Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

How do you know this?

You did accept the premise of dewk’s statement. And If supply of isk or ore needed to be reduced, perhaps reducing the supply of isk or ore via reducing the number or rate of anomalies would be a good way to do that. Reducing the rate at which isk is earned or ore is mined cannot reduce the supply of either in a game where skill injectors and plex exsist.

I’ll read the CSM minutes, like I always have. And I’ll pm you to admit you were right, if I see any reasonable suggestions that CCP ignored.

C’mon what are you talking about ?? 30% at most ?? who would buy a 9+B ship for just 30% more. Basic Rule Grater the risk Greater the reward.

By ā€œbalance,ā€ what CCP really means is that they’re nerfing the ways players who have invested significantly into the game have developed to earn isk:

VNI ratting: nerfed
Gila ratting / Abyss: nerfed
Carrier ratting: nerfed
Supercarrier ratting: nerfed
Rorqual mining: nerfed

This is the new meta: They clearly want to make it much more difficult for us to be able to earn enough isk to plex our accounts (particularly for smaller players who have resisted massive multiboxing).

Fine. Two can play at this game (or not play, as the case may be).

They’ve pretty much taken necessary balancing actions to deal with the hellhole that was the out of control isk faucets. In order to improve the health of the game, overall.

And… you do realize there’s other ways to make ISK as well?

Still. All of those activities you listed are still very much viable, and you’ll still make more ISK in NS compared to any other part of space (with the exception of C5/C6 ratting in WHs).

Huge letdown for all miners and ratters out there. Nothing good about this update. You guys just basically prevent people from making more ISK, I only have 2, but some have like 10-20 accounts they could just make another box and compensate the nerfing in yield. And carriers ratting is basically dead.

Because they want us buying plex instead of making isk ourselves

Total Shock and Dis-believe:

I have never in my 44 years seen that a game developer takes away massive play-ability from a game.

The General in game feel is the game especially in as far as carriers and supers are concerned is going to become virtually unbearable to play.

Some have stated that if the impact of completing a ratting site is affected by as much as 1 minute longer to finish a site they will be leaving the game.

Serious players with serious set targets like doing 10 ratting sites in an hour in line with there daily allowed time to play who now need to perhaps settle with less wont be happy.

A player recently bought a TITAN: i don’t want to know what the health impact in those homes are as a result of these changes coming as it would have cost a heavy amount of money to get there.

Navy Vexor for new pilots and ratting : DEAD
Carrier Ratting: DEAD
Mining: DEAD

:frowning:

Seems that CCP want more workers than players on this ā€œGAMEā€.
It looks to me that CCP want to sell more Plexes, with all this ā€œBalanceā€ the result is less ISK more Grinding. (or buy plex)

The people crying about Rorq nerfs are making me giggle. Instead of 4, you’ll just have to add 1 to mine the same amount. They’re relatively AFK as it is, and if you’re not totally afk and have a proper super/dread/fax umbrella, you’re not going to really have any issues with a 6 minute panic rather than 7.

I’m a little cranky with the NSA = no warp, but I don’t perma run mine anyway. I can see sebos and target painters in the thanny meta in the future.

I don’t afk rat in a VNI so I don’t really care about them or the Gila (gilas were fun to play around with but defanging them was rediculous, their nerf was deserved)

I like the laser boat love, but the Ferox nerf has me scratching my head a bit. They die. A lot. Just matters who is on the N+1 side. The subcap logi nerf is not on my happy list. the T2 logi has been hit with the bat enough already. Faxes were totally deserving of the don’t be so OP stick.

I’m not a super pilot so the HAW changes won’t affect me really, I do like that it might help to make dreads a little more relevant again as something more than an anti-cap ball.

Like all balance changes there will be crying and gnashing of teeth, but those at the top will adapt and overcome. The only people that will be ā€œhurtā€ by any of the changes are those that don’t have the desire and dedication to figure out the ā€œnew metaā€ after each balance pass.

Cheers. And remember the pendulum will swing again guys. Things are always changing.

So overall I love the changes. I think a more elegant solution could be made to the Rorqual however. Have the industrial core pass a link to all other Rorquals cutting their excavator production in half. In this way mass Rorquals cannot be realistically fielded on the same field, spreading them out, encouraging their use as a command platform for links and not a pure replacement for barges.

I really feel like the vocal minority is getting their way here. The vast majority of players can’t even fly capitals. They aren’t over powered. People are just too lazy to try to figure out a better idea of going about killing them.

Furthermore with this FAX nerf…I feel the same mechanic should be applied to the new triglavian tech BOTH weapons AND logi. Make it so more triglavian weapons on the same target = reduced incoming dmg from each weapon.

Hey it’s only fair right.

So glad the Devs are making this games PVE go out the god damn window. here’s the new sub tittle under EVE ONLINE.

EVE ONLINE
pvp only.

good job you CCP devs. not only have you begun to alienate your player base. but you’re just affirming that you dont give a rats left ass about smaller groups. just the big one’s.

I just spent over a year training my main for capitals, training a Fax alt, and training a rorqual alt. Was really excited as my plans were coming to fruition. But now this.
What a giant waste of time and money. I’m not paying another dime for this game.

well then suggest add upgrade for system preventing appearance wormholes

I really like a lot of these changes, but there is 1 change that is so, so close, but not quite there. That is the Harbinger powergrid buff. The thing that makes armor BCs work is the ability to fit a 1600mm plate, a 50mn AB, and heavy beam lasers. With this buff, the harbingers is almost exactly 30 powergrid shot of being able to fit those mods with the standard assortment of tank lows and utility highs. I emplore you to increase the Harbinger’s base powergrid to 1575, which gives it just enough with pwg upgrades 5 to use this basic fit setup. This would force one to use a hardwire with they wanted a neut in the highslot, or they would have to leave it empty. But without that 30 pwergrid, the Harbinger will still not be very viable. Thanks!

You do know that the summit minutes are only a bare-bones outline of what goes on at the summits, and don’t contain any of the conversations the CSM has with the devs throughout their term, right? That there’s a constant dialog going on all year that isn’t in the minutes at all?

Here’s the winter minutes from the September CSM 13 meeting.

It is by far detailed enough to know what sorts of things are proposed.

For example, this is the level in minutia in the minutes:

Talk to former CSMs. See if they maybe tell you that there’s a lot that gets left out, now that they’re not under NDA.

And, you know, again: that’s 2 weeks. Out of 52. They’re bringing things to the devs’ attention all year long.

The huge Delve mining and bounty numbers in the monthly economic report disagree with you.

The carrier and rorq nerfs are their attempt to (primarily) reel in the ISK coming out of Delve. It’s not going to do much, but it’s something. It’s not like they can disband the Imperium.
