This is just pure nonsense. Surreal reasoning. Nobody goes into a sport not caring who wins. They don’t hold the Premiere League behind closed doors and announce the winners to no-one. No-one plays a chess tournament not caring at all about who wins, with everyone just keeping their score to themselves. No-one goes to a Formula 1 race to not give a damn about who wins…with the leader board being kept hidden and secret.
By what utterly insane logic is EVE ( which is a competitive game ) any different ? Seriously, can all you people with such mentality just biomass and spare the rest of us this delve into surreal and twisted thinking.
The people who go into sports contests and races and anywhere, really, where your ‘‘worth’’ is hierarchically ranked against others are precisely the ones who need external validation. People, like myself, who don’t care about it, don’t ever go into competitive sports. That doesn’t mean we don’t like to do sports (I like to play soccer), or race cars, or play games. We do, we just don’t care about some arbitrary nonsense of places and awards or whatever.
Just because external validation is so important to you that you can’t imagine life without it, doesn’t mean everybody is like you. They aren’t. People are different. If you can’t fathom that concept, maybe you’re the one who is not right for this game?
EVE is not a competitive game in its essence. It’s a sandbox. You are not a better player just because you have the most kills, or most ISK, or most whatever. You can be competitive if you want, but it’s not tied to your worth as a player (unless you desperately need external validation, that is).
I could care less about someone’s kill record. It’s completely irrelevant and worthless. What I do take issue with is people’s fits being put on blast for everyone to see. By a private entity no less. When you go into combat it should be blind. As blind as it can be. No looking to see what the person’s usual fit is to decide if you want to engage or not, or refit to counter their likely fit.
I dont wanna have that..id rather want a killboard free day, like Friday, so that ppl who care about zk actually undock an generate fun. This killboard obsession you have and claim to not have kills the game for you. Just ignore it. Dont post, dont look, if you dont like zk. But dont ask for free intel
The wreck is just scrap remains of an explosion that shoots through space at high velocity in all directions with unhindered inertia. Rigs and all destroyed items wouldn’t be there to rummage through. The thing is, if you blew someone up that’s your knowledge that you earned. I didn’t earn the right to know that person’s personal fittings. I feel I should not be able to benefit from your kill. It’s just always felt invasive to me. Just how I feel.
Says someone who knows nothing about EVE and how accounts work. Apologies if you feel threatened by the mere suggestion that other people’s fittings be private. Rest assured CCP will not lift a finger to change the status quo in this instance. You can breathe a sigh of relief.
