Last expansion called ‘Abyss’ and introduced ‘precursor’ (precursor to new ownership?)…hmm.
Last couple years EVE introduced microtransactions some with game consequences others cosmetic but both would have boosted CCPs bottom line, making it possible for CCP investors to ask more for the game when sold. Also, got EVE playerbase used to microtransactions before new ownership (so less resistance from playerbase compared to introducing microtranscations under new ownership).
Eve introduced alpha / omega separation. Possible precursor to pay to win.
I expect most danger will be removed from highsec to attract and maintain a larger playerbase and a healthy chunk of nullsec income will be pushed into highsec to maintain that playerbase’s happiness.
Also, CODE (and other such highsec gank factories) you will be standing between the playerbase Pearl Abyss will be looking to build in highsec, so I’d be looking into a change of professions, now and not later.
It is too early to know what will happen when PA take over, however you can probably get an idea of how eve will pan out by their current games. I’ve not played this BDO game but I’ve read a number of comments from a number of people that say that they essentially are microtransaction heavy and so whilst eve may be left alone for a while, it is fairly safe to assume that the influences of the parent company will dripfeed down into EvE.
It is a questions really of are you bothered or not if it does go that route, if yes, then take what action you can, like sub for 1 month at a time or even go alpha. if no then carry on as you are.
Personally I will probably go to a 1 month sub, I only do 3 months at a time now so the saving of that is negligable and I probably wont do much in the way of isk making activities as I have built up enough ISK to just keep away from that grind.
so the question is are you really bothered is micro transacations come in thick and fast.?
It’s wan’t very long in coming. I’ve watched the player count go down over the last few weeks and truly the low numbers just will not sustain Eveonline in it’s current state. So what do we do? We sit back and wait in my opinion to see what direction the game will go once the sale is finalized in October.
I myself will NOT support a company that is p2w heavy, nor will I support a regime from South East Asia with my credit card. It’s a shame that a once bright star is nothing more than a flame flickering in a gentle breeze waiting to be finally go out. All my assets, skills are finally docked in a station, now reduced to nothing but a memory never to be undocked again.
@CCP Devs, ISDs, GMs and most importantly the players, best of luck in the future o7.
Yes, because once its P2W any purpose to any game outside of a social aspect complete vapourises. And if they cant monitise the social side, it will be “improved” out of existing.
Well, to be fair those players DID pay over and over again, so why would PA not take their money?
Monetizing works very different in Asia and EU/US and we can assume both CCP and PA know about the differences. It’s not like Asian companies dislike monthly subscription fees, it’s only that hardly anyone in Asia would pay those.
I’ve mostly bought a 1 yr subscription for each of the past 10 years that I’ve been here and I’m not about to change that now just because lack of info is prompting others to spread wild-fire rumors of doom and gloom.
The best way to help preserve Eve Online’s game legacy and promote growth is for everyone to chill out and continue paying / playing this game like they have been…
At least until they deem the game is no longer enjoyable.
Dear CCP, before things get too far along post Pearl, would you kindly take all the Backstory info; the Lore, Chronicles, Short Stories, Science, and put it into a nice quality Hard Cover book?
I could download it all, but I think something official and something complete would be nice for the community.
because it makes perfect sense to go that route. CCP is being bought by a company with a working character engine, at least for the outside. Even if it would be just planet side, you’d still be playing EVE. On a planet! As your character! They’d have a much easier time creating nature and structures than station interieur in space.
I’d finally be able to take my corpse for a walk, and could buy it something pretty. My corpse family has grown to over 700 so far. I have started spreading them out on different stations, hoping that’d they grow together as smaller groups, because when they all were together in a single station they were kind of cold to each other. Zero communication. The only one they were talking to was me, and they refused to talk about it.
On some days they all try to speak to me at the same time, which can be very stressful, but it’s fine most of the times. Spreading them out really helped. I also hope they get to make new friends, but it’s complicated because they never talk to anyone but me. Believe me, I’ve tried. I’m actually fairly sure you’ve seen plenty of them around in many high sec systems already. They’re visible in local, but they never say a word.
I still believe that they should be able to get together some time. They rarely get to see any sun, too. Kevin said he wants to lay down on a beach, in the sand. He said he’s a bit scared of crabs or dogs stealing his body parts, and he’s a bit sensitive about the topic. You know the feeling? Being afraid of a dog just mistaking your leg for a bone? Yeah, no, me neither …
Would you look at that … I wrote you a story. I hope you don’t mind! My family never interrupt me when i speak, so i just tend to let go until i’m done and then it’s their turn. Pearl Abyss can make WiS happen. Tell them you want it and they will likely deliver. They know how this works.
There’s a chance you might not like it, but your odds are much better now than they have ever been.
Odds are better that you’ll see AT ships available in NES. If the buyers are as money hungry as some claim, a chremoas for the equivalent of 500 usd seems very very verrrrrry possible.
I would still say it would be extremely doubtful, the main issue is it doesn’t actually improve the experience of any of the day to day tasks like fitting ships, buying items etc and the majority of players won’t even want to use it, that and the pointless added bloat it would add to the client, it was completely removed because it wouldn’t ave been worth supporting, and considering both games are using custom engines i would say the chances of the two of them even working together in the first place would be slim and take far more effort than it would actually be worth
Really PA doesnt listen. They have their own ideas about the games. If WIS is somewhere there, they will make it, no matter what playerbase would think about that, and about how it would be implemented.
But I saw it in EVE Magazine back in 2007… I saw an updated engine powered by NVIDIA Carbon 5 years later… Unfortunately I’m not convinced this will help that cause.
your attitude, that makes you believe that “not even trying” is the best of all approaches, makes you look like everyone can happily walk over you if he just wants to, because you have absolutely no way of opposing anything at all, ever. You must be a carebear.
