Devblog: Skillpoints, Cash & New Players – An Update

They just probing the market for other types of microtransaction. Don’t be ignorant.

its nothing to do with new players catching up, selling sp is selling sp, atleast with char transfers and injectors someone made those skillpoints, its a player driven market, selling sp for cash isnt
if helping new players is the aim, just increase the sp new chars start with, this is just testing to see how players will accept selling sp for cash in preperation for actually selling sp for cash…

At this point you can buy a perfect V character on the bazaar for anything, and if it lacks one thing you use a few injectors.

While I don’t want to see SP sold directly, let’s not pretend it actually matters.

No one actually reads the thread do they?

Its not a one time new bro thing. Its an as fast as you can transfer your character new account thing.

That’s nice. Or you could buy injectors for all that plex instead.
It doesn’t matter at the end of the day in reality. This is just a storm in a teacup.
Sure it’s not ideal, I’m not pretending it’s ideal or it’s what I want to see. But I’m not screaming the sky is falling when it really is just a few drops of rain.

Yes tell the csm first so the leaders of the power block can get their inside knowledge first

People in they rage don’t think…

What is difference between paying $ to CCP than paying isk to bots and RMT’s that run SP farms?

Second thing. Hilmar said on one of this year events that they will experiment with different things to bring new players. And simply said that for him better is to make wrong decision than change nothing. This was wrong one and they will fix that. More of this type experiments will come but all that whining, crying, rage and personal attacks wont help anyone. If you think something is wrong say it in normal civil way. They read those constructive topic even if not reply. This help more than crying all over internet.

Ps. where are all those people saying, “SP don’t matter”?

CCP always claimed SP don’t matter, even baldie wrote it in his blog. Skills system is outdated. CCP knew it but monetize current one is lucrative for them.

You do what you can to survive. Its just an option. I think more that à new player invest the better the odds that he or she will stay

Horrible pay-to-win scheme CCP. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I just purchased one for each of my accounts.

Just let it as it is, vets already benefited from the offer and selling SP is not p2w anyway…
And if you make it purchasable by <30 days old accounts a lot of the new guys might miss it because by the time they realize they like the game and want to invest more in it the offer might be gone for them.

Agreed, players become more bloodthirsty when they have disposable income. At the start you are earning very little isk in hisec due to limited funds, skills, and knowledge. Only once a player has a sufficient level of income does pvp become fun, as having to grind 3 hours to replace a destroyer is no fun for anyone.

Finding a way to bridge the gap between finishing the career missions and having some disposable income for pvp is probably something tot take a look at.

Let’s clear that:

The more new player invest in game
Or
The more CCP invest in new players?

Whole concept is bad and looks bad. EvE is advertised as “Free game”, new players coming will have emails on their accounts about discounted SP packs? How will it looks? Multitransaction, p2w, catching up by paying?

ccp is a business if it cant make à prophit , just close the shop.
Its only an option, and i do play for free.

Should have shown them things like

Even very old characters are sometimes in a derp mode. Character age means little if you are incompetent or very competent at things.

I see nothing wrong with this. Everyone remembers how awful it is to join a fleet when you are new and you fly a ship that doesn’t matter. We need new people to join this game and be able to contribute and be able to experience all that Eve has to offer. This is a great business decision and one that should continue. at 4% retention rate for new players I would be attempting to find multiple ways to assist new players to feel they can make real impact early on.

can we have some “open, candid, two-way dialogue with the community” about this new drifter event?

Agree with Shayanaa. 1 mill in SP won’t even get you through level 5 on a larger ship, much less the T2 levels. Same thing for indy skills. Upper level skills run in 2 mill to 4 mill range to max out.

And if there is some megaboxing vet able to string together enough prizes because he pays to maintain that many accounts over the months, why not let him have a relatively small reward for his coin and effort? BUT not much that he can string – 1 mill SP gift box is not transferable, and training booster has a new player limit – can only use a few before time in game runs out.

I know that I appreciate a little bump to get over into the next level of the skill that I am working on – as long as I am willing to pay the 5 bucks. My choice – wonderful thing about capitalism is the choices.

Which gets to the fact that this game is also a business. And server farms and programming staff are not cheap. I believe that CCP does an equitable job of considering vet players in the way that it structures the game.

Finally, a retention rate of less than 5% of new players is poor. And if we want noobs to stay and play, they need more of a chance to get on their feet before some of the more sadistic bloodsuckers in this game start trying to kick their legs out from under them – “You have an invitation to join a fleet”.

Alpha join and play for free, well thats a problem with the advertising from the start, not just the time to train skill that is not free to gain.im not against ccp erning som monny selling a 1 time sp offer to new players or giving them 5m sp to start with,Plex and sp farming are hurting the game a lott more than new player bonus can ever do,driving up ingame price on plex.Restrict sp sale to 1 time a year across all accounts owned bay 1 person.Plex is Pay to win in som ways.To retain more players and making it more intresting for new players to stay in EvE remowe all skill and mission restriction,And just take the incom from when people pay for training skills. And agre with others on this tred that more mission content an adjusting of missions reward like isk shud be don years ago in sted of giving us 70% crap ship skins.make less skins and make them good.
