Dude it’s 2026, without SP acceleration nobody would invest in EVE.

Stop being so hardheaded.

The merit of investing sooner on the game was already collected, you cannot just sit on it forever, it’s a business, it needs to recycle.

For real, stop this my EVE mentality, it’s old af. Everyday is a challenge, adapt.

Security is an illusion created to calm the weak.

i’ll still call them ccp regardless of what banner they work under, unless they actually change devs, they’re always going to be ccp, you can change the name, but you can’t change the history

The illusion that no one is going to pay for the game without LSI… New player delusion. People buy artistic quality products first and foremost. The game was more populated and way better without LSI. I’ve been affiliated with it since day 1.
Leadership. Economic. Political. Name it I was there day one. LSI is bad for the game but good for company metrics. It’s a short-sighted executive solution to bad player counts which mattered at the time mostly for the sale value of the company before it went to Pearl abyss.

We call them CCP on purpose broski. Consider it hope. Not even FC has changed the internal working of the company over from CCP yet on official documents. I’m pretty sure they are happy that the doors are still open. If I had to guess we’re lucky the game even exists after all the changes to the original gameplay style and atmosphere. And you know what the really sad part is… All of these changes they made were mostly justified thinking about this idiot new player assumed mentality of instant gratification. They think new players are stupid, non-competitive children on Ridilan and so that’s what they made Eve.
If they want to be called FC they have to stop acting like CCP.

They forgot about the veterans and the player base and started to concentrate only on new players and cashing out. They started making everything purple, started making the game for people that never played and wouldn’t stick around and talking about cat ears to a bunch of grown hardcore sci fi men.

You got to make up your mind what you want. Do you want McDonald’s in walmart? Or maybe you want to experience something a little finer in life?
Art and McDonald’s… One of these things is not like the other. Risk=reward. On a company level that means an executive has to trust the artistic vision of a developer. But instead he chooses safer metrics and ignores the mind of the men who create art in the first place.

This is contradictory. Did you fall off the wagon and start playing the game again after a period of managing staying away? Or did you start doing drugs/drinking so heavily you had no time for EVE? Or do you not know what falling off the wagon means?

It never left. Hilmar has been at the head of this game all this time. Some devs have changed, but that is inevitable in my opinion. People come and go.

On a more constructive note, I don’t think SP sale is as bad as it was imagined to be when it first came out, and it’s not as bad as some players still think it is. It adds revenue for Fenris and helps keep the game in the positive. And the players who choose to put their money into it to get into some hulls/activities sooner – it’s not really a problem.

People forget that SP trading has actually always existed in the game in the form of character sales. People specialized into it to train up market, industry, mining, etc characters for those who didn’t want to wait till their own characters were trained up. It has always been part of EVE. Skill injectors just made it more flexible/convenient.

As a consequence it did redirect those profits from players to Fenris mostly, so there is that. Those who made their income in the game from character sales, I understand why they hated the introduction of injectors so much. Personally I don’t need and have never used skill injectors, but I don’t have a problem with others doing so. I don’t see that it has negatively impacted the game at all. To the contrary, I think it’s positive that more players have more activities/ships in the game available for them.

He glanced over the two elephants in the room.

  1. Massive multi-boxing on free Omega accounts which dominate every sector in this game by margins so far beyond the average player you would not even believe it.
  1. It has become the single most influential effect on the entire economy by way of the new Eden store and the correlation between Plex buyers on the website.

This video contains numbers and lists with names. It also contains our CSM speaking.

Great video!! Thanx for that I really enjoyed it. I could use it to help explain Eve to my girlfriend. :smiling_face_with_horns:

Basically, Pearl Abyss ( PA ) had little to nothing to do with changes made by the developer. CCP ( aka Fenris ) borrowed revenues ( a business loan basically ) against their game company. Recently PA cut ties after getting back less than what was borrowed. PA cut off their leg to get out of this beartrap and is doing very well with Black Desert and now their new release of Crimson Desert.

