I did , it sucked, which is how I knew you would like it

You can’t see the problem. You’ve perjoratively called it “your problem” instead of acknowledging that it is a problem for thousands of current and probably tens of thousands of former players. I’ve been patronized a ton by veterans - just look at half of the responses here to my posts. None of the vets that have tought me outright lied to me. Some of them presented their opinions as facts, like you are doing, saying that Eve is all about x,y, or z, because they and their friends like doing x,y, and z. But others that have been with the game since the beginning disagree. No veteran gets to decide what Eve is about for anyone other than themselves or beyond what CCP and the storyline say its about.
I’m not harassed because I lack knowledge and experience. I am successfully killed at times because I lack knowledge and experience. I am harassed because players like to harass and eve allows some forms of harassment. There is a difference, and I’m here to try to point out that difference.
No it isn’t. There are simple ways to hugely reduce you chance of being ganked…that I have numerous times stated on this forum.
Sure. You get thrown in at the deep end. Sink or swim. I was gate camped on my very first trip to lowsec, and ganked a few days later…all within a few weeks of starting the game. I am still in the game two and a half years later. There are numerous Youtube videos both on ganking and avoiding being ganked. Information is easy to find.
Whining all the time.
HTFU
yes, This is the real world - you are talking to a real human, and you choose to repeatedly troll, insult, and throw out red herrings like “FFXIV sucks so I know you’d like it” instead of trying to respectfully engage. That is anti-social behavior.
Okay. I’m gonna give you a huge reality check right now. Pay attention.
Read all of the posts on this page since I’ve started posting, talking about a very real problem faced by many players in eve currently and in the past, and then look at the responses.
Look at the 6 or so individuals responding to me. Only a couple actually provide arguments, the rest simply belittle, insult, or troll. And yet I continue to try to advocate. This is VERY difficult. You are in an echo chamber - where there are tons of people in here that agree with you because they enjoy the same things as you. I am virtually without support and yet I continue to post what I attempt to make as logical arguments. You think it’s easy to 'whine all the time?" You don’t know the first thing about whining. Whining is complaining that your capacitor runs out. Whining is complaining that Jita is too far from Dodixie.
Talking about harassment is not whining, and as soon as you call it whining, you are engaging in further harassment. You try being the minority in a majority pro-bullying pro-harassment community. See how long you last. See if you’d post more than once without your echo chamber fluffing your ego.
The irony is…I have to actually go looking for trouble as no-one seems to want to gank me in highsec. And there are not nearly as many suspects to chase in highsec as there used to be. So I flew around lowsec in ‘wanna fight ?’ mode and people either flee…or, I didn’t fancy taking on a Golem though maybe I should have. I foresee ship loss coming up…and it will be fun and good learning and not something to whine about. Might even get my first ‘solo’ kill.
That’s because you fly a fast align gnosis
No it’s not
I have it on good authority that Fatbutt is a BOT
Noo…even when I fly my totally unarmed 460m worth of Guardian through Uedama nobody seems to notice.
And…I mined in Mirilene earlier. No mining permit.
You probably called it Gnosis
Blonde privilege
Fatbutt has vanished, looks like got his butt kicked.
You seem to think you’re going to open my eyes to some earth shattering truth. But you are not telling us anything we don’t already know. Eve is tough. Eve has a very steep learning curve. Eve even sucks some of the time. These are all reasons to carry on playing and survive, rather then reasons to get all glum and despondent.
Yes it is
What do you call this then?
Yes, that’s why I said it.
Did my observation strike a nerve? Unlike your presumptive and insulting comment, mine is actually based in observation.
Edit: Everyone has an idea of what Eve “should” be. It is presumptuous for you to come into the community and declare your vision as the one we all “ought” (and that’s an “Ought” in the Moral sense) abide by.
Freedom is a two-way street: people use their freedoms for things you like and for things you don’t like. The greater the freedom, the greater the extremes. You can’t control them. That’s kind of the point of freedom. I am talking about freedom in a free and open sandbox fantasy game, of course. Trying to declare your thing as the “right” thing and remove degrees of freedom is subverting the whole ecosystem. Only an individual that is roleplaying an Authoritarian in this fantasy game would want to eliminate freedoms via pursuing an agenda to leverage CCP’s authoritative power to make up for their own in-game freely-chosen-weakness and change game mechanics in order to bend others to their will. Surely that is only roleplay.
