So here are two suggestions for the DNI. Given that you want to be more active with guns you will not be drone sniping, so no need to fit drone links. There is tight fighting but I have designed these to be able to be fit by a zero-day newbro in terms of resources. I do not recommend going into L4’s with a 600m hull if this is you (I would recommend putting it off until you have the powergrid to fit a full rack of 350’s, a t2 large armour rep, and a 500mn mwd)
Is there any reason you are looking at shield tanking? - Most Gallente pve boats have great bonuses to armour reps. I like armour tanking because an unbonused large armour rep gives you tanking power somewhere between a large shield booster (not quite enough unless you are careful) and an xl shield booster (very hungry on cap), and allows the use of damage application mods (Caldari and Minmatar shield boats don’t have this issue as they have more mid slots and can be flexible in terms of tank/application modules)

Do not be fooled by the extra 200 DPS on the shield fit one though, because the armour tank can apply it better to smaller targets, it additionally has better staying power through its heftier and longer lasting tank (and a better cap recharge too (+14.4 vs +16.4 GJ/s).
You can see the damage application in the graph below:
I did not include a target profile for a battlecruiser because both ended up doing roughly equivalent damage. You can see however that the armour fit is better at applying damage to cruisers. In L4’s, a lot of the targets are cruisers, and if you do not find a way to apply damage to them, you will be up against them for a long time (and the quicker you kill things the less you need to tank)
If you are willing to move over to armour and want to focus on turrets, I would recommend the Megathron Navy Issue. The thing is a beast, and when fitted as below, it has a nice tank, is fairly agile, and comes in at around the same price as the DNI fits (In fact a little bit cheaper - and you get more out of it). The idea behind it is to keep your afterburner going and orbit a structure at 45 km and just blast all the NPC’s trailing behind you.

Here you can see it compared to the armour fit DNI:
With better application to cruiser and below targets than a shield fit DNI, and better application passed 40km than an armour fit DNI (where you would be orbiting), and applies more damage to battlecruisers and above, the MNI is, in my opinion, superior in regards to what you are looking at doing.
There is also enough CPU remaining that you can utilize the utility high slot - you could put a tractor beam or even a drone link augmentor to extend your drone damage beyond 60km.
My only criticism against the MNI is that you are paying an extra 200m compared to the megathron hull for an extra 100 DPS (from the extra drone bandwidth allowing an additional heavy - turret DPS remains the same - so if you are focusing on turrets, the vanilla megathron may be the better (and cheaper) option), when, for that again you get about 25% more tank for longer, an extra 200 DPS (afforded by both the extra drone bandwidth and more turret damage), and dead stop webifiers with a vindicator (which, if you want you can also fit with a shield tank - but again, I feel armour is better because you take advantage of the web bonus)
(All DPS stats are quoted with 425 mm prototype gauss gun’s with fed navy antimatter)
Anyway, I hope this helped.