Right after the loan was paid, CCP rebranded themselves as Fenris, then crawled into bed with Google Deepmind AI. Personally I don’t care what they call themself, Fenris is the same developer. Current state is they are planning to make the HUD ( heads up display ) look something like this;

Comments are here in the official thread.

I would not get my hopes up about them “fixing stuff” or returning to the old ways.

Feel free to cast the blame on PA, the boogieman under the bed, or Google Deepmind. Fenris is in control and has been since you left. I stick around and play this game with my friends, I don’t cut and run, and then blame the boogieman for leaving any game. Hope you stick around this time.

Have fun!

(Fk Google. Im sick of them being in every aspect of my life and now my personal time. they just went too far in that aspect so here comes the backlash. Anyway… the UI.

Im sure FC can handle this job better than me and ill trust it to be cool in the end.

If memory serves me right OP the monetization of the game predates CCP’s purchase by PA. Those moves (SP selling, the New Eden Store and the leaked “Greed is Good” monetization memo that lead to the Summer of Rage protests) ALL occurred well before PA got involved. Back then CCP was partially owned by a group of equity firms that were looking for a return on their money. If you want to blame someone the fault lies squarely at the feet of CCP, not PA.

I am confused. The header says first time poster, the account birthday is Aug, 8th 2011, then the OP states;

Yet, I clearly see character active with kills and losses between 2018 to 2024. Some gaps like 2017 with little or no activity. Sure don’t look like they “dropped” since 2010 with this character. I also fact checked with the wikipedia;

Acquistion by Pearl Abyss announced on 6 September 2018 that they had agreed to acquire CCP Games for about US$425 million of which US$200 million depended on performance based targets. On 1 May 2026, Pearl Abyss announced that CCP Games had been sold back to its management for US$120 million, marking its return to being an independent company.

During those dates the character RangerJoe KilJoe was very much active. It would appear this character just never posted to the forum until now.

Good post right there. I noticed those inconsistencies also but just choose to ignore them and continue on with my own agenda.

So they had to change their name because it was idiotic to sound like an old country…

And then what they do is decide to take the acronym of one of the most important positions in the game. The FC.

FC only has a limited time to prove to me they can do anything better than the past. The same can be said of every player playing right now. I’m confident that in 2 months I will drop this game because FC will have made zero effort to fix any issues that I have. But for the next two months I will keep hope. That’s all that’s left in the bottom of this box.

This is how it’s been for me since 2017. I come back… Nothing is fixed. I leave. The good thing is that other games are out there which are excited to have long term gamers as players.

Eve has issues at the top end and the bottom end. On the top end they don’t want any more competition and so I am not welcome. On the bottom end they just want to farm and be left alone. I’m not here to press F1 or play Farmville either. Both ends of the spectrum have become cancer and so the body dies.

FC, you just need to hear the words of the true player base. Pay attention…be smart.

You can still do this.

Come on! All of this intel is still possible to be uncovered with a little research. And I don’t mean just the killboards, nor do I mean months-long corporate spying.

You’re so full of nonsense. It did not make the game great. All it did was make some things in the game very predictable. That’s not a quality that makes for a better or greater game. Predictabiliy makes for a more boring game.

According to CSM they only have bad ideas, I’m not sure the re-brand came with a culture change.

While I agree with some of your points, I don’t think they have the agility to do so, even if they wanted. That’s why I’m keeping my 500 PLEX to 2027.

Bro I tried to respond to you but all of my posts have been deleted. Welcome to Eve. The information that I share is not welcome in the public eye. You probably starting to notice that’s why I rely on people reading it kind of quickly. Sometimes others are fascist and hostile and there’s not much you can do about it when they have the buttons to press.

But basically the point of the things that all got deleted…

Is that if the CSM is not happy with the proposals that FC brings forward. Then I stand with FC. Because the CSM does not represent anything but the wrong people and FC is trying to break apart those massive cancerous coalitions.

Hopefully you got to read it all before it disappears.
