Cruisers recommended for L2 missions, but they dont pay anywhere near Cruiser 15 mil price

No, that’s incorrect.. With the exception of Burner missions which is relatively new, regular mission pay and their NPC bounty pay have stayed the same.. In fact due to the constant nerf on loot and salvage drops, those missions actually generate less isk now than they did back when I first started playing in 2008… All that other stuff you mentioned has nothing to do with what I said…

Did you read what I wrote? It doesn’t matter if the payout stays the same if the tools get more efficient.

I make around 200M Isk/hr from regular missionrunning in HS. Single account, not cherrypicking, no blitzing, ignoring burners. Just full-clearing one mission after the other. 350M ISK/hr if I focus hard on blitzing both regular and burner missions and standing-tanking low value missions.

Those payouts were absolutely unachievable many years ago and that content does in no way require a payout buff. The amount of money you can make in close to 100% safety in HS is bonkers already.

Even if he was right (which he isn’t), doesn’t matter as ships are not much more expensive as they were in 2008 anyways. And to be on topic, cruisers aren’t really changed price wise, they were likely affected the least.

The fact still remains that mission pay and NPC bounties haven’t changed for decades.. Another thing that hasn’t changed over the years is loot and salvage drops constantly getting nerfed…

I really don’t care what you or your buddy Malak say, don’t care if you say ships can move faster now, shoot quicker and even reprocess loot on the field during a mission… You’re truly high as hell if you think more ISK is being made today in High Sec compared to how it was a dozen years ago, especially after all the nerfs done over the past dozen years…

AI Overview

No, the price of cruisers in EVE Online is not the same as it was in 2008.

While specific ship prices fluctuate due to market changes, T1 Cruisers have generally seen significant price increases over the last two decades, largely driven by industry changes, mineral scarcity, and inflation.

  • Then vs. Now: In 2008, ships were significantly cheaper. While some players might recall cruisers in the 8–10 million ISK range during earlier, less inflated eras, prices have risen considerably over time.
  • Current Prices (2024–2026): By 2024–2026, standard T1 Cruisers (such as a Vexor) are often seen priced significantly higher than in the past, with reports indicating T1 cruisers frequently costing around 10–15 million ISK or more for a basic hull, and higher for fitted, popular ships like Gilas.
  • Industry Changes: Changes to the economy, such as scarcity and major adjustments to blueprints (e.g., increased Isogen requirements), have raised the base manufacturing cost of many ships, which are reflected in final market prices.
  • Market Trends: As of early 2026, while the overall ship price index was declining by roughly 21% compared to the previous year, the overall cost of ships remains far above 2008 levels.

While some T1 ships remain accessible, the general trend for EVE ships since 2008 has been upward in terms of ISK cost.

Dude, now stfu and stop bothering me with your BS remarks … Any more personal attacks from you will be reported as harassment..

Unless the AI has some sources you can site, please do not use AI as they often are incorrect, in fact it seems to be using what people said in 2021 or sooner for prices in 2008. Never in my time of playing, have the cruisers ever been 5 mil in minerals, except perhaps the old tier 1 cruisers (which now have a higher mineral cost anyways and match that of old tier 3 cruisers).

What personal attack? All I’ve been doing is remarking on your words.

Since you can’t produce official reports to prove otherwise, I’ll believe AI facts over anything you have to say, especially since you constantly try to incite a flame war with insulting and demeaning remarks about me… In other words, personal attacks…

Now for the last time, stop stalking and harassing me…

Please point to them for me so I know what you are talking about.

And that fact is totally irrelevant because due to other changes you can still make more money in less time than ever before. So the activity clearly don’t need a buff. In fact, LP and Bounty Payout in HS should be reduced by a flat 25% because it’s way too easy to grind large amounts of money in almost complete safety. And T5+T6 Abyssals should either be banned or always give a suspect timer.

In fact, over the course of a month, neither Lowsec nor Wormholes can beat what I can make in HS just because I can repeat missions endlessly and never have “downtimes” where hostiles might camp my system. I do live in C3s and C4s and have access to C5s and can do anything from multiboxing Marauders to Capital Ratting. Still HS trumps it all in total income just by offering me an environment where I can run Missions and HighTier Abyssals basically nonstop whenever I want. And thats totally absurd. HS is WAAAAAAY too lucrative these days.

By the way, i am not talknig about Level 4 security missions.

