That’s not true Buggs.
Why don’t you try it.

tried out of caldari space it was ok , perhaps the white nebula + winter storm was just too much.. you’re correct
It’s because CCP are still arc welding the stars into place….

Its pretty simple to turn so your not looking into it. I mean rotating the camera works afterall
Alternatively they could actually fix the issue and also make the game look better in general.
This is more of the same I keep reading during the event. The winter event certainly displays the worst of CCP’s’ 3D blunders. However these threads – no matter how accurate – are players venting on other players. These visual issues only start with “too bright” and I agree, the visuals are not a monitor or game setting. Reducing the brightness makes the ships and planets dark too, which is not the issue. The background is created too bright and there is no slider for only the background. Some people will run CTRL+Shift+F9 toggled but then you can’t see ships and planets, only the brackets are displayed. In the end, there is no real player solution to the brightness issue.
I personally feel the Photon UI is a 2D blunder but I will stick to 3D here;
Another blunder was pointed out by @Gerard_Amatin in another thread. CCP has made 2 horizontal planes to project winter clouds in space. These planes create an artificial horizon that never exists anywhere in space.
Another player ( sorry I forget who it was ) pointed out we should not see star spikes and lens flares. These are accredited to viewing something through cameras, telescopes, and other devices. If the images our pilots view are artificially projected in through implants, these displays would be perfect, and the pilot would be in charge of any and all visual filters.
I get bothered by movies that insult my intelligence, so why wouldn’t we feel insulted by bad visuals in a game? People popping in here to remark about adjusting the brightness ought to know better. Otherwise you may need a brightness knob on you, to adjust your brilliance.
It is my hope a CSM will read this and take it before the developers.
Fly Safe o7
It must be a setting though, as for some players, stars and nebulas are not too bright. Sure there is some room for preferences, but when they range from not bright enough, to needing sunglasses, that is more than just mere human preference.
LOL try multiboxing a mining fleet in an ice patch with the winter storm going on… i had to pull out my anti glare glasses for that
Suddenly? Everyone? Wrong on both counts.
yeah I get it, the same *diots who shat up the other thread, are having a party here XD
How are they going to fix the actual issue here, the thing sitting in the chair looking at the screen?
There’s a small minority who play on TVs, don’t know how to properly adjust their monitors, or like to live in caves that complain about it.
The rest of us think the game looks great.
they, and only they can fix it, by taking these overly bright nebulas and toning them down a little bit.
Have you actually done any of the suggestions on how to adjust your screen and have you actually turned your light on?
Or do you just want someone else to fix your issue for you?
Yes, I have tried setting the screen brightness. Yes I have my room lights on. Yes I’ve tried using the slider to lower the in-game brightness. If you didn’t have the reading comprehension of a two year old you’d be able to read any of my earlier replies on the topic for why these things aren’t solutions.
They should probably boost star (not sun) brightness by 50%, to compensate for the effect of the low brightness slider. That would make the night sky look more alive. Meanwhile, station brightness should remain higher even on low brightness.
Yes, that sounds right. Darker skyboxes because the nebulae look better on low brightness, and keep the star and station lighting about the same because on medium brightness slider I think ships and stations are well-lit. If I turn down the brightness slider I can’t see ship/station models as anything but black blobs and the interiors become too dark, so really it’s just the skyboxes that need to be made a fair bit darker.
If they wanted bonus point they’d make lighting scale based on distance from the star. Within one AU you’d have very bright ships and stations, out a few dozen AU things get darker. Right now star lighting brightness is uniform apart from if you’re actually sitting right at the star.
@CCP_Swift If anybody at CCP cares, I think we reached an agreement here.
I’d write the CSM, but I don’t think they care about the game.
None of them are here… ever.
im not sure if its a question of brightness, rather contrast, my Princess. On a typical PC monitor, you can crouch down and look at the monitor from a low angle to grab some contrast in a situation like this, but it is very akward. I think a better solution is a global button to opaque the windows and activate a high contrast mouse. could even hot-key this effect when things get - bright…
OR - simply a button to turn off holiday background effects to help solve it.
I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines
And I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can
Keep track of the visions in my eyes
While she’s deceiving me, it cuts my security
She got control of me, I turn to her and say
Don’t switch the blade on the guy in shades, oh no
Don’t masquerade with the guy in shades, oh no
I can’t believe it
You got it made with the guy in shades, oh no
I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can
Forget my name while you collect your claim
And I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can
See the light that’s right before my eyes
While she’s deceiving me, she cuts my security
She got control of me, I turn to her and say
Don’t switch the blade on the guy in shades, oh no
Don’t masquerade with the guy in shades, oh no
I can’t believe it
Don’t be afraid of the guy in shades, oh no
It can’t escape you
Cause you got it made with the guy in shades, oh no
I said I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I say to ya now, I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I cry to you, I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
