CODE: From the Perspective of a Non-Miner

I always thought it was the other way around, that CCP wanted you to love them.

I will love CCP only when they build an ice statue of James in Halaima, put a ring of dancing fire Aikos in orbit of Agil III, and officially edit the in-game canon to describe the dissolution of the Empires, the election of the Saviour, and the succession of the Saviourette. I also want CONCORD and faction police to start hunting the miners.

Let the bots kill the bots.

The anti-CODE people here need to read and understand this: http://www.sirlin.net/ptw-book/introducingthe-scrub

I am not disputing their right to exist, nor anyone else’s for that matter, that is destructive kind reasoning that I do not practice.

I do not claim that at all, I mentioned couple of times before that everything is within the game rules as long as it doesn’t break EULA, which as far as I know they are careful not to do.
All I said was I do not like them, their so called doctrine or the way they play the game, that’s it.
My own personal opinion, I do believe I am entitled to one.

Have that Ice Statue re spawn once a day after reset so we can mine ice blocks from it.

CODE. isn’t an issue if you follow some pretty basic rules:

  1. Set them and any other known ganking corp/alliance orange or red in standings. Watch local.

  2. Tank your ships. Seriously, put a bit of tank on your ships and you should be fine.

  3. Don’t mine within 5 jumps of Jita or any other trading hubs… ganking groups patrol these ideas

  4. Have insta undock and dock bookmarks for stations you use in areas known for ganking.

  5. If you can use a blockade runner or a DST instead of a freighter, do it. They will survive where a paper thin freighter gets exploded.

As for what CODE. does. They are an important part of Eve’s ecosystem… just like benthivores in an aquarium.

So basically you are suggesting people should follow the Code and they will be good, wise words indeed.

Nope… because that would include paying for a mining permit and I don’t recommend that.

Nor would I ‘gf’ anyone after a gank; I expect people to hull up and accept getting ganked, but ganking isn’t a fight. A fight suggests some form of competition; by its very nature, a gank isn’t competitive. Just as I expect people who are ganked to hull up, I expect gankers to hull up and admit they are gankers and not act like they are anything different.

And if I see a member of CODE. in local, I might decide to make fun of them and even I’ll even use swear words when talking to them if I please.

Overall, I consider Code.'s code to be a joke and an excuse to gank by roleplaying. What’s sad is you don’t need an excuse to gank, just hull up and do it…

We don’t roleplay?

Calm down, CODE. member!!

We do recommend the purchase of a permit it will make you feel so much better about yourself.

when i joined EVE one of the main rules of EVE alongside don’t undock in something you are not prepared to lose was if you find yourself in a fair fight you have screwed up.
Ganking is in fact a fight its just that the victim couldn’t be bothered to prepare for it and that’s not our fault, if the victim thinks its unfair they lost they should have followed the Code

so you enjoy our content and join in, no need to thank us for the content, though that would be good manners to do so.

roleplaying in an MMORPG whats the world come to !!! . Though i often claim we dont Roleplay in EVE we in fact play a role which is quite different.

I feel better keeping my ISK for myself. Thanks though.

Those rules haven’t change.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to make you feel better. I don’t need someone to tell me ‘gf’ after I ganked them; but I don’t need someone to stroke my ego…

As I said, you’re an important part of our ecosystem. And I don’t thank my catfish for cleaning my aquarium; after all, he’s doing his part.

About 99% of the PvP that happens in the game isn’t a fight. Outside some rare cases like two opposing FW pilots meeting each other in a site, or an occasional ratter getting caught by a ship class-outmatched solo pirate, the engagements in EVE come down to one side having absolute superiority over another. Even when big fleets engage each other, that’s still true; one side goes into that battle knowing fully well that they’ll win. Just because the other side shoots back doesn’t make it a “good fight” by any stretch of imagination. It’s a completely meaningless thing to say, and when you think about it, in most cases actually insulting.

Well, there was that one Pandemic Legion vs Goonswarm supercap fight where PL would have won, but their pilots were too afraid to log in…

I pretty much agree with everything you said… except for maybe what I just quoted. But I also live in J-space which is different from K-space. I’ll ‘gf’ people who got me with a really good bait out, because they did a good job getting me with bait. And I don’t mean it negatively, I like to think of myself as pretty careful about being baited… and if they get me, they deserve a congrats for it.

Ah, yes, wormholes. I’m quite familiar with those:

Sorry, I’m not a member of one of those huge wormhole corps.

Yeah, you are from one of those wormhole groups that has a killboard full of kills against new players in exploration frigates (not to mention a fair number of Ventures):

https://zkillboard.com/corporation/98611445/reset/group/25/losses/

It’s amazing how hypocritical some players can be when they decide they are the “good guy” (come on, you are broadcasting your self conception as a white knight with that corp name) excusing their actions as righteous, while condemning others that do the same.

At least CODE. mostly goes after rich, complacent veterans. Last month they had 630B ISK destruction over 3500 kills, so ~180M ISK/kill on average. Your corp’s killboard is full of weeks-old capsuleers in noob mining and exploration fits.

I hope you are as kind to these newbros you slaughter as the good people at CODE. and explain what happened and how they can improve at the game. Not only do agents reach out directly to any new players exploded, the organization’s foundational document codifies these lessons and has helped many a miner see what they can do to be a better Eve player, and to be a better person in general.

Code from the perspective of non-roleplayer:

Suicide gankers.

That’s it. That’s all. Everything else is just role play which you can either participate in or not.
