Dev blog: Black Desert Online makers Pearl Abyss to acquire CCP!

What do you think the abysmal mods were, people spent real cash to gamble for perfect mods.

If Eve Online would bring profit, CCP would not have sold it?
But who buy a game which brings nothing?

Ah, apologies, I should have been more clear. I mean that the factor time is one factor for pay-to-accomodate. Shortcuts, essentially. Like now a skill injector enables you to skip training for a week, or a year, depending on how much you are willing to pay. What PA has done in BDO is often based on seducing people to not spend time grinding, but to buy the shortcut and get ability / item / resource right away.

They’re not all the way through with their roadmap yet, mostly because of having to push the roadmap to different publishers, but it is something the main publisher has not been shy about to give details on.

if they do the wrong Roadmap ->>> RIP

That is extremely nihilistic…you can’t believe anything then.

But all they have done so far is buy CCP Games. They have not done what everyone is saying they are going to do…at least not yet.

Yes, I read those too, but you can assume the worst or wait and see.

Going up last I checked.

No changes for now so long as CCP hits is financial targets.

Mutaplasmids are a working experiment and starting point for further experiments on pay-to-accomodate, gambling mechanisms and a few more things. This was quite clear from the get-go. It’s also something which appeals more to less raw-scifi usertypes, fitting in less strict mindsets of usertypes from other game environments.

What? Gambling?

I played Black desert during its western debut. After 2 months I was left with the impression of an Eastern MMO that didn’t understand western culture, nor understood American nor European player motivations. They constructed a shell of a game dedicated to simply earning cash in an Asian market where Pay to Win was a common and successful occurrence, they mostly failed to port their title to the Americas. It was also a copy of a half dozen other MMO’s that I’ve played, from as early as 2004; few original concepts with the exception of the combat control system. That system felt like carpel tunnel after only a week of play.

While Pear Abyss may have created a successful title in Asia (for a time), they failed to adapt to a wider, multi-cultural, and global audience. An audience that makes up the vast majority of the EvE player base. My experience with Black Desert was not positive; nor does my experience give me hope for the future of EvE, regardless of how firm the foundation or intentions.

I wish the developers and players luck in the future of this game. But I’m not sure how much longer I will be a part of it. My tolerance for this developer is already extremely low from past experiences. I hope for the best, but I’m less than enthusiastic.

An here is the problem. Hitting the financial targets was never a thing for CCP. But now…

Making EVE have a time limited F2P is nothing different from a fully P2P EVE. I can see all pure alphas leaving the game and migrating to something else.

A time limited EVE owned by PA is also a sign that PA is planning to do the evil things they do to BDO to EVE as well.

A time limited F2P EVE will permanently remove the player base from poor or countries that are currently at war. Russians might stop playing the game as Russia supports North Korea more than South Korea. RUSSIANS are a one of the large portions of the pie chart of where the players in EVE come from. Who knows, Putin might ban access to South Korean servers.

yep my sub just went the same way…my money stays in my wallet until further notice !! well done ccp you really knocked this one out of the park!!!

How do you know? Do you work for either of the two venture capital firms?

It’s not a new player on the table. Someone bought the table, the chairs and the whole appartment building.

Once the deal goes on October 12th, CCP will no longer be CCP -they will be a subsidary of Pearl Abyss, and it will be up to PA to decide what do they want to do with CCP and their only profitable product aka EVE Online.

And mind you, PA has paid for the deal more than CCP earns in 6 years, or the whole profit of about 55 years of running CCP.

They will want their money’s worth of it -and you will pay for it.

TRUE STORY BRO

No, EA is where studios go to have their individuality and tech assimilated, and the fleshy parts then disposed of.

They’re basically the Borg.

EA would have made this game much more easier to play on XBOX and other gaming platforms, as well as even on mobile.

No mate, we just trying to figure out what is happening, at least we should watch what most of us paying on, dun you think? It’s not like have to beg it out or something,
I mean we shouldn’t care for like couple of tens in our pocket but when it’s lost at least we should think of where it happened, don’t you think? Doesn’t mean we have to beg it back or something, it’s just a couple of tens. But in that case, it’s lost is about where have we been, not about how much value a ten dollar worth tho.

Please don’t post stupid. You don’t have to pay for it. Quit. You always have the power of exit.

You ae talking about dollars. What about people in war torn countries, or countries in Africa where ten dollars mean food for an entire week. You are only thinking about your self, and the country you and I live in. What about those countries. Are you saying that they are nobodies?

CCP has to be one of the biggest companies in Iceland after the fishing industry, surely it should be a going concern and therefore an asset to Icelandic economy? Why can’t the government just chip in and buy those investors out, why the need to sell and to the South Koreans of all companies. They have no idea about maintaining a dialogue with their gaming communities, all you have to do you tube BDO and it’s all there to see. What happens 12-24 month when this ■■■■ blows over and ■■■■ starts to happen in game will we be listened to? Will the CSM continue to be a thing in 12-24 month? Its the constant communication between dev’s and players that make Eve what it is, it’s why i pay a sub every month. If this is going to change then I’m gone.

When I said mobile I meant the experience that EA has with mobile apps compared to PA’s. CCP’s EVE companion mobile app is in big need of redesign, and I do not think PA even has the experience to fix this problem.
