The background sounds when these windows are open are annoying as absolute hell. Please give us the option to completely turn them off.

I agree. It is annoying.
Those are not nearly as annoying as repetitive human speech in the stations. I loved the old times when stations had just station ambience and no human speech whatsoever. I used to keep the client open and go to sleep to those sounds, they were that relaxing. Now, I don’t even want to hear them for 1 minute because of the speech content. There should be an option to disable human speech and leave just the background ambience. Or even better – don’t put any human speech into the background atmospheric audio at all!
