Dispelling The Hype Over Alien Life

But if a photon lands in the woods and there is no physicist to observe it . . . is it quantum entangled?

If light existed forever, then astronomers would be able to see light from the other side of the Universe, but since light from the other side of the Universe cannot be seen, then light does in fact dissipate over time. In the case of Icarus, a natural “magnifying glass” is created by a galaxy cluster called MACS J1149+2223. Located about 5 billion light-years from Earth, this massive cluster of galaxies sits between the Earth and the galaxy that contains the distant star. By combining the strength of this gravitational lens with Hubble’s exquisite resolution and sensitivity, astronomers can see and study Icarus.

Without the magnifying glass of galaxies, the light from Icarus would never be seen, thus proving that light does in fact have an expiration date.

I could not agree more with Prof David Kipping. People who argue that there ‘must’ be alien life out there are really just showing confirmation bias and not proper maths. Being impressed with how many exoplanets there are is meaningless…because the huge number of planets may be outweighed by an even huger odds against life developing…

Negativity seems to be your forte based on the popularity of someone else. Its math, not maths.

Because based on your assumption of, 'Being impressed with how many exoplanets there are is meaningless…because the huge number of planets may be outweighed by an even huger odds against life developing…

may be outweighed by larger odds, not huger.

Based on your statement, life on Earth shouldn’t exist either. The notion of an Earth only planet among trillions upon trillions of planets in the Universe is no different than flat earther or hollow earth reality.

Using math to justify a reality when humans haven’t even built colonies on the Moon and Mars yet is arrogantly wrong, because you are saying that because of math and science, life does not exist elsewhere in the Universe.

Sounds like this thread is more along the lines of a phishing thread that coincides with a certain religious belief of being born again.

Leave that for the bear to decide.

Sounds like Kipping is more so trying to create an alluring sentiment between himself and his followers: “we might be alone.” Or breaking down someone’s barriers to make the listener feel as if Kipping is the source of sexual gratitude when, Kipping is alone with the listener in the listener’s mind.

Oh for God’s sake. The Dunning Kruger is strong today. These are some of the most futile arguments on the internet…someone who thinks they know their stuff vs someone who actually does. It’s pointless arguing. Let people believe what BS they want to, if they are too lazy to actually read a science journal or even watch a few science videos.

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias whereby people with low ability, expertise, or experience regarding a certain type of task or area of knowledge tend to overestimate their ability or knowledge.

So, basically because you are a follower of Kipping, you have overestimated your ability, because you believe that you are just as intelligent as Kipping. How many times a week do you look at the stars through a telescope? Reading books and then posting comments is not considered being an expert or having experience. Do you have any applied and direct application of what you continue to suggest is reality?

Anton Petrov has an excellent science channel. All this stuff is also on PBS Space, and lectures by Fermilab, the German physicist Sabine Hossenfelder also has a superb channel on physics issues.

I have been a member of the British Astronomical Association since I studied Astronomy ( and computing ) at college in 1975. I have published science papers in learned journals. You ?

( Actually I was also a co-discoverer of Nova Cygni in 1975 )

Your posts are nothing more than a bait scheme because someone else also posted comments and videos relating to Anton Petrov.

Anton Petrov is a math teacher.

Anton Petrov is a math teacher. In my time off I am also an avid video gamer with an extensive knowledge of PC gaming both as an entertainment art and an educational tool. My research paper at University of Toronto was on educational uses of Minecraft. Master of Teaching from the University of Toronto, Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE), Toronto, Ontario Teaching Certification for Mathematics and Biology, grades 7-12; Thesis: “Using Minecraft in Education, Qualitative Study” President of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Student Association. Link them using your real name then.

The only thing I’m going to link to is this…

Nope, because if you were being truthful and honest you wouldn’t have a problem linking your ‘scientific papers’ that would be part arXiv.org e-Print archive Papers that have your real name as the source.

I could not care less what you believe. You asked. I stated. End of. Rant all you like.

Anyone is free to read the science themselves, or watch videos on the subject, and see that what I am saying is correct. If people would rather believe Joe Bloggs On The Internet than what actual scientists say…that’s up to them.

No, you posted this 'I have been a member of the British Astronomical Association since I studied Astronomy ( and computing ) at college in 1975. I have published science papers in learned journals. You ?

( Actually I was also a co-discoverer of Nova Cygni in 1975 )’

You are identity baiting. You want someone to believe you are someone from the team that co-discovered Nova Cygni in 1975, which if you were actually a co-discoverer, you wouldn’t have a problem linking papers to your real name.

Matter of fact, your reply to skirting around when someone asks for your credentials to verify and authenticate who you are, is the same reply that role-players over at Trek BBS give when asked for authentication.

If you can’t even authenticate your real name as being a co-discoverer of Nova Cygni, then how can you authenticate the reality of life only existing on Earth?

Basically, you are talking about yourself.

If you can’t even authenticate your real name as being a co-discoverer of Nova Cygni, then how can you authenticate the reality of life only existing on Earth?

Over and over again like the conservation of energy in a light photon.

Lol…no, I am not gonna give my real name just to satisfy some BS spouter on some internet forum. I have stated the facts. I do not care what you believe.

Nobody is going to give their real name in this toxic viper pit of a forum.

Ok, then you would understand this:

I hope you understand now how it works. If not, I dont know how to explain. A is no more as you can see, but there is B. Of course there are more points than those two, but only two interest us. Points are of course synonymous with states. It is probed movement, in fact it is constant change and can be described using continuous function that have no end and no beginning, because it unravels in real time, but in this case I simplified, and of course that simplified version isnt perfect…

Nice Nana. Synomous with states of change, over time.

Xeux, when someone makes a bold claim of being a co-discoverer of new sun or planet and claims to have scientific papers published, the person has to be called out and their indentity verified and authenticated.

Michelle Mayour, the lead of the exo-planet project for Eve Online never hid behind fake accounts, because he is authentic, unlike Alatera.

Lol, no…that’s not what you originally said…

“Its not time that slows down, it is space itself shortening. When you are moving in space, you are shortening space in front of you, you are interacting with it and you affect the system of relatives.”

How many times do I have to say that is simply not true ?

The best way to prove my point is to point out that a journey to the nearest star at the speed of light would take 4 years. If the space was being shortened in front of your space ship then it would take less than 4 years. Which would be a bit of a problem as you’d arrive there before any signal from earth sent at the same time…which is exactly what would happen if you were travelling faster than the speed of light.

You seem to think that the space ship literally in itself gets shorter. It doesn’t. The whole thing is called relativity for a reason. The space ship appears to be shorter relative to an external stationary observer.

How about actually reading a science book rather than endlessly trying to convey your mis-interpretation of the science ?