I am talking about Level 2, which Eve University recommends a Cruiser for, but they dont pay enough to make back the Cruiser in a reasonable amount of time, unless you have some sort of superpower where time goes by faster for you so you get money quicker.

I can do them in a Tech 1 frigate, the only problem i have is the Cruisers taking a long time to kill, and the 25,000 bounty frigates with high resists…maybe i should switch to close range ammo on my long range turret.

I have tried doing it in a Destroyer before, but Destroyers are bigger and slower, so end up taking alot of damage, especially from the frigates and destroyers…
…
compared to my Frigate which can go 800 meters per second with afterburner on, and is smaller than the Destroyer, meaning it takes waaayyy less damage

I know, I am talking to the guy claiming that “missions don’t pay enough because everything is so expensive today and their payouts haven’t been raised”. He is talking nonsense and especially newbros should not get fooled by it.

As someone else said: Your expectations are too high. It is totally okay to require multiple hours to get back your investment with missions. There are activities that require hundreds or even thousands of hours to get your investment back. If you think you are better off doing them in a frigate, do it. I am pretty sure I could do them a lot faster in a Cruiser. The key is that you have to learn that you fly a cruiser different than you fly a frigate. Once you have learned that, a cruiser almost always clears any content faster than a frigate can do it. Very very rare exceptions.

That doesnt sound right.
If it takes hundreds of hours of doing a activity to make back your investment, something is not right. Game should not be that way. Either game isnt designed well, or people are bringing too expensive ships and things to certain content.

My raven w/implants costs 1b. A L4 mission maybe will pay out 5m. Its not the mission itself that pays for ships but bounties on all the rats you kill

What doesnt sound right. Please elaborate.

How long have you been playing. If you dont have the hundreds of hours invested to know all the little quirks of cruisers and how fast theyll do level 2’s then i think your expecting too much too soon.

I worked my way up through all the mission levels one by one. I didnt dare try to jump into anything that i knew wasnt going to get the job done. When i began to get into level 3’s then thats when the mechanics started to get a bit tough. I stayed in a drake for almost a year knocking those out to make sure i was well versed and well equipped to get into the 4’s.

Its not anything you can just accomplish in a month, or two. or three. As mentioned, it takes a lot of time to get to that point of investments returning to you.

I have 18 years invested and i still make mistakes. I run level 4’s in a tengu ( i have 2b invested in that ship )…which is a huge investment if you want to run them in an any efficient speed. If youre doing level 2’s in a cruiser then youre right on track. Keep doing that until youre ready for 3’s…then ready for 4’s. Its not going to happen as soon as you may think or perhaps been told by other people.

Gah I remember how long it took to get to 4s. 2012, Co-running drakes with my friend until we could get our Ravens trained up enough to where we both could survive

Prepare yourself for some nasty surprises then. EVE isn’t made with instant rewards in mind.

There are activities and projects that begin to ‘pay off’ after weeks, months or even years. And if you make mistakes, all is lost LONG before you get back your investment.

And thats exactly why success feels so rewarding here. Thats why some challenges feel thrilling. It isn’t always easy.

And to mention, and going back to what Syzyglum stated…the drakes that i lost on the way.

It always seemed on the very day that my investment was back into the positive, i would do something dumb and lose the drake…only to have to spend all the isk it took me weeks upon weeks to save all over again.

Back then it was heart wrenching for that to happen. Each and every loss taught me a little bit more of the do’s and donts. The op is doing level 2’s right now and they pay a small reward indeed but the missions are fairly easy and straight forward. I have this feeling that the OP will more than likely have to experience the same heart ache the rest of us have in the past when moving up to the tougher missions.

I think the biggest lesson for me was finding out exactly how dangerous a small group of frigates can really be.

Instead of a missions overhaul we got freelance jobs…

The pay of level 2 security missions are not designed for 15 mil ISK cruisers, They are designed for frigates and destroyers.

If its taking someone days or weeks to get back their ship cost and other costs from security missions, they are using the wrong ship. Go cheaper and smaller, thats what the mission was designed for, thats why they pay so little.

Level 2 security missions are designed for frigates and destroyers. Thats why they pay around 100-200k ISK, not including Loyalty Points. They are not designed for 15 mil ISK cruisers. People are intentionally running them at a loss because they were told that they need a Cruiser, when the missions pay and content is actually designed for frigates and destroyers.
