Astronauts need a visor on their helmet to protect their eyes and face from the extreme hazards of space. The visor shields them from intense, unfiltered sunlight in space that can permanently damage vision, blocks harmful ultraviolet and infrared radiation, and helps regulate glare when moving between bright sunlight and deep shadow. It also provides physical protection against tiny, fast-moving micrometeoroids and space dust, while helping maintain a stable temperature around the astronaut’s head.
Yeah… Space is bright ![]()
You know there is a brightness option.
Why don’t you try it?
CCP, why do I need sunglasses to pass certain systems?
To keep track of visions in my eyes… Duh… ![]()
I’m sure your mom’s basement has lights, go turn them on.
The issue isn’t ambient lighting, nor the brightness slider, it’s the brightness of certain (Caldari, Amarr) nebulae. Raising room brightness does nothing to increase the contrast between text and background in the game, and while lowering the brightness slider will make text marginally more readable, it’ll also make ships and stations so dark you can only make them out as black blobs even when you zoom in.
The solution is for CCP to replace some of the particularly bright skyboxes with less bright versions. Like the Caldari one is just a grey nebula fading into a sheer white blob, it doesn’t even look good. Having the whole nebula be gray would let them show clouds and swirls like the other nebulae, which are much prettier.
I will agree that the brightness slider makes the station interior very dark, but I think the low brightness makes the nebulae beautiful, I don’t understand why anybody wouldn’t want to see that. Who cares about the station interior anyways? My suggestion to CCP would be to have two sliders, one for the station interior, and one for the exterior. I would also suggest they make low exterior brightness the default, so people stop complaining about it being too bright.
and this is the third post about people not knowing about the brightness option…are you guys seeing the world in black and white color ?
We’ve also had these backgrounds for years now, they’re not new.
Yet everyone has to whine about them suddenly.
Here we go again.
A number of players who can’t seem to figure out the settings on their game and/or computer is going on. Maybe you can all start a club and sing Kumbaya together instead of annoying the rest of us with your nonsense. Go read through that other thread, several members there have tried to be helpful.
I only see <0.1% of players complain about it, and it’s not unlikely it’s all the same guy on different alts.
It’s quite likely. They have the same reasons and excuses in every thread.
I’m starting to think @Andlaust is right and you’re all living in your mom’s basement where you haven’t seen the light of day for months. Do you realize outdoors during a sunny day is just the same thing? Sky is bright, shade is dark. How can you stand it?
I’ve never noticed the screen being excessively bright. I play in a well lit room and I know how curtains work.
Doesn’t matter if it’s my laptop, a TV, or my phone, my eyes hurt looking at any screen with the lights dimmed or off.
My work truck has a big screen for the rear view camera/backup camera, but I switch it to reverse-only to reduce eye strain when driving at night. You could say I have many of the same complaints about that screen in my work truck as these cave dwellers have about Eve’s backgrounds. No issues during the day or on very well lit roads, but if I get away from street lights at night, that screen hurts.
I also prefer my personal areas to be fairly dimly lit, but I understand there are times to turn the lights on. Mallwart sells little 400 lumen USB powered LED lights that I find perfect to set behind my monitors, pointed at the wall so that there’s a soft glow behind them.
it’s called “snowblind”. the winter background are so bright it’s difficult to see the HUD. it’s way over the top imo. there was an aftermarket hack that put a black background under the HUD which looked pretty good, but if these folks are complaining about the white-wash snowstorm it’s legit ;p
It’s not legit because there is a brightness slider you can use.
Except the issue isn’t that the content on the screen is brighter than what’s outside the screen, but that the nebulae are so bright you’re often essentially staring straight into a white cloud. It makes it very difficult to read the (white) text. I don’t know if maybe it’s just you guys have much lower nit screens and play at 1080p 200% scale or something, but I can assure you my text doesn’t get any more legible whether I point a spotlight directly at the monitor or wear sunglasses. Yeah I can turn down the brightness slider, but that just makes the nebulae look less godawful bright while also making the stars too dim and ships/stations just look plain black. EVE is a pretty game out in far null, where the nebulae are more reasonably sized and bright, but in highsec they’re just too damn bright.
the slider darkens the whole screen including the hud but you keep on cut and pasting princess ;p
