Devblog: Skills On Demand - Changes Coming To The Skill System!

CCP won’t do this. Don’t hold your breath.

Before everyone is grabbing their pitchforks once again, let CCP put out the list for the “core skills” and the list for the new prices of all skills.

Core skills to my understanding, will be everything a new player needs / can learn --> therefore core skills will more or less be identical to the available alpha skills. For new players this change will be very helpful. Complexity in a game is good, but making something harder to grasp in the beginning by putting one action into three menus instead of one is just unnecessary.

Everyone who makes alts for a specific task will buy everything directly in jita whether its injectors or skills. They won’t profit from this change at all because getting their skills separately at a later point is just more work.

Also this changes regard the cost of the books in the future. A change needs to be made here, for sure. The basic skills should stay almost the same, but the cost for capital industrial and capital skills in general should be way higher, since there are way too many.

Sure, after these changes there won’t be a 300% margin on skillbooks anymore, but why don’t you wait for more details on this subject before you blame CCP for destroying your gameplay. Maybe you are even able to make a large profit from the changes, when the worth of your books quadruples for example.

imho we should stop raging about everything that is done to the game, especially if it’s not worth raging over

I can see some convenience in doing this for some skills. Namely, the skills associated with Core Spaceship Operations, Core Weapon Fitting, Navigation, Navigation Support and the Tanking skills. Other than that, let it be. The market play in skill books is a valid play style and ISK generator.

NO, NEVER!

Can’t say I’m particularly wound up about this change but it does seem a bit pointless. Logistics (proper not Logi) is an integral part of this game so finding the best price for any item and deciding if the distance is worth the saving is what we all do all the time.

Why not just make the core skills part of the career agent rewards and not change anything else?

5 sentences, 5 assumptions.

I guess I should just be glad your particular brand of reeee is in short supply at the adults only table.

Oh boy, that argument. But i wonder how it will perform against the “but it’s 2035!”.

Gadget also signs her posts and talks about herself in the third person, so really, nobody’s gonna much care what Gadget says.

I can sympathize that in the first few days of this game are challenging and this may alleviate some of that burden from a new player.

But I feel it should be pointed out to the new player when they first buy one of those books from this system that the same book may be purchased from the market for less and that they should check first.

It could be a good opportunity for the player to be introduced to the cost-benefit aspect of the markets in Eve. Should they buy it at a cheaper price but a little effort to get it? Or pay a higher price for convenience, this could be an important opportunity to teach a newbie that some things can be cheaper but need more effort or the flip side that convenience costs more.

PS: This is about alleviating the massive amount of burden a new player is lumbered with, it is such a small thing which could make a large difference between a player staying and giving up in frustration. The cost to a few market traders I feel would be well worth the cost. Besides, these people have always had access to the NPC skillbook market. Most new players dont even travel beyond their newbies systems for a few weeks, let alone Jita where the market warring happens.

Wonder how you consider an arguement by just putting 2019. EVE did put it down in this video… Your gameplay will change this year, believe it or not.

An important lesson that shows with ISK everything is easier and they will either turn to RMT or buy Plex and sell it.

They plan to remove J-space? I sexually identify as a roller battleship, will i need to change that too?

This is great!!! I’m highly in favor of this change. While you are at it, can you let skills be injected from anywhere? We can inject skill injectors from anywhere, why not skills?

They’re to straighten it out and make it I-space

A good post.

A better and more easy Skill-System because you think your customer are to dumb to use markettools to get the right skills? Wow…
