Change is coming

Or maybe exotic dancers?

Its all about retention I think, not really about if they are new or old. It was about what is effect of wardec and where, not who leaves. Wardecs dont have much use outside high sec, so it was about high sec players.

Here’s the solution I proposed.

  • limit max number of wardecs per corp/alliance. 2 for a corp, 5 for an alliance (actual numbers open to discussion)

  • remove the ally system, it’s an npc replacement for the whole mercenary RP hiring thingy (because CCP hates player interaction). Apart from being blasphemy in a player run sandbox removal is also necessary to contain the max wardec limit

  • if you leave a group that is at war you can’t join a new corp until the wardec ends or 7 days have passed. This works both ways, partially to prevent corp hopping but more importantly to contain the max wardec limit thingy, again. (A case could be made for this to only affect the initiator of the war, but I feel carebears are let off too easy as it is right now).

  • reinstate the buddy online indicator, it’s not like anyone cares if titan pilot #4839 logs on or not. That or give locator agents an indicator (before they actually start searching) stating “target is offline, do you want to continue the search yes/no” and if the answer is no the search doesn’t actually start and a new search can be done right away.

Most of this is about containing blob wardeccing and limiting large groups in having multiple wars and hopping from one entity to another to increase their number of wardecs. This takes care of the likes of PIRAT and Marmite.

The online/locator thing allows smaller wardec entities to have precision wars again, where it’s more personal and possibly more interesting for both sides.

High sec was always like a square wheel. Safe but dangerous.

As square wheels dont really turn well, I think they will want to make them…

All those concrete walls beeing erected just because they don’t want a jota to be changed of how THEY see the game…

Would be funny to see if they were not that true in their impossibility to move just a slight bit in the right direction…

Everyone and his dog wanna be hunter in Eve … but who want to be prey, newbees, carebeers who ???
You have expelled all Eve players and now you are sorry you have no one to hunt, and when somebody new show up ingame, suddenly is persecutes by a hundred hunters …

Don’t try it…they will not think logically about their behaviour, they simply can’t because that would lead them to the conclusion that their way to see the game is flawed…

What shall not be that should not have to be,

By octgonal I mean they will want to smooth the angles, but there will be more of them, like reducing severity, adding apportunity. :ok_hand:

See the big issue I have with this is why should it take care of PIRAT & Marmite?
They pay for the game same as everyone else and had to build the corporations then alliances and reputation the same as the people complaining want to grow.

This is the same as saying we should limit goons because I want to grow in null sec.

Wars issues are surrounded by the limited tools and options for both sides, I honestly don’t believe adding in more limitations will help the system.

If they don’t want to be prey then they are playing the wrong game, I never opened a thread when I was in null and lost a raven to a blob of 30 ships because it was unfair, Instead I adapted and learned to be more careful.

At no point in my post was I sorry or apologising, merely stating hunting with the current toolkit is not feasible. If people left because I killed them then boo hoo.

Yet again, CCP stated that it is not new players being effected.

no…you are playing the game wrong if the majority denies your action…THIS is the reallity…

And PVP is 25% at max…ever was…

I will be interested to see it happen. There is a huge difference in pvp style between a high sec merc and a ganker.

And they both have to be kicked out of high…they can gank themselves in low and 0.0 there is enough space

Because whether you like pvp/wardecs or not, it IS out of control. It has removed rhyme and reason, made it impersonal. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t give a fck about zero efforts who stop playing because of a wardec (they’re not EVE material to begin with) but i personally prefer quality over quantity.

This whole catering to the blob, lobbied for by the CSM, is bad in my opinion. Regardless of it being a high sec station camping blob or a massive blue donut that can insta jump their lazy fleet monkeys across the map, like locusts.

Actually it has more to do with the general dislike of one group having more power than the other, but relying on the developer/publisher to make some change instead of taking the time and effort to make that change themselves.

It happens in every faction-based game.

Edit: Consider this unofficial support of watching New Eden catch fire until someone decides to put the fire out themselves.

I disagree, things going BOOM in high sec is a good thing and makes for a healthy EVE economy. The perimeters around how things go BOOM is the issue. The war dec system for high sec needs love not elimination.

Dont get me wrong I agree and don’t like the status quo I just struggle to see how it’s possible to fix something that’s only ‘broken’ because people want complete safety. Prime example is this guy who wants wars and ganking out of high sec.

You are just repeating the crap you have been told for 15 years now…

Let me tell you something…if you do not try it you’ll never know…a change has to come, people are leaving and all those consevatives that talk the same crap over and over again are to be ignored and some kind of a REALLY NEW APPROACH has to be made…

It will not be the end of the game, just the end of the way some people look at it…

I’m not looking for safe, obviously, but it IS broken. The whole “remove wardecs” is nothing but impotent carebear rage or just troll alts (I assume the latter tbh).

I want to go back to a situation where choices matter. Where a wardeccer has to CHOOSE which group to dec and where small entities get the option of wardeccing again.

I have not done any real wardeccing since the buddy online changes because the only way to realistically wardec is by blobbing the ■■■■ out of it, due to the changes CCP and the null lobby CSM implemented. And I refuse to do blobbing of any kind, it’s why I’ve not actively been in a 0.0 alliance since 2009 and mostly gone solo pvp or in a small gang. I have alts in many/various places but I don’t really actively play them.

Regardless of my personal view on it and any carebear’s zero effort whining, blob wardeccing is out of control.

Think about this for a bit and realize how many ships and structures get destroyed in high sec. If you eliminate all those losses what do you think will happen to mineral prices and how will that effect all the high sec miners? Think about all the indy players that seed Jita, Amarr and smaller local markets. If ships, structures and modules stop exploding in high sec what do you think will happen to their income, the markets and their game play style?

I have done almost everything, lived in every sector except wormholes and played almost every play style in my 9 years. Making high sec a care bear playground would hurt EVE far more than the current state because care bears would leave due to boredom.

As you can imagine, posting from the other side of the fence I get alot of stick so I wanna say it’s great you can actually have a decent discussion about this.

Your type of gameplay is pretty much inline with what I like, used to love taking out 5 man kiting fleets against a group of 15. Unfortunately them days are gone.

With regards to mechanics and fixes, I honestly think these discussions are pointless. As with the other thread people seem to have a huge range of bias opinions as to why wars are broken, from no objective to full blown high sec safety.

All we do know is the mechanic is causing player issues and CCP needs to determine what/where the issues are and if/how it’s even fixable inline with other mechanics.

They’re not, you can still do it just fine. The nano days are gone (then again i never liked nano gangs, personal preference) and there’s more and better organised opposition these days, but it still works. You just have to choose to do it.

Which is the issue for me with wardeccing, I can choose to try and do it but the lack of game mechanics makes it impractical. Much more so than soloing in null.
