Not sure if this helps, but I had already been in game for about 30 minutes, was in space fighting rats, when I got the socket closed error. Now trying to get back in and hope my drones took care of those rats while I am gone.

It seems as though for every negative, unhelpful complaint you post on here, your socket will close with a 5.4x multiplier. On a happier note, it appears mine are working perfectly. Thanks CCP!
