CCP should answer this post, or post somewhere else with an official explanation for this decision.
They did post an official explanation for the decision, when they removed it from character creation. Their NPE feedback was that having to pose the character before getting in-game was a needless obstruction.
I agree that they should have made it an optional part of character creation rather than remove it entirely, so those who enjoy the immersion or posing characters would still have that experience during character creation (and thus can tweak appearance to get a satisfactory look right away), and so all players know it is an option. Even a simple pop-up message of ‘Would you like to customize your character pose now? You can revisit the pose studio while docked at an NPC station.’ would be sufficient.
