Robin Jung also did not say anything why they acquired CCP. Not a single word.

The customer volume is not the primary, or even a secondary decision variable in any of this. See this post.

As for the rest, people will enjoy getting boiled like frogs without thinking about it and asking “please sir can I have some more”.

The ones who don’t, whine and leave. They are easily replaced by a) a remaining customer base which yields more income through MT which b) further normalises further changes that attract c) different player types which are more accepting of MT.

It isn’t rocket science. And CCP has dealt with this kind of thing before. Why do you think there is moderation in this topic for example. They let people vent, it depletes energy which in the past was used by players to try and impact CCP. This is just one of the many lessons CCP figured out. Instead they let the steam blow off, then route focus to a carefully crafted and scripted AMA where even the dumbest simple selection mechanisms can provide perception as and how it is needed according to goals. And that too is but one of many things that got figured out.

I’m so afraid at eve ending that I’ve chosen to believe that maybe it will be good and ccp will keep doing what they normally do with maybe shared tech from the other guys. I would hate to see any likeness of that horrible mmo in new Eden.

Aw come on, imagine Incarna 2.0 with PA’s boob physics. Imagine BDO with EVE’s grand battle architecture. It’s gonna be awesome. And artistic.

Heck, these are interesting times. CCP is always at the forefront of such times. They always embrace change and crank it up a notch. They achieve amazing technological and artistic achievements. Vision that nobody could imagine but which is made reality faster than anything done before. It’s a road filled with pinnacles of professional achievement based on more than one perfect match.

CCP knows to ignore the noise. Stand firm with the agenda. Currently they are seeing very predictable feedback on what they are doing.

Yeah, I know, but dirty that. Old players may recognise the play on quotes there

Without any hyperbole, this is the worst news I’ve ever heard relating to EVE Online and CCP.

They buy themselves back. Learn to read.

Why? You might get the opportunity to buy a Slaver Hound, a control implant for it and a special salvaging mech to go out and loot mission wrecks for you. € 40, but if you don’t want to pay that, you can also spend 4 hours with enchantment mechanisms for looting and salvaging chance based to clear the field.

:stuck_out_tongue:

TBH I always was a fan of Wis I mean not what we actually experienced but a full version with player interaction. Boob physics are always a yes. Only space losers object to boob physics.

Your hoe don’t even look good. Eyes found on Down’s syndrome patients and a manjaw.

Circumstances and behaviour has changed as much as the available player types.

Aside of the epic screwups by CCP’s management on the matter of Incarna, it did become clear quite quickly that in those days under those conditions WIS would have severely hurt the operational and functional requirements of EVE Online. In those days EVE was solely based on emergent behaviour, the psychology of overcompensating in association, identity and activity for not being a recognisable human but a ship.

Now, this is very, very different.

nothing new, even within EvE, can you imagine selling SP few years ago? PA will do the same, it won’t be like EvE will start all that BDO is now, but check their forums, they said they won’t introduce p2w, yet they did. It just took time.
Anyway, gaming industry is a weird state now, it’s hard to tell what koreans want to do. I don’t buy round sentences that EvE will be just part of bigger group and left for itself with developement. CCP is sold. A handshake and a promise is nothing, and nobody would put that kind of money on the table to not interfere with newest pucharse.

Thanks for the link.

So now we have Fanfest to blame.

The really funny bit is that it was one of the most lackluster Fanfests with the least content and the lowers energy as CCP was already shifting resources and cutting costs as well as corners.

What he is saying is just marketing. You know what marketing is  It’s tools to make you behave in such a way that it benefits someone other than you

Aye. But as myself and others outlined earlier in the topic, shiny is a tool. For CCP towards customers. But also for PA towards CCP, which has always had a small but dominant core of Art + Friends & Family excerting influence. It’s the ideal entry point for PA to direct CCP. And customers will ask for more.

Of course, the truth can make for good P&R when it needs to. And yes, when the swords starts swinging over one’s head then you cannot trust anyone and have to do whatever it takes to survive. But for the time being do I believe he meant what he said in that interview. He wouldn’t have invested this much money if he thought it was all crap and lies.

I hope it’s a case of a company diversifying, but I’ll do the same as always. Play the game while it’s fun, stop when it isn’t.

Actually, this is where it is worth digging into him and PA itself. It is worth to invest in subjective reality. In truth, this is one of their foundation principles. Truth is a non-factor for PA, if anything their consistancy of discrepancy between statements and actions over all this time is a clear indicator of that. Not just in terms of relations to product/publisher/studio, but also to shareholders.

Keep in mind, this is not an EU/US business mindset. PA knows full well that in several ways they are overpaying. It does not matter, because they know that they have ample opportunity to compensate for this. Just, through an approach based on their mindset and operational requirements.

His statements on Fanfest are demonstrably false. Yet it is a solid entry point for messaging, regardless of the message being, shall we say, less than correct. It isn’t about swords, it’s just about the bottom line.

CCP’s original investors and shareholders benefit well from this deal. So does PA. CCP as a company is no more, it is now just a studio. This is the gaming industry, there is not a single exception to the line of how that ends.

I don’t buy all the EVE is dying stuff. It isn’t. It’s just changing. It’s up to each and every capsuleer to determine for him or herself whether the results of gradual changes suit them or not.

Muhahahahaha …
You’re so naive.

No, CCP Games got bought. There is no more diversification or branching out. They just follow directives now, made on a venture level. That’s it, business as usual how it always goes.

But yes, EVE is not dead. It’s just changing. People can make up their own minds. If it doesn’t suit them, that is fine. They are easily replaced by player types more in tune with a changing EVE, who are willing to pay more and extra.
