As Soon As I see a Loot Boxes or similar mechanic in eve-online. I will leave after 11 years and never look back. Truth be told all the original creators left this game long ago only devs and owners left are clueless. The recent expansion failures demonstrate repeated incompetence on ccp part. The mmo maker paid 425 million for this game you can bet we are all screwed. They will be looking recover that losted $$$ with crap loads of micro transactions.
CCP Art guy becomes Executive Producer. Devs lately only talk about new graphics.
My my.
Relax. There’s quite a few zones where any product simply can’t go down that road due to judicial and legal frameworks. PA won’t get it. But the fines they would understand. So as long as EVE has, for example, Dutch EMEA customers, CCP can’t go down that road.
Which reminds me, I need to find a Dutch eve player and give him or her a hug.
The lack of any communication from CCP whatsoever besides their generic announcement is somewhat telling in and of itself.
If this was a popular thing inside the company, they would have Falcon et al out here in full damage control mode telling everyone how it will be OK.
The fact they don’t could mean they didn’t want it either, but when your investors decide to sell there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it.
Move your head in honor to the music
Your video is somehow blocked for copyright reasons?
So this is the real Abyss they were preparing for us…
No.
-
It’s called letting steam off. Once that is done your customers are easier to tame, easier to trigger in other directions.
-
The idea is that PA will fill an artificially inflated communications void to reinforce perception of them being communicative.
-
Regardless of any and all, CCP does consider this a massive change, has calculated for impact, and does not consider some stress to be unexpected. Turn it around, while the old ones are, well, old, and want new life, for them and most regular actually working folks there EVE is their baby. And they sold it. They can understand their customers being wary.
-
CCP is well aware that current conditions in terms of perception management, fractured community, segregated communication flow and a lot of cumulative normalisation through F2P their customers are now very tame. And drink the koolaid. They have done their math. There is no real potential for things flaring up in any meaningful way.

There’s two parties currently.
Yea, i decided to begin recording my events as well again. to have a record of when Eve was CCP Eve.
Are my videos blocked??
I can see them can someone confirm?
Its my first time uploading to youtube.
Just read my last posts mate, it no matter when you entered the game, if you really do, it’s not hard to understand the fighting mechanics that everyone does mate.
We enter combat environment when our avatar grow full size in maturity, that provided from the career path we chose, that would be more comfortable and idea for have stuff enough go around,
It is not a pay to win situation anyways mate, I bet you either need to find a way to make your career path more effectively or setting up goals to it just try grow it and taking it seriously towards a better understanding to its game mechanics mate, every career path got chances towards game mechanics from different angles, just set a goal and push it higher.
Seems like not really playing while playing to that question tho
And I bet you’ve said EVE is a niche game…
Confirmed, i see them.
The difference was, the venture capital guys didn’t have a stake in the MMO market as game developers whereas pearl abyss do, they have the power to just fire most of the CCP staff if they wanted to and to just move in house devs in to milk the game, venture capital companies won’t really do that
Of course they had a stake…they owned CCP.
How long do you think EVE players will stay and be milked?
Forever.
The only way they are going tame anyone is saying all EVE accounts made before the announcement get free life time Omega on CCP’s behalf. CCP still has the right to do that. As long there is a CCP trade mark and no Pearl Abyss trademark anywhere, CCP still has control over the game.
If CCP wants to they can debilitate this entire game in such a way that Pearl Abyss might think again about going along with the acquisition.
Also, then there is the Iceland government that can stop this by playing the possibility of a world monopoly card. If that would happen, everything would end right there.
The big problem that CCP and should I say its owners, didn’t think about when thinking about the acquisition was the effect of removing alpha state from the game, since IMO, Pearl Abyss will most likely do that. It is not the first time a game developer made this mistake by not examining this from all ends. Take Runescape for example, when a few monster drops were turned from F2P to P2P, the market collapsed, because the F2P used that item to make cheap items. The price of that item was much more than the end product. By the time Jagex realized this mistake it was too late, since undoing it would lead to another in game market collapse. This is exactly what could happen to EVE if alpha is removed.
People keep saying this. I’ve recently come back and I’m not sure what it means. What can’t an omega account do?
Mixed feelings on this. Asia MMO-RPGs are usually overly boring and full of p2w and cheaters, but then Black Desert Online really stood out from the crowd. Maybe Pearl Abyss is a company that knows how to make good games.
On the other hand CCP has proven over and over again that they are really bad at making games. The only reason Eve is still uncontested in it’s area is that the game lives because of the community, and you can’t just drop a new game and get the same community as that of a 15 year old game. But if you just look at the ~30k active players at prime time, you know the game isn’t doing as well as it could. considering that there is no competition. And Investors are not withdrawing money from something that is a good investment.
The reason is that CCP is unable to properly use the potential that Eve has, because they lack the creativity and professionalism to turn a good game into a great one. Just remember the chat incident during the last expansion, where CCP wasn’t even able to run a chat server based on existing software properly. As someone who works as IT project lead I have no idea how you can possibly fail on that. And then there is the horrible UX that just screams “bad!” at every other corner, the ship balance, and all those hundreds of design mistakes that they are never going to fix, simply because they don’t understand them…
I have no idea if the problem is CCP as a whole or if there are individual blockers on management level, but this game could be so much better with some professional touches here and there. My hope is that Pearl Abyss is going to exchange a few heads in the right positions to level up the game to what it could be. My greatest fear is if they don’t understand that the community is the very core of the game, and destroy that for some quick cash.
