AI slop?

I don’t think so, but definitely TL:DR

No it isn’t. Second Life has been doing full body 3 renditions of players since 2003. In fact just a month before EVE started. I regularly visit systems there that can portray 100 highly rendered avatars all dancing at a club…to a high degree of detail. The technology, particularly the use of mesh for stunningly life-like avatar rendition, has existed for years.

Vily lied, TEST died.

So, you want FC to just whip up a dedicate venue…just like that.

Ah, theres the bottleneck.

The emperor is wearing no clothes. We are all fools.

Some people may think it looks bad, I have no doubts.

I think it looks good.

The weathered scratched look on all of our ships that makes every logo have a coherent theme despite all being designed by totally different people is a nice touch. And it makes sense too that our mostly used and weathered ships aren’t flawless with their logos. So no, I do not think it makes the game world worse.

But this is pretty subjective and doesn’t seem to be the main topic of the thread, so I’ll continue to what you wanted to talk about.

Yea, explain how we play with zero latency if we’re all connecting to one ‘building’ from all across the world.

This is unrealistic talk of someone who doesn’t know how the internet works.

Also have you considered that ‘doing all the computations in one building’ is practically what happens now with the EVE server?

The only differences of what you propose versus what we have now is:

  • FCCP now has to do all the client calculations too on top of the server calculations, and has to cut some of the server budget to get compute for the clients too, delaying server upgrades
  • players cannot gain benefit from upgrading their own system, they’re limited by the server-side rendering
  • latency now no longer is between server and the centralized client calculations, but you still have the same latency between client and the player as before due to physical distance of players to the (client) server, so you’re not winning anything

I don’t see the point.

It seems like a worse situation than we’re in now.

Yea, there may be a reason nobody is talking like this.

At first sight it makes zero sense.

Do you think we could rent a stadium and do a massive LAN party? Instead of playing long-distance, we could all connect directly to the servers.

Could be fun!

I can smell it already too, all those EVE players together in a zero-latency environment.

TiDi won’t be caused by the servers this time. It’ll be the air quality