After carefully reviewing and poring over all the evidence provided in this thread, I must conclude that CCP has not totally failed Hsec players.
Case dismissed.
You need five permits to mine our moons.
You could have stopped right there. That’s correct. And I expect them to attack me. And you did suggest changes that will dramatically change the entire game. As soon as you mention “consenting to pvp”, you have changed the game. You see, I’m not all all concerned with the people who don’t like the premise and then don’t play. That’s fine. This game isnt for everyone, it’s not designed for everyone. There are thousands of non-PvP games out there, there is only 1 game like Eve. So why chnage the 1 to be like the thousands of others? Even by your definition I’ve never griefed anyone in this game. Not once. Yet you somehow think I’m defending my playstyle, I’m not. I’m defending the idea of this game.
Sounds expensive.
I usually absolutely love playing along with these arguments, and people around here know that I can keep a pointless debate like this going for hundreds of posts. But when someone does this, it just becomes boring.
Don’t give up the game like this. It takes all the fun out of it. Try again in a little while, okay? Maybe feed a few hauler or abyssal suspect losses for variety too. Going solely for the mining angle is a bit trite these days.
But it is your problem. Because YOU are the only one who could fix the issues you currently have. No one else. And it maybe was their problem of whatever amount of players before, because they didn’t want to learn and didn’t want to listen. EVE is like a cheesecake at the bakery. Some people do like it, lots of people don’t like it. That doesn’t create a general problem with cheesecake that should be adressed. What you experience is simply PvP and not even remotely ‘harrassment’. That others successfully target you is 100% your fault because you are unwilling to learn how to counter their strategies, despite having all options to do so.
Your ‘problem’ in this topic is that you believe you can make a point in discussing here but guess what, you are #2342 in a long line of beginners that came before you, all thinking they understood the big problem of EVE Online and trying to convince everyone with their walls-of-texts that there is a ‘big problem that needs to be fixed’. And at some point you have to make a simple decision: Be like them and just quit or evolve and become successful. Thats something YOU decide, nothing CCP changes at the game.
Simple facts are:
the EVE community isn’t toxic or unwelcome at all. There are hundreds of corporations and alliances out there that genuinely support new players if these are showing a will to learn how the game works. There are thousands of people over the years spending thenthousands of hours writing guides, programming tools, hosting websites, wikis, educational videos and streams and whatnot - all for new players to learn from them. There has never in the history of EVE so much support for new players.
many Veterans, Corporations and Alliances not only give out advice, they also give out free stuff en masse to speed up the progress of newcomers. From ships over skillbooks, free ISK or even PLEX. They make you a MUCH MUCH MUCH warmer bed that we Veterans ever had it when we begun playing the game.
Ganking is simply the first form of “Piracy” in the game a new player might experience as long as he doesn’t leave HighSec. Not only that the game offers thousands of StarSystems outside of HighSec where Ganking simply isn’t existing because the players are responsible for their safety at all times, even in HighSec the few techniques to learn how to avoid being ganked can be learned WITHIN ONE DAY. All you need to do is make yourself a list of a handful of points not to forget while out there in space and thats it. Chances that you will ever be ganked shrinks to almost zero. I say ‘almost zero’ because at some point bad luck hits at the wrong moment and/or some ganker invests incredibly high amounts of effort to overcome your precautions, well just grant him the success then. Losing a ship here and there is absolutely no issue in EVE. They are tools and sometimes they break and need to be replaced.
Listen mate, I sincerely love this game because it is among the greatest concepts EVER hitting the gaming market and it can offer SO MUCH if a player is willing to embrace it and overcome the initial difficulties. But stop complaining is the first step on that journey. If you can’t do that, my honest advice is: leave it and go somewhere else, it will only get worse from here on the longer you play if you are not willing to learn and adapt to the realities.
But if you are willing to be successful here, stop the paranoia, embrace the competition and seek advice/help from Veterans how to deal with specific situations that trouble you. Not that rubbish boogeyman ganking nonsense. There are solutions for everything, you simply might not know them yet.
Do you have a running doc or something of names, because at this point I kind of regret not having a list of forum alts encountered.
