The limitations of the CSM are well understood. What you need to learn to distinguish is when people are angered by an arrogant attitude from CSM members that there simply is not a problem, as opposed to there may be a problem but CCP are not listening.

With all due respect, if you read the thread, you will note that the discussion of Photon is specifically focused on the CSMā€™s attitude towards the issues with Photon - the issues themselves are indeed detailed in the other threads to which you refer - so is on topicā€¦ despite the claims made by certain parties that anyone who dares question said CSM attitude is derailing the thread.

Anyway, I have made my points above, let others now judge with whom they choose to agree.

Photon should not have been the single biggest issue for CSM to focus on :rofl: There are plenty of other issues in game that need focused on. Like power projection, resource distribution, FW, capital gameplay and plenty more.
Photon, while it has a few bugs/issues, is a good change and people just hate change. Yes it still needs work but itā€™s a not awful and it is getting better with each update.
Hell at first I hated photon. After using it for a few months now Iā€™ve become accustom to it and am actually beginning to enjoy it. Still has a few quirks I dislike but overall it is better than the old UI.

Do you see anyone talking about any of the other issues and presentation topics that Brick mentioned in his OP? The only other serious topic was power projection and Brisc could not talk about that due to NDA and then Hoboleaks took care of his mandated silence. Soā€¦

Not really, there are lots of single snippets with small areas compared. What I am interested in is a full-screen screenshot with the whole UI shown as u use it so I can see what, if your claims are correct, is unachievable in Photon UI.

What is unachievable, if you bothered to read the other threads, is matching information density. Wasted space in other words, even in compact. Just one issue of many, but arguably the biggest. To keep @ISD_Traindriver happy, that is all I will say here, it really is expounded at exhaustive length elsewhere.

Worth spinning off a separate thread, so this one doesnā€™t just continue to become a Photon UI thread and can get to being about the overall CSM Summit.

The point I am trying to make is that every single aspect of the game is, by definition, affected by the means by which the User Interfaces with the game. Therefore, if the UI is not the very best that CCP can make it - and some of us would suggest that Photon is as yet very far from that definition, as expounded elsewhere - then it really should be the biggest single issue for the CSM.

We can choose to disagree.

Agree to disagree about that. More important issues in game. You forget you and dyver derailed a SUMMARY of a whole summit down to your issues with photon.

Not derailed. The summary still exists at the OP. Discuss other issues arising from it if you wish - @Dyver_Phycad and I are not preventing that.

I donā€™t see the problem. This ā€œderailmentā€ kept the topic active and on top of the list and it is very much on topic because Photon was part of the summit. Nothing keeps people from discussing other points from the summary. Besides Io Koval, no one does care about any of this here, though.

There is functionally zero difference in the amount of information available to me or the amount of screen real estate the game takes up.

This is why I get tired of listening to the complaints. They are simply people unhappy with the fact that something is changing.

Thx for your screenshots, is that original resolution or scaled down in the pictures? Because 1920x539 is quite an unusual screen resolution and they look quite blurryā€¦? If I had to guess Iā€™d say you actually play in 3840x1080 borderless window mode and the screenshots are scaled down to 50%?

Thatā€™s scaled down 50%. I play in 5120x1440 with the UI scaled up to 125%, fixed window.

ah yea, I use 2x 28" monitors with 2510x1400 so basically the same amount of pixels for me (2x 3.6mio px = 7.2mio px).

Maybe thats the reason why we have no issues with it. I suppose he tries to run the game in like FullHD (1920x1080 = 2.1 mio px) and then any wasted space for thick borders etc. is way harder to compensate. Most gamers still use FullHD monitors as far as I know and most middleclass GPUs deliver way more performance in FHD than in higher resolutions.

Did CCP say anything at the summit what screen resolutions and screen sizes they test and optimize photon for?

No, we didnā€™t get into that level of detail with them.

Any ETA for CCPā€™s corresponding notes on the event (if theyā€™ll do a share-out)?

Iā€™m hoping weā€™ll get them in a week or two. I know theyā€™re working on them.
