Dev blog: Black Desert Online makers Pearl Abyss to acquire CCP!

Omfg this is all gold. @ISD, make this thread permanant.

This was really fun to read ahahahaha

Adopt A CONCORD.

You buy a fleet of CONCORD ships to escort you in space.

Limited by time and size.

3 Frigates @ 1 Hour = 25 Million ISK or $2.50

2 Battleships @ 3 Hours = 100 Million or ISK $5

1 Frigate 2 Cruisers 2 Battleships @ 24 hours = 1 Billion ISK or $15

And everything inbetween.

All ship types, sizes, time and ISK amount are subject to critique…

lolz

“Price check” - For just $20 the character you select can now check prices in one other region without being there for a period of one month.

(yeah, I know. I know. But if they’re going to cater to the micro-transactions horde, it’ll sell)

To all citizens of New Eden,
The topic I am writing to you about today has the potential to affect all of us. The effects of the recent purchase of CCP games by Pearl Abyss have the potential to ruin this universe that we have all made our home over the last 15 years.
Pearl Abyss has a history of over monetizing its fan base and this could rapidly become the norm with eve online (or it could kill this game). In light of this, the community, the people who ultimately keep the lights on at CCP HQ need to respond. We cannot sit by as a new publisher drives our game into the ground with excessive micro-transactions.
I cannot and will not advocate for dropping our Omega subscriptions as a course of action as this will tell CCP (and Pearl Abyss) that we do not want this game to continue to operate.
What I will advocate is changing our subscription type to the one month variety. It is my hope that CCP and Pearl will notice this change and that it will send a message that we, the community, do not have faith that Pearl Abyss’ business strategy will not poison New Eden. And, in the event that they do not notice, or refuse to acknowledge our lack of faith, this course of action will allow us to rapidly cut financial support as a whole in the worst-case scenario of core game systems being locked behind unavoidable micro-transactions.
What we should not do is run around like chickens with out heads cut off claiming that the world is coming to an end, even if it may well be. Cautious and calculated responses are the only way we are going to be able keep the game that we love alive and in its current state.

Seagull already ruined it tbh. EVE already was nothing but a husk of its former self and this takeover is just the final nail in the coffin.

The way I read it is as follows:
They had loyal investors for the past 15 years.
These investors simply wish to pull out and invest elsewhere. 15 years is a long time.
Someone else had to buy them out, so Pearl Abyss did.
The only difference between getting these guys and another investor unrelated to the gaming industry is that these guys are already IN the gaming industry!
This could be a good thing, or it could be exactly like you said. I think it would be foolish to ‘protest’ because of what might happen.

If CCP does a dev blog saying that Golden Ammo is coming, then I’m out. Till then there’s nothing to cry about.

That is the point of switching memberships to a 1 month, it tells the new investor that we want the game to survive but we are prepared to drop support for them if they turn around and do something we don’t like

Let’s keep them on pins and needles then.
It’s not a bad idea in general, but I would like our new overlords to feel comfortable in investing more into development rather than saying, ‘Screw this, let’s just bail’ instead.

This idea is so premature, the crying shouldn’t even be possible, yet here we are.

Having played BDO for a few years and watched Pearl Abyss develop into nothing more that a $$$ grab, terrible customer service, no decent content, BDO is now an AFK game, PA pushes people to level up via pearl shop (cash) the game is pretty I will say that but the the glitches and other small things that are never addressed are now at the point that the game is a joke, they claim 10 Mil registered users, ya 7 Mil have left the game and the rest afk 24/7 …My EVE sub comes up again in a few months and I will also just go month to month until the final nail is driven, wich shouldn’t take to long, If EVE makes it a year without P.A. interference I will be surprised.

Oï ! Excuse me, but could you enlight me please ? Who is Golden Ammo please ?

Thanks in advance !

I don’t know the details of all that is going on here.
I am not all that caught up on Eve as it currently is, having been absent for a while.
I have always been a PvE player, and I have always despised PvP, especially the easy-ganking in Eve

Much as I can’t stand certain aspects of the game, this is the game I love, not some F2P cash-shop driven theme park MMO. If I want that garbage, I’ll log into Guild Wars 2 or just about any other MMO on the market.

I know CCP didn’t necessarily have a choice in the matter, but this… :sigh: this is a sad day. I guess the silver lining is CCP isn’t being bought by EA or NC-Soft

Golden ammo is a metaphor for any hypothetical item they would add that is cash shop only and would give you an in-game advantage.

So far you can resell stuff from the shop on the market, so even if they did add golden ammo most people would just argue that since it can be resold and hence purchased for ISK it is fine… So the golden ammo isn’t really a thing and that line has already been crossed with extractors really.

If it gets to be in the game, it will start like that, then people will start complaining that it costs a lot but doesn’t do anything for them and it will be seen as a “great business opportunity” … And the road down the hill begins …
