@ Compo Does this make you feel powerful? Are you a Dog person?
What does that even mean? You don’t like that pilot?
You still have your big toe in your mouth?
Reason behind such image needs a reason or keep it to your self please, the person you quoted has good ideas, please dont go and try to shut them down, offer something other than some random image.
The station bashing is a good point. Keep in mind though that 1.0-0.8 stays as it is now, and 0.4 and under have at least BCs (Oracle bashing for instance). So the primary effect would be on 0.7, 0.6 and 0.5 space. Plus I don’t really think station bashing is as big a part of the game as ship PvP (which is already a small part of the overall game).
I do get the idea that “the wide open sandbox is attractive” to certain people. The problem is, that niche of people is small, and getting smaller in EVE every year. The active player charts paint a pretty grim picture and even going F2P and running event after event to stimulate logins is barely stemming the bleeding.
I’m not wedded to this specific idea of limiting ship classes to certain areas so new players have a choice of engagement limits. On the other hand, venturing into low-sec and getting hit by a hunter pack of T3C’s or assault frigates doesn’t seem like such a great design choice either. This is just an example of something CCP could do to provide a less ridiculously unbalanced playing field for newer/intermediate players.
Some changes will drive players away, certainly. But staying ‘as is’ has already been driving players away for 8 years now. It’s time CCP took some risks and implemented fundamental design changes.
