You should, because Feb 27th is within 30 days prior to March 20th. It seems the SP script is still running, I haven’t gotten it on most of my Omegas, so you’ll probably just need to wait it out.
It’s very frustrating for me to have read on Reddit that we were going to be given SP as compensation for these issues which have plagued the server for months only to find out that I won’t receive anything whatsoever because my account wasn’t Omega four months ago even though I couldn’t log into Eve on my friggin’ birthday of all days. These issues have been going on for way too long to only give SP to people who were active on the day of the patch deployment.
Respectfully, if the issues on your production server are so bad that they require an emergency SQL upgrade on a production box, all paying customers should be compensated. Period.
SSO has also been pretty broken for the past few weeks which makes doing anything with operational security an unnecessary problem. I missed a cap fight because your SSO system was broken.
I appreciate your hard work over all of these years and I understand that you folks have been working long hours to get things working properly but it is also very disappointing and disheartening to feel left out in the cold while everyone else is distributing their free SP.
I’ve been playing on the same server, having the same issues, but was not compensated in any way whatsoever.
Thank You CCP!
Your hard work is appreciated!
The Devblog doesn’t say anything about Alphas not being compensated. I didn’t check my active PVP Alphas, but most Omegas are missing the SP gift too. So, maybe it just takes some time.
Also:
So it looks like it’s just a question of time.
Our goal was to gift skill points to every character across all accounts that logged in at least once in the month leading upto march 20th. Alpha and Omega, so long as the account had one character log in.
I messed up a little though, and only DB’d the characters that logged in, not the others on the same account but that’s being fixed now!
I appreciate your response, and it is a question of time. I did not log in in February or March, but I have been experiencing these issues during the time that I have been playing again. I was not active on the day of the patch deployment so I think CCP will have to do something here.
Thanks for the heads up, though.
What about those of us who have been playing and effected by these issues since 20 March 2018 who are therefor receiving no compensation whatsoever?
I Galaxy packed all four of my accounts and frankly I’m a little miffed that I get zero compensation for not being able to see the future.
CPU Management V feels good, thanks CCP!
Crap, seems this once setting long V skills training was a bad idea for some of me
Thanks for the March/April super-server-downtime-funs SP recompense at last, and even moreso… thank you, CCP, for the communication on these various quality of life issues for us capsuleers!
The chat channel consistency issues are the most troubling for me, I hope they can be resolved soon. Nothing like having 3 pilots present in one system and 2 show 40 people in local and 1 shows 5 people in local and can’t even see the other 2. ;D
like ME
If by “the perfect storm” they mean incompetence, then I think they nailed it. The new chat system was not well-tested (I don’t even think you could go as far as Alpha testing) and poorly implemented. The fact that Tranquility has been underperforming for close to a year has nothing to do with the database and everything to do with lack of server hardware, legacy code and basically shutting down for several months over the summer.
The laundry list of excuses reads like a mission statement of what not to do when you’re an IT company (let alone an IT company of 15 years). The root cause of all these problems is the 1000-pound gorilla in the room: the mass layoffs last Fall that decimated the company.
EVE is officially on life support until they can be bought out by NetEase.
sorry CCP but this does not make any sense.
Those problems are and have been ongoing way longer than “till march 20”
So be so kind and do this properly.
Hi CCP,
I’m cautiously optimistic for some improvement in the performance of the server following this.
How many nodes did we have before? Is +5 a significant increase?
@Angry_RedGummyBear There a great blog with all the server info here:
From there, we currently have 30 Sol Nodes, so +4 (one of the new nodes is for comparison testing) is a 10% increase, which is pretty significant. Plus however many maintainance nodes they had which is prob at least 2.
Hey man, try seeing things a bit more positive. What more can we ask than Devs who care and who work on things, communicate with us about the steps they’re taking? I mean even if there hadn’t been any issues, there is always something that is not perfect, that could use improvement. You know that us players have very high standards when it comes to communication, but this is also because CCP had always shown a great deal of interest in what the players think. We have even higher expectations due to the possibilities we already experience in EVE and those we could imagine. EVE can never rest, that’s for sure. Let’s for once acknowledge the work the Devs are doing. I for my part think that this Devblog and the SP gift shows that the tasks at hand are taken seriously and things are being pushed forward.
The problem with the full code rewrite to my mind has always been that is also meant a pause to all other feature development while being done. Perhaps once the POS code and related system reworks are done next year. A feature production pause could be looked at.
But I think most people would want CCP to stick to plans for current system developments.
I for one am looking forward to a rework of Corp management roles and standings that become possible once POSes are gone.
I have to agree with Taagamb here. All players have suffered quite a bit recently, I would suggest extending this token to all characters on all currently active accounts. It would go a long way in the community, and doesn’t cost CCP a thing.
I say CCP should subtract every player that ranted and started rage threads -250,000 SP across all active toons…
Are there any plans/talks of multithreading the eve code?
