Change is coming

You make a good point Nana, I can’t say it is good business practice to completely ignore statistics related to who is leaving when the actual business goal is to retain players.

I for one will play Eve in any shape or form, I have no complaint over the current mechanics from my perspective. My reason for commenting here is that i want to see Eve grow and retain more players and hopefully bring back older players who left due to changes in the mechanics.

I think the “HTFU or GTFO” narrative is getting a little stale, It is possible that Eve online could have a different wardec mechanic that caters to all types of gamers.

Investment bankers don’t give two shits about computer games or how they are run it’s all about the money is it viable? and will my investment be profitable? A games company well thats a different matter. What happens now in Eve reflects against Pearl Abyss and ultimately Black Desert Online, will they tollerate the griefing that happens quite freely in a game that is loosing customers because of griefing. Thats what war-decs are used for and we all know it and so will Pearl Abyss in very short order.

Well, those survivors who fought thru many wardecs in high sec can pat themselves on a back and eat a cookie anyway. They fought bravely for 15 years.

I think they should get a medal from CCP for every wardec they went thru and undocked at least one time under wardec. :sunglasses:

Now if PA will chase CCP into the wardec change… it can be an endless debate.

CCP has to retain players its that simple, it has to change. The CSM is under NDA i bet they are quietly shitting themselves.

You do realize if war dec corps can’t freely war dec they will just spend their billions suicide ganking the same people who think this helps.

Nothing changes.

Hey idiot, you do realise nearly all of us were and still are null/low/wormhole players right?

Dont worry, this idea is already on the pipe line.

2019 : War decs nerfed followed by “Ganking is ruining the player retention” as all mercs have turned to ganking.

I know right, they all think the grass is greener.

CSM minutes state it’s not new players being affected.

The issue isn’t the stats, it’s the fact the Eve community doesnt have the ability to read. When it clearly states that new players are not the ones affected by wars and you still get hundreds of posts saying wars are targeting new players it gets kinda annoying.

I live in high-sec always have, been that way since 08. One man corps no structures and everything produced in empire owned structures. Cannot progress because of griefing war-decs, I have adapted but its been a pain in the arse having to do so. Most would just go play something else and by the look of it I would be correct in saying so. I have been ganked lost everything a few times over the years I have learned and adapted, I travel through WH,Null and Low sec space no part of the game is off limits to me. Jumping through a gate into a TIDI infested f**k fest with a couple of thousands of players on the otherside, in a cloaky Loki and surviving brings a smile to my face as it always does with the big fights.

Sometimes i’m not so lucky jumping 100k of a gate and right into a Test fleet plus Titans same with PL Circle of Two ,Goons etc etc been killed by em all over the years. But that is Eve and i expect to be killed when i leave highsec, what I would like to do is build my corp up and then get everything ready to move out into null and take some space to call my own, but without being able to bring Caps to the table i’m going to get ■■■■ stomped unless I bend over and kiss someone elses arse and pay for the privilidge. Games broken and thats why i’m taking a break. Hope that Eve improves griefers gonna grief, but what is happening at this time is quite frankly after 10 years beyond the joke. o7

Retention can be done without the removal or “drastic change” to war declaration.
Although CONCORD needs to take a page out of the Imperial Guards in Oblivion and improve how they respond to multiple crimes in the same system.

I have many billions in assets, and i’m sure at some point i shall be back. Eve after all is a passion but at this time i’m taking an extended break and will pop in from time to time to see where the water lies so to speak. I hope Pearl Abyss shakes the game up, at first I was dead set against Pearl Abyss buying Eve. After some extended research i have changed my mind, change is coming in one form or another 12-18 month break may be the time needed to impliment that change. We will see quietly optimistic hope the servers don’t go dark lol.

I doubt merc corps will be interested in ganking. They enjoy flying their blingy ships with all their fancy implants. Most high sec mercs would be embarrassed sitting in a catalyst or talos for very long and probably most would rather move into wh or maybe NPC null sec.

High sec wars are very much needed, but they should also serve a purpose other than griefing. My biggest issue with the war dec system is the large number of wars (100+) that some alliances have going at the moment. Perhaps wars should only be declared by corps, not alliances?

I do believe a hard cap is needed for the number of war dec at once, making any war dec corp think about using a “slot” before declaring war.

I hope CCP and CSM say NO! to the removal of high sec wars, that would be a disaster in so many ways.

It’s been in their plans for at least 2 years now, probably even since the watchlist removal for some

If/When CCP crap all over our mechanics we would happily move to the other most annoying game mechanic.

CCP fault and ours, I love hunting and even now trying to kick start Merc hunting again but it’s like hitting your head against a wall. There is no way to check if anyone is online, locators show people in space when there in a citadel and give no indication if they’re online or not so your hunting ghosts.

Removal of some of these mechanics resulted in many (included myself) quit hunting due to the required time input and become a hub/pipe camper, increasing wars resulted in increased targets to destroy UNTIL recently.

The war dec community over farmed the content, less and less targets nowadays and people becoming more wise to avoidance through cloaks, corp dropping resulting in even more wars being put in.

To an extent I agree but at the same time if limits are imposed and we have to carefully pick our targets then I don’t want to see them all drop from corporation instantly with no repercussions.

This isn’t going to be a popular opinion but I believe adding more ways to allow war decker to hunt rather then camp hubs & pipes would drastically reduce the number of wars they need for content.

Unpopular or not, that just like bounty hunting, is overdue for improvements. But then again, PvP for many is supposed to be 1v1 encounters you’re supposed to win so not sure how well such changes would be received.

I completely agree and I think everyone with some interest to actually fixing the mechanic will come to a similar conclusion. The problem with most people in this thread is that they just want to get rid of them so they don’t have to defend their stuff, which will probably not happen anyway.

However I fear that CCP will just go with a cheap band aid and just tie the wardecs to structures. But they can’t get rid of them, not without basically locking POCOs to their current owners and risk citadel spam.

Yup, then say we will fix it later like HACs, T3s, [insert anything else broken here].

You mean like the guy in the other thread who quit because he had 6 citadels, smacktalked CODE. and couldn’t defend them by himself?

I actually worry about people who quit a game because they couldn’t be hand held. Eve can teach some very good life lessons.

P.s when I say hand held, I mean idiots who place 6 structures and expect complete immunity, not 2 week old characters who need guidance.

Exactly. I posted a wardec solution earlier, one of the parts of it was to reinstate buddy online or allow locators to state upfront if the target is online or not. “precision” wardeccing means we don’t have to rape cage Jita.

We have a word for this, denial. CCP Larrikin’s statement is pretty clear.

So who are we recruiting if not new players?

Dont get me wrong, you will still get these players because it’s been the status quo for so long.

I think it would be unfair for me to say players have become lazy, it became more the fact as soon as you left Jita and went 10 jumps you would hear people shouting they caught a JF/Golem etc… then do 40 jumps find nothing and think why the hell did i bother leaving Jita.

Then read the following statement further down where the statistics show new players aren’t being effected.

Glad your able to quote from minutes but unable to read them.

Experienced players who need some change?
